My memory of the past is the same as before. We served Kasha on special occasions, like Christmas Eve at home when I was a kid. Considering the limited availability of mashed potatoes, we looked forward to each of the few occasions every year when it was offered. As a person accustomed to eating fried food, I loved the taste of Kasha when it was served warm and drizzled with browned butter after it was prepared as egg-coated individual kernels rather than a porridge.
