The heat is unbearable! It's not just hot and spicy like a lot of other dishes. Even the medium chile is spicier than most other brands.
The garlic is granulated, the lime juice is fresh, and the salt is regular table salt, not sea salt.
Yes, but I'd transfer to a different container or make sure there's at least 1 inch of space at the top because frozen food expands and can easily break a glass jar.
Only a medium heat version of the 505 is available. With a little heat, I think it's even better.

I grew up in New Mexico and love green chile, but I've noticed that almost every jar of green chile I've seen outside of New Mexico has lime in it, which isn't how green chile tastes in New Mexico. This product, in my opinion, is a failure because it does not accurately represent what things taste like there. Is it something you'd like to eat? Kind of. Is it true that you're eating New Mexican chile? Not by a long shot. Unfortunately, I wish I could recommend a better product, but it will never be as good as what you get in the real state. Believe me, I've tried a variety of "hatch green chile," and the only way to get the real thing is to visit New Mexico and eat it. This is why I only go once a year and only bring back a few frozen pounds to keep in the freezer. It's the only way to get a true taste of the cuisine.
I was born in Colorado and have spent the last eight years living in Germany. Chilies are unknown in Europe. I can only find fresh jalapeos from Holland, and I've only seen poblanos twice. I've been missing chile verde for Thanksgiving and whenever I'm sick (you can keep your chicken noodle). While using NM hatch chilies may be sacrilege to my fellow Coloradans (we prefer pueblo chilies), it's the closest thing I've found that can be shipped to my current address. Last year, I was so pleased with these chilies that I made a fantastic batch of chile verde for Thanksgiving. I have two jars in my pantry that I am rationing out as much as I can. These were exactly what I needed to get a taste of home. br>br>*No sane medical authority backs this statement. Any medical condition should not be treated with green chile.
Growing up in New Mexico, both red and green chile were staples of my diet. It was all over the place, and you didn't even notice. However, I'm having withdrawal symptoms now. br>br>Words like "grits," "fatback," "hushpuppies," and "collard" have replaced "red," "green," "christmas" (the term used for both red AND green chile on your food), and my personal favorite, "smothered" now that I'm on the other side of the country. As you might expect, New Mexico green chile (particularly Hatch) is difficult to come by in these parts. But, thanks to ZIA and Amazon, I can relive the distinct, spicy flavor of my hometown with this roasted Hatch green chile. br>br>And, speaking of spice levels, ZIA's 'hot' variety packs a punch. It has a pleasant kick to it, and a small amount goes a long way. I recommend the'medium' level if you want to taste the chile's _flavor_ without having to navigate your tastebuds through the burn. br>br>For price/value, I gave 4 out of 5 stars because, well, 13 dollars for a jar of roasted vegetables is a lot of money. But, given the alternative of paying hundreds of dollars for an airline ticket, I consider this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. every- a lot of the time True New Mexico Hatch green chile, on the other hand, is a delicacy that should be savored and appreciated. br>br>(The image accompanying this review is of scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheese, with the ZIA green chile stirred in at the end, about a minute before turning off the heat. ) It's a wonderful way to begin the day.
I've visited New Mexico twice for the sole purpose of eating green chili. When I'm there, I get it all over my body. I purchase jars in order to prepare meals at home. I raise my own hatchery chickens at home. It's a staple food for me, and I use it on everything. br>br>I didn't care for this brand, and I thought it was disgusting. Nowhere in New Mexico serves it like this, which is a strange mix of too chunky and too watery. The onions taste strange, and there's a strange flavor in there that I can't place; I don't think this product was made with much love, and it isn't authentic New Mexico Green Salsa. This is even better than the trader joes hatch valley. I wouldn't buy it again, and I have no intention of finishing this jar. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I just looked at the jar and it wasn't even made in New Mexico; instead, it was made in New York City, which made me think, "NEW YORK CITY?".
a delicious taste I've been missing my fix of Genuine Hatch Green Chile since I moved away from New Mexico five years ago, and I've finally found a way to have it delivered to my home in Indiana. Green Chile stew with pork, red potatoes, and diced tomatoes is a personal favorite of mine. WOW is all I have to say. The medium roast had a nice kick of heat, and the green chile flavor was out of this world. I'm ecstatic to be able to obtain this at such a low price and with such ease. Thank you very much!.
Hatch green chile is available from Zia in three heat levels: mild, medium, and hot. All three are delicious and certified as genuine Hatch green chiles, but while the Mild and Medium will likely meet most people's expectations, the Hot may be mistaken for a "Medium" heat level by some. Green chile from New Mexico comes in a variety of hybrid varieties, each with a different level of heat. The hottest are extremely hot, and you'll have to decide for yourself whether the level of heat meets your expectations. The chile is delicious, but you should try a single jar of the "Hot" before ordering a six-pack. Pack to ensure that the heat level you anticipate is accurate.
It's a fantastic chili. So, if you're an out-of-state Amazon shopper, you can't go wrong with this purchase. The flavor and aroma are fantastic!.
I've used hatch chiles in burgers, hot dogs, pasta, chicken, steak, salads, and eggs thus far. If you enjoy spicy foods, you must give this a try as soon as possible! The hatch chile adds a hint of sweetness and smokiness to the dish. I love adding spice to my food, but it can get a little too hot at times, ruining the flavor and/or making the spice taste too salty. The green hatch chiles, on the other hand, aren't overpowering; they have just enough zip to let you know they're there, and they're not salty. Another interesting feature of these Mexico Hatch Green Chiles is that they can only be grown in the Rio Grande Valley's dry climate, high elevation, and rich soil. I'll definitely order more of these and give them as gifts to my other pepper connoisseur friends and family.
