Questions & Answers
That's exactly what happened to me. This is the first time it has happened to me. Mine took 12 hours to cook, so I'm guessing the peas were past their prime?
I'm not sure where you're getting your fiber from. Fiber is abundant in cooked split peas. I made split pea soup with this product, and it was delicious.
Thanks for your question, we get our organic split green peas from Canada and Ukraine.

TENDERIZED AFTER 8 HOURS OF COOKING. MONEY HAD BEEN SPENT IN A WAY THAT WAS NOT NECESSARY TENDER PEAS ARE ALWAYS AVAILABLE AT ROUSES LOCAL STORE. I FEEL LIKE I'VE BEEN ROBBED AND VIOLATED. THROWING MY MONEY AND THESE NO GOOD PEAS IN THE TRASH!.
Make sure you don't throw your money away. It was obvious that the peas were past their prime. Even after soaking them overnight, I cooked the peas for hours but they were never tender.
The packaging is attractive, and the color is appealing, but the product is as hard as a rock. I tried cooking them for longer than the recipe called for, and I soaked them for a couple of hours before cooking, but they never softened. Split peas have never taken so long to cook for me. br>br>I was really disappointed because I had been using them for "soup-making" at home. Before I knew how long they would take to cook, I made "gifts in a jar" for Christmas.
There is no option for a refund. I'm not sure where to begin, so let's start at the beginning: It took some effort to open the package. There were no perforations to be found. When I cut along the top with scissors, I discovered that the resealable part wasn't even lined up correctly. The smell of mustiness was the worst part about opening it. Even so, I grabbed a handful and ate them. It was as if you were chewing on popcorn kernels that tasted like chemicals. I immediately spit them out. The worst part is that I'm unable to return these to Amazon for a refund. These are the most revolting foods I've ever tasted, and I will never buy anything from this company again. Such a downer.
If I need something quick, I'll just add water and season with bacon salt in small batches for a quick and delicious meal or two. If I'm going old school, I'll make an entire pot with smoked ham hocks, chopped onion, shredded carrot, and a pinch of crushed garlic. In any case, unlike some brands, these peas were not filthy or full of dirt clots or rocks, so they can be used after a quick rinse and still taste great. These are a healthier alternative to canned split pea soups because they don't contain as much fat and salt.
They remained as hard as rocks no matter how long I cooked them. I had a horrible time. It's got to be some really old peas! I won't be buying anything else.
Small stones in the peas should be avoided. Unlike some other brands, the packaging does not state that these must be sifted for debris. Regardless, I ran a quick scan and apparently missed a small rock in my husband's soup. Yikes! Aside from that, the price and peas are excellent, though the packaging could be reduced to reduce waste.
