When I opened the package, I found that the contents were very different from what I expected. Although the picture I ordered was described as "medium," I received it as "coarse."

It is not true and it is not true In addition to the Wolff's Kasha boxes, you'll find a box for packing. It's the same way they're packed when you order directly from the mill, so this middleman is just making it more expensive for you The packing process. Inside the box of kacha are a few loose grains of kasha however, the individual boxes do not appear to be damaged or open. You can order a dozen even if you don't. My assessment is that this is a very safe area.

You can't get more traditional than this!.
I had to order on line since I could not find these in stores. They are as good as I remember but the size of the boxes has changed. Also, it is gluten free even though it resembles wheat.
I have always enjoyed the kasha varnishke (bowtie pasta and kasha) but I use it as a much healthier protein-rich substitute for kasha bovet. Buying 6 at a time ensures I always have it on hand. It is a healthier alternative to rice.
Good taste, easy to prepare, and cooks in less than 10 minutes (that's tough to beat).
S. I find this kasha to be very weird.
This is so much better than what you can buy from the bins at Food that tastes great and is healthy.
