It's basically the end of the world for you. DISH doesn't use the cheap HDDs off the shelf, but rather drives they've encoded to be sourced from one source only. The mounting and cooling of my 612 were superior to that of my 512, I observed when I opened up the case. In addition, the 612 had a SATA interface for transferring data whereas the 512 had an EIDE interface for doing the same. Hence, the 612 needs to be returned to Dish for service *br>There's an alternative to losing all recorded programming - record to an external HDD via the USB port. I believe you're allowed a single external HDD of up to 2GB.
VIP 612 is fairly versatile, but your satellite dish should be DishNet compatible in order for it to work with VIP 612.
Although I am not sure, I believe it is Obviously both would have to be registered with Dish Network, each paying a DVR fee of $7/month, and the input cable would have to be split, which is more than likely doable. It is dish that makes DVRs that can record up to four programs at a time and it recently announced a DVR that does eight programs simultaneously at CES 2014. The DVR services that charge monthly fees seem to be the better option.
If you use this receiver with a dish500, you will be able to receive most HD programs from Dish Network. However, you will not be able to receive all HD programming without upgrading to a dish1000. The serving size is two dishes.

As a result of the old 612 taking a dump after about 10 years, I needed to invest in The company Reiderelectronics has re-submitted a response to our original one It was packaged as if a new box had been manufactured. In addition to the remote and batteries, it also came with a RCA cable, HDMI cable, a user manual, and the splitter and separator needed to record more than one show at a time. It arrived in less than a week, which was faster than I expected. There was no pain involved in the process. The tip is, when you get your receiver go to your computer, punch in the Smart Card and Receiver numbers (I used Word etc. ), and then call Dish when it tells you to do so. When you log in to your account on www. com, click Equipment in the lower right corner, and then click Chat. Explain to the support team you have a new box you want to activate and copy the receiver numbers into the chat box. Rather than repeat all those long numbers over the phone, this will save you the hassle. In total, it took me less than 2 minutes to complete the process. - The dish was great and the product from Reiderelectronics is what I imagined it to be. There is also some credit to be given to Amazon.
is a real pain in the neck. They told us what we needed to buy and all, then when we received it, they said we needed a splitter. Three splitters down, now we find out we need a splitter since we're full time RVers. The shows we watch cannot be recorded. Our experience with Dish has been nothing but negative, but we have too much money invested in our receivers to give them up.
I am extremely happy with my Thank you so much. I am extremely happy with my Upon calling Dish with the serial number, the box arrived well packed with all the necessary materials (remote, splitter, cables, etc) for us to be able to set it up immediately and to begin using it. Two shows can be recorded at the same time with this unit. It was also reasonably priced. I wish you all a very happy camping season!.
Products of high quality.
I bought this nearly a decade ago and it has performed without a hitch and has been an important part of our home theater. Since I don't want to get the new units now, I am very satisfied with this one, which continues to perform well and I hope it will continue to do so for several more years. It was not a problem.
Restored to working like new, this receiver is back to its original state. The set came with cables and a remote. I activated Dish through the chat feature on their website without any glitches It only took a few minutes to complete. This was a very satisfactory transaction for me.
It meets my expectations and is an excellent piece of equipment. As well, it works very well.
I really wanted this for our RV, my husband and I are full-time RVers, and we thought it would be an excellent In our case, we have a rooftop mounted KINGDOME satellite system that would not work with the 612 DVR. However, it will work with the standard 311 DVR, but not with the 612 DVR. As a result, we had to return the unit, but not because it was defective, but because it would not work for our needs.
