Questions & Answers

Is this suitable for making coconut milk? How? We enjoy coconut milk but can't seem to find any without carageenan or guar gum in it at the store. ?

Without a doubt. That's exactly what I'm going to do with it. I use 2 parts water to 1 part coconut in my recipe. It will keep for about 5 days in the refrigerator. I only make enough for 6 days, so I don't make a lot at once, and I use a Vitamix. 2 minutes in a blender with the coconut and water To strain the mixture, place it in a nut meat bag. The most milk is obtained by squeezing the bag. (Any fine mesh bag will do, but I prefer the nut meat bag I ordered online.) I suppose several layers of cheesecloth could be used.

What's the flavor of this on its own? Is it pleasant to the palate?

It simply tastes like coconut, with a slight sweetness similar to that of coconut flesh. This will not work if your recipe calls for sweetened coconut. I usually use this to "bread" chicken to give it a fried chicken flavor, or I use it to sweeten macaroons. I prefer knowing what kind of sugar is being used because I know what kind of sugar is being used. I also use these to make coconut milk, which is delicious in smoothies because it adds a subtle coconut flavor. I hope this information is useful!

Is there a way to grind it into flour?

Actually, coconut flour is made by pressing the oil out of the coconut before grinding it, so grinding this will not produce coconut flour. However, if you throw a bag of this into a Vitamix, you can make coconut butter or coconut manna in less than two minutes for a fraction of the price of buying those products. I've just finished a batch of cookies.

This is ideal for making coconut milk from organic coconuts
5/5

The 12 packs arrived exactly as described. This is ideal for making coconut milk from organic coconuts. br>Here's how to make it; you'll love it. Ingredients: Ingredients: Ingredients: Ingredients: Ingredients: Ingredients: Ingredients: Ingredients: Ingredients: Ingredients 2 cups "Let's Do Organic Shredded Unsweetened Coconut"br>4 cups filtered waterbr>2 cups "Let's Do Organic Shredded Unsweetened Coconut" br>In a medium-sized sauce pan, pour the water and add the coconut. br>Heat the water/coconut mixture over medium heat until it is very warm, but not boiling. br>Pour the mixture into a blender and blend for about 2-minutes on low, medium, and high. 3 minutes (the mixture should be creamy with a slight frothy center). br>Pour the mixture into a pan lined with cheesecloth, through a strainer (make sure the cheesecloth is folded to at least 4 layers thick). br>Fold the cheesecloth over the mixture and squeeze the milk out of the cheesecloth packet into the pan, making sure to create a seal so the coconut doesn't spill out. Continue to squeeze as much milk as you can out of the cheesecloth, taking care not to spill any coconut flakes into the pan or tear the cheesecloth. br>Pour the milk from the pan into a glass carafe (preferably) and chill it for at least an hour, gently swirling the milk every hour to ensure proper mixing. br>With proper refrigeration, this milk will last for about 5 days.

Fresh and Creamy Homemade Coconut Milk Can Be Made in Less Than Ten Minutes
5/5

Let's Do Organic Shredded Unsweetened Coconut is used in my home for a variety of purposes. Cooking with this product is a breeze. Think toasted cashews, tomatoes, and a few cilantro sprigs in your chicken curry. Directly add the coconut to thicken it; It adds a nice touch of texture to the curry, which helps to balance out the creaminess. br>br>I also enjoy making chocolate macaroons with this coconut. The gooey chocolate combines with the chewy shredded coconut to create a truly decadent dessert. This product is so simple to use that it'll be ready when the urge to make Raspberry Coconut Bars or German Chocolate Cake strikes. When I use it to make coconut milk, it is extremely dependable and consistently produces delicious results. At least twice a week, you should do this. Because I use this stuff so frequently, I started using Amazon's Subscribe and Save Program to purchase it. Just a suggestion for those looking to save a little money when purchasing this item: This service is fantastic, so take advantage of it. br>br>With this, you can make homemade coconut milk that is much healthier than store-bought coconut milk. bought. Many health-conscious people are aware of the importance of The health benefits of including more coconut in one's diet are well known. Coconut is known for reducing inflammation, speeding up healing, improving brain function, and increasing physical speed and endurance, to name a few benefits. So my family decided to try some of these health benefits for ourselves, and we did what a lot of people do--we did what a lot of people do--we did what a lot of people do--we did what a lot of people do--we did what a lot of people do--we did what We went to the store and did some shopping. Coconut milk that has been purchased. That was such a blunder! It didn't take long for us to figure out what was going on, but every time we drank the store-bought beverage, we were reminded of the connection. We all got stuffy, runny noses (sorry if this is TMI) that lasted for hours after we bought stuff in our coffee, tea, or cereal. No big deal, until you realize what scary ingredient was in the store-- Every time we drank it, the purchased product gave us an allergic reaction. And, after some investigation (yes, I am a nutrition geek, but I guess I just like to be cautious about what I feed my family), it was discovered that the scary ingredient causing the allergic reaction was carrageenan. Carra- So, what exactly are you looking for? br>br>In the end, many studies show that carrageenan can stimulate the immune system in a negative way, causing inflammation, gastrointestinal disorders, and even gastrointestinal cancer. This didn't sound appealing to me, but I was interested in the potential health benefits of coconut. As a result, the investigation went on. br>br>I knew it would be difficult, expensive, and possibly dangerous to track down the right kind of raw coconut. I enjoy cooking, but I don't think I'd enjoy macheteing (is that a word?) off one or more of my fingers while trying to crack open a fresh coconut. This was excessive, and I am aware of my limitations. As a result, I continued my search for the best solution possible. Let's do it with organic, unsweetened shredded coconut. Finally, a product that meets all of the requirements: br>br> Carrageenan is a type of seaweed that is good for your health. Free, organic, simple to use, tasty, affordable, and useful. br>br>In case you've never tried homemade coconut milk but are curious, it's very simple to make. Simply soak one package of this coconut in four cups of water for ten minutes before blending until it resembles a fine mush. I use the Blendtec's "soup setting," but you don't need one like this or the Vita-Mix. It's not necessary to mix, but it's a good idea. If you don't, simply soak the coconut for a few minutes longer, and you may need to blend the coconut more than once. After you've finished blending, strain the mixture through a nut bag, cheesecloth, or a very strong, clean pair of nylon hose. I like to season mine with a pinch of sea salt and a dash of vanilla, but it's also delicious on its own. The only disadvantage of this method is that I haven't figured out what to do with the pulp yet. br>br>If you're looking for a quick, low-cost, and healthy meal, you've come to the right place. If you're looking for a cost-effective way to reap the benefits of eating coconut, or simply enjoy the flavor, I wholeheartedly recommend this product.

DISSATISFIED – As if these were already juiced LEFTOVERS, there isn't much flavor/taste
3/5

I'm disappointed because I invested in such a large bag of shredded coconut that has very little flavor or taste, despite the numerous 5-star reviews. br>br>I recently made coconut water with a different brand generic 1LB shredded coconut purchased from an Asian supermarket. It had a strong coconut flavor and was also a little oily. I made a batch from it and then re-made another batch from it. I made a second batch of coconut water with them. I was so taken with it that I went out and bought this 22 pound bag, thinking it couldn't possibly be that different. Nope. Despite the fact that I re- using the coconut flakes that have already been juiced 2- The coconut flakes juiced ONCE from this 22LB bag had a stronger taste than the coconut flakes juiced 3 times from another brand. This does not make me happy in the least. A 22 pound bag is also quite large. br>br>It tastes like the coconut flakes have already been juiced AT LEAST ONCE, and what's left is just leftovers. I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding something, but it has a subtle coconut flavor. If I discover that I made a mistake, I will gladly change my review. I'm not happy with this 22 pound bag of coconut flakes, which have almost no flavor.
