Questions & Answers

When it comes to all weather, is it reliable?

The Hopper would not be a good choice in any kind of So far this winter, I have not had a problem with the weather. This time of year it's snowing and raining. It is only since January that I have been using this product and I find it to be extremely irritating. We had one of the worst home security systems I've ever seen. Our favorite thing about this unit is how many hours of recording it gives us because we aren't at home to watch. We can record as much as we want and I can record all of my husband's football, golf, and baseball without worrying about running out of space. There is just not enough warning I can give you. There is quite a bit of work to be done in order to improve it. Carol, best of luck

What kind of smart card is included with this and has it been deactivated by Dush?

In short, yes. Through DISH, it has been deactivated.

Comcast cable triple play rates have increased by 20% a year since I started with them. There is no need for a hopper, I just care if Dish network will survive. ?

Although I believe you will be able to qualify for a good rate as a new customer, the price will go up dramatically once your "promotion" is over. In terms of a two-year contract and rate increases after the first year, the contract obliges you to pay either a large increase in the second year or the early termination charge (they get your credit card number prior to installation and will not In conclusion, I use Comcast for my home phone and internet but rarely use the home phone any more but I realize that after I drop the "bundle" my internet will be higher and I will end up paying close to the same total. When I called my home phone company to cancel, the customer service representative offered me a discount of $25 for the next six months without asking me to commit to any contract extension. Try just calling and telling them you are thinking about moving elsewhere, and then see if they will give you a discount if you stay with them. Having Dish Network and a high-definition TV service is a much better idea There is no competition between Comcast and Directv for the price and programming options available with on demand. My house sitters who have Comcast say they can watch on demand for days without getting bored because it is such good programming. These choices are better than those of Dish or Directv.

The hopper has been smuggled out (meaning someone else has it) how can I tell if the dish has it?

You should be aware before you buy this that Dish recently updated the software on all its hoppers to the version that is designed for the Hopper 3 (the one There are many differences between the Hopper 3 and the previous Hoppers (Hopper 1, and Hopper 2 with Sling). Running the new software on the Hopper 1 is like running Windows on an old 386 PC, rather than Hopper 3. It is impossible to avoid this issue because all the software is updated over the air and it is impossible to block. As of right now, the Hopper 3 is the only Hopper that offers a reasonable performance.

Hope you have a great day! A 2 Hopper system was already installed in my 5th wheel, but I wanted a 4 Hopper system
5/5

Therefore, I purchased the Amazon Hopper for a substantial discount compared to everywhere else that I could find it. Hopper is a system I love. It's true that there were some bugs when the system first came out. But now they're pretty much all fixed. There is no doubt that this satellite system is by far the best out there between Prime Time Anytime and Autohop.

It's been a week since I started using it, and I'm Our account manager recommended we upgrade to the Hopper when we called Dish about changing our subscription
5/5

Due to the fact that we had 3 DVRs and only 1 had HD, we got HD on everything and were able to save money.

I started reading the reviews, and I started to get a little worried. The Hopper is really disliked by some people! It has been an absolute pleasure to be in the other camp after a week. The Hopper (upgraded from 722 and 625) is "new" technology, so you do not want to learn it or dislike change if you are unhappily resistant to learning it. different from what I was expecting. So with that said, I am using the device and I have not yet read Pros and cons. I. - I was very pleased with the service and support. Both the customer service rep and the technician were very I. - The technical issues other people have mentioned have never come up for me. would suggest that a bad installation or an older system may be to blame. I. - It is great to be able to record from one location and watch it anywhere! I. - A recording of PrimeTime is automatically done - I would like to put colored buttons on the top menu buttons so that you can navigate or record/pause etc. Less footprint on the environment. They are much smaller than I. - The ability to create custom folders for storing recordings. I. - These are the default recording options. I. - There is an easy way to see what is going on between tuners 1,2 and To press the red button (press the red button) - The Hopper can be switched from one to another easily if you have more than one. I. - Thanks for the feature that lets you recover deleted shows! I. - The list goes on. A few cons- Searching and recording are not as good as they should be. The default setting is to select all channels, and not the one you're watching at the moment. I. - A search doesn't create if you use a single word or part of it. Like a search for 'Rake' will give you both It is important to choose exact (you should be more specific). My opinion is that exact should always be the default. The amount of data recorded by PrimeTime is astonishing. Would be nice to be able to tell people I am not interested in There is nothing you don't get. We are looking for the following configuration Please do not record any of the news channels on channels 5 or 11, etc. Now that I know I can use it, would I sign up I'd be there in a heartbeat! My last working as a Dish employee was about four years ago. I have been a Dish customer for many years. If AT&T offered me the option I would gladly switch My first choice would be to go with either AT&T or Comcast, depending on the offer. The brand I like doesn't matter to me (i. e. I'm not loyal to a.

My verdict is that it is not a good choice
3/5

I usually don't let bad reviews build up, but I am returning it after just five days. After I had my old DISH receiver for years and it started acting up, I did not have any choice, and decided to replace it with a hopper instead of a regular satellite receiver. With all the hype surrounding hopper, it may seem like it can skip all ads, but it does so only for pre-roll ads Recorded prime time programs, which I did not use, because I rarely record prime time, then too the skip forward button works in regular receivers, so I did not really see any benefit in the recorder. There are multiple steps to record programs, making it much less efficient than the recorder on the old receiver. This recording of the programs is in a different and reality, the only benefit of the hopper is its larger hard drive, so for most other tasks it is much more complicated. Close captioning with mute button does not work. Just when I was attempting to record Wimbledon matches for next week, the straw came down. There are different channels showing the matches in an old receiver I simply went to the sports, tennis feature and selected that. Then it would display all of the tennis matches for the next week, I could then select the ones I wanted to record. Hopper has no such feature, the only way to record Wimbledon matches is to go through ESPN, Tennis Channel, and NBC individually to record them. This program would not record a partial program because it was already on a timer that day, so I suppose it could only do that if I deleted the previous timer. I would recommend sticking with the older better recording methods,.
