I can honestly say that these split peas are the best I have ever bought. You should not snack on them, but you can make the most delicious split pea soup with them! Thank you for your question. I hope this helps.
I believe the peas are too dry to cook in a slow cooker, but I believe they would work well on a stovetop. In the microwave, I reheat the dishes after they have been prepared.

Any product from Bob's Red Mill is a great choice. It manufactures and sells the best grain, legume, cereals, flours, and mixes available. The company also offers a warranty on its products. There is no comparison between their split green peas and anything else. Cooking them up is a delight and they have a delicious taste, almost like spring peas. It is slightly sweet, as you would expect a fresh pea to taste, making it a good addition to soup or to soup recipes. This has been used successfully to make a "faux" guacamole in the past. This dish is low in fat and high in fiber, flavor, A homemade veggie burger recipe I made has also been updated with a great spring vegetable flavor. Grains like these are easy to grind for use in making green pea flour to be added to casseroles, to make split pea soup immediately or in making cookies or This product is a great choice if you like green split peas.
Bob's Red Mill has once again provided a great product. It has never let me down or disappointed my family, and I am happy I purchased them. At the moment, they are making something that they like. It'll be easy for me to throw these into a crock pot in the morning after they soak, and there will be lots of happy people coming home from work and school tomorrow and many discussions about who gets to take the leftovers to school. My kids like it when they can barter over who gets the soup between them when they have something healthy to eat.
It was delicious! I read the products description and could see that the product was really fresh after harvest and packed immediately. These peas cook up really nicely and in a flash - I would recommend them. For weeknight meals, this is a big plus. The couscous or quinoa could also be topped with these. They're good for split pea soup, but you can also make them as a side dish. There is a vast difference in quality between store-bought and custom-made A generic brand of split peas was purchased. Bob's Red Mill has always been a favorite of mine, even though I have to pay a bit more for it. The products they create are always excellent, and I have yet to find any I would call anything less. In this respect, split peas do not differ.
I have started making my own soups because prepared soups and mixes have so much sodium. My husband loves soup and he has to watch his blood pressure, so I bought Bob's Red Mill split peas today and tried them for the first time. Adding Bob's Red Mill Barley to the split peas and the water as instructed on the bag was my next step. The barley added both flavor and texture to the peas. I put carrots, onions, and some spices, especially garlic pepper, in the slow cooker and put it on low for about six hours. It turned out really tasty and I will make it again. My husband has now adopted this soup as his favorite.
I am so in awe of the quality of these over the ones you get at the grocery store. This is far superior to the grocery store split peas I bought. Made split pea soup the other day and these peas were so much more tender and full of flavor. The only brand I'll ever use is this one! The next thing I will do is get some black beans. As a supper last night, I ate leftover soup with baguettes topped with melted butter mixed with minced garlic, herbes de provence, and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese Grilled with grated Romano cheese and pecorino romano topping I love it so much.
There is no comparison to these dried peas in terms of taste - they are delicious. I had previously bought split peas from the store and they were quite disappointing. The peas I bought were to be used in split pea soup, and they were absolutely delicious! What I didn't realize when I bought them was that they don't require soaking and cook in less than 30 minutes! I like the fact that the presentation is 40 minutes long. These split peas will not just be used for split pea soup but for a variety of purposes. This is a game I'm addicted to!.
Since the peas disintegrate into mush quickly, it is easy to make split pea soup out of it. It tastes delicious and has a great flavor. As well as this ham base, I use it in my soup.
I use this for soup / stew bases - I am vegan To smooth, cook, then put into VitaMix on low Bob's Red Mill 13 Bean or Veggie Bean soup can be added to the crockpot. It is always best to cook slowly.
