As a huge fan of lemon and key lime curds, I was surprised to learn that there are even MORE varieties of curds available. In the States we don't have other flavors that are hard to find, or even one that is available online. If you love key lime curd, it is hard to beat raspberry curd as it does not quite have the same tartness. In that way, the raspberry products maintain their characteristic sweetness. If you like, you can layer it with cream cheese or crème fraîche, or add it to grilled cheese or Monte Cristo sandwiches. It goes perfect on English muffins, bagels, toast, pancakes, French toast, donuts (on or inside). This recipe makes a perfect topping for cheesecake or ice cream, and can also be used to fill It can be used as a glaze on salmon and chicken as well. There are so many ways you can use this product other than just topping Probably our favorite way of eating it is with Biscoff instead of regular peanut butter in a fluffernutter. Oh my gosh, that dessert coma was next level.
Just the other day I found Welsh Lady raspberry curd on Amazon. I had never even heard of it before. I loved it so much I bought it I just finished a toasted English muffin spread with it it was tasty. For years, I had only eaten citrus curds, lemon, lime, and oranges, more recently. I made raspberry curd today-- It didn't occur to me until now? Is there a reason not to? The Welsh Lady label (and, yes, the product is made in Wales) says that raspberry juice and lemon juice can be mixed with eggs, butter, sugar, and a (very) few other ingredients. It's an alchemic combination of deadly ingredients that results in a truly divine treat. In addition, unlike some other brands of curd, Welsh Lady uses only eggs as a thickener, not cornstarch. If thinned with a little sherry, it would be a tasty dipping sauce for chicken or pork. The ability to have a couple of jars on hand to choose from is useful, with one in the refrigerator and one in the pantry for backup You will not be able to keep them for.
As layers of cake were thin, I alternated lemon curd between them and raspberry curd between thinner pieces of cake because I wanted the filling between layers to be less sweet than frosting. The result was absolutely awesome, and the curd needed to be at room temperature if it was to be whipped. The cake should be refrigerated due to the curd, but it retains excellent flavor when frozen. (Use it right after opening the jar. ) Since it contains eggs, you need to refrigerate the cake however, it retains excellent flavor when frozen. To make English muffins, I used what was left over instead of jam. I love it.
i used this raspberry curd as a filling in an almond cake and will definitely use it in other recipes. this was my first purchase. i hope it will be a repeat purchase. The cake was the perfect thickness, meaning I did not have to create a dam around the outer The jar of jam was so tasty that I could have eaten it all.
This condiment was supposed to be served to guests during the Christmas holiday, but I opened it to sample it, and I ended up eating a third of it. The curd has a really nice smooth texture, as opposed to some other curd products that have a bit of starchy filler. I have ordered Welsh Lady Preserves curd (apple cinnamon and lemon) before and have always been pleased with the product. Putting too much of them in your body is the only problem.
Very nice, not too sweet, not too tart, does the job for filling in the middle of a chocolate cake perfectly.
The yum yum is real! It was wonderful for my husband, who is from Wales.
