Selected User Reviews For Spectrum Essentials Walnut Oil, Refined, 16 fl oz
For years, I've used walnut oil in salad dressings, baked goods, breads, stir fries, and dips. Your imagination is the only limit to what you can do. It's delicious and high in Omega-3 fatty acids. To extend the shelf life of an opened bottle, I store it in the refrigerator, but I usually consume it within two weeks. The cheapest option is Amazon Fresh ($5). 07) in the vicinity of my home I couldn't find it anywhere else for a lower price.
This oil has a pleasant flavor and a mild flavor that complements a wide range of foods. I also tried La Tourangelle, Roasted Walnut Oil, which has a stronger flavor on its own. The Spectrum walnut oil is more versatile than the La Tourangelle walnut oil because of the roasting. br>br>Because it is refined, I am lowering it to three stars. I found a lot of contradictory information about how bad oil refining is. Spectrum oil, on the other hand, contains two. 0 g monounsaturated fatty acids vs. 2 g monounsaturated fatty acids 5 for the La Tourangelle, implying that refining degraded the oil's nutritional quality.
The flavor is very light. When olive oil is too strong for salad dressings, I use this. When working at medium temperatures, I also use it in sautés (I use peanut oil when working at high temperatures). Walnuts are said to be beneficial to one's health. I'm hoping the same can be said for its oil. In any case, because I enjoy it so much, I will continue to use it.
This was the only time I used it in a recipe. It was primarily for my hair that I purchased it. It's very adaptable, and I'm going to reuse the bottle it came in. This is something I'm going to buy once more. I'm not sure if I'll ever run out.
The flavor is pleasant, and it complements salads well. br>It also helps with infections and skin irritations (psoriasis) on the body.
Some walnut oils are overpowering, but this one isn't, and it's perfect for me. In baking recipes, I like to substitute it for vegetable oil.
It's a good product overall, though the walnut content doesn't feel very rich for the small bottle size.
