Questions & Answers

What is the capability of this unit's FM receiver in listening to digital FM?

The units were built for use only in Australia and the United States. These features can be found in Asia, Europe, and Russia. Unlike Canada, no digital FM stations can be found in the U.S., based on the manual.

Does this phono input suffice if I have a turntable? Do I still need a preamp if I have a turntable?

There is no need to worry about the phono. Amplify your receiver by connecting it to an amplifier. Having been a loyal Pioneer fan for many years, I'm beginning to feel like they are going downhill since they were bought by CRAPPIO - I mean, ONKYO. Due to its Dolby Atmos capability, it is one of the best receivers available. There is no need for Purchasing a preamp is the only way to avoid buying a receiver if you do not intend to buy one.

If zone two is covered in a 5, it will support zone two. What are the differences between the 2 configurations?

The answer is both yes and no. What you intend to do with the primary listening area depends on the configuration. As it was advertised as a 7, I mention it only as a point of information. With Zone 2 capability, you have a receiver 2. If you want it for 5, you can configure it that way. To answer your question, I will write as follows In the case of configuring the primary listening area with 5, you should use the following configuration. When 2 is present, the answer is yes. Zone 2 will also be supported (i.e. Music in a different room from the primary listening area). The receiver should be set to Zone 2 in order for Zone 2 to work. Because the number of channel amplifiers is limited, this is the reason. This receiver will work as a 7 if you configure it that way. You will lose the ability to use Zone 2 on a Zone 2 system. As a net Someday you might want 7 if you think it would be nice. If you want Zone 2 and Zone 3 capabilities then you need to upgrade to the Yamaha RX-2000

Would you be able to let me know what type of voltage it accepts, 110, 220 or both if I wanted to use it outside the US?

This audio player has excellent sound with features that are very simple to use
5/5

It is difficult to explain how good the audio reproduction is with the Yamaha. Approximately 15 years ago, I replaced a Denon receiver with one having HDMI features (the Denon receiver was similar in price, but I believe had a bit more power) but I am happy to report that the Denon receiver works just fine with the same speakers The following is a bilingual article Amplified) I can hear more clearly all across the Listening to music is easy since there are several modes you can choose from / disable if you like. I recently shifted from version 2 to version 3. In 1 to 5, there are five parts. Since the receiver does a good job distributing the sound, it strikes the ear as more clear and more pleasant. Please note that As a rule, the audio signal only in channel mode is not included in the sub, at least when you have it set for bi-directional (I haven't tested it other than with an amp). It's hard not to love albums by B or Funk). It's relatively easy to configure the receiver for sound any way you want, tailored to your speakers and room, and switch it around on the fly easily depending on the type of music or mood you want to listen to. It's easy to use the video features. I am able to receive the 4k signal on my VCR as well as my analog signal. Blade Runner 2 in 4K and 5K was recently on my list of films to see. As for both visuals and sound, both were out of this world in quality and clarity. Note also that the RX-200 has an auxiliary power supply An A1080 does an excellent job of taking an old stereo signal and converting it to a five-channel signal. There is only one VHS tapes from my old Disney movies sound pretty good. The last feature I found to be particularly appealing was the option of listening to music from any source (record, ipod, CD player, USB) simultaneously with passing video signals from another device through to the television. With this, I can enjoy video games while also listening to music at the same time. You can achieve this by using the dedicated "zone 2" HDMI out to a separate HDMI input on your TV, and then figuring out what input to turn your TV to. the controller toggle at the top of the remote is set to "zone 2" and that the power button is pressed (even if the main zone is already on, you should turn on zone 2) The first few days after setting it up, I couldn't figure out what was going on. Games are played over the TV speakers, with the audio being passed through Your speaker setup does not allow you to mix audio from the main zone and zone two. Despite being well balanced, heavier than expected, and feels good in the hands, the controller is well crafted and well designed. On the back-side As for the light, it seems to make a great touch, though I wish it remained on a bit * NOTE *UPDATE Using the software for a couple months, it continues to work as it should. Playing on the receiver through the USB port has proven to be seamless. The receiver plays both AIF and AAC files A FLAC file, a MP4, or a MP3 file. I can tell you that the lossless stuff I've learned from USB has totally changed my life. The Yamaha appears to only accept flash drives that are 16 gigabytes in size, formatted FAT, which is a bit limiting but adequate. I have been listening to giant uncompressed AIF files on one of my progressive rock albums for over an hour, and nothing seems to be overwhelming my It's the same as a CD in that the songs flow into each other. Moreover, the receiver supports the display of file tags on the screen, so they can be seen Sadly, the receiver does not interface with an iPod or an iPhone, so if that is your preferred method, you'll need to use an analog out (I highly recommend using a line out from a dock, rather than from the headphones An audible difference has been noted in some laboratory testing). The Following Updating

UPDATE In spite of heavy use over the past few months, bluetooth, musicast, and streaming music features on both zones continue to function as intended. It is true that multi-generational households are becoming more prevalent A track file WILL NOT play, regardless of the format or the source (streaming or It is currently the only unit that I am disappointed with so far.

I understand, but I cannot get multi-channel For example, 6x24b96) The 15-pound unit was replaced with a 10-pound unit The year is It was the old model There is a V1 version As far as the software is concerned, it does work fine, however I was disappointed with its built-in DLNA support (Windows media streaming), one of the key features I updated my computer Like previous Yamaha A/V receivers, I only found out too late that it supported a maximum of two speakers Files on my media server are in 6-channel FLAC format, not 5-channel CDs) are audio discs
4/5

The responsibility rests with It would have been better if I had read the specs more carefully DLNA browsing on the unit is also supposed to be bugged - a generic solution cannot be found. The directory structure is not visible on my media server I only see a list of artists or albums alphabetically. When I try to browse by folders, the UI comes up again at the top.

Once again, Yamaha does it with the A-class RX-series of the Yamaha Motor Corporation AV receivers in the Aventage performance line are one of the best there are
5/5

In the A1080, they've put out a truly impressive receiver. In this unit, the DAC is cranked up and produces very high definition audio, whether the source is streaming, Bluetooth (display screen shows information), or CD from your iPhone, iPod, MacBook, or In addition to the numerous music surround soundfields and the microphone set-up, the game surprisingly includes a small series of hidden screens Room calibration with up for room is extremely easy to use and very In the AV field, you may still need to adjust the receiver manually here and there to get it perfect to your liking, but that is normal for any AV receiver I have used in the past. There's something special about the FM Tuner from Yamaha, for some reason, because it sounds better than its competitions so if you still listen to your local radio stations, Yamaha is a better pick. Cable/satellite/video streaming works perfectly through the ARC HDMI input and it has a substantial array of AV inputs. As for the video quality for gaming, as well as the surround mode options, they're either excellent or very good. Movies are fantastic, regardless of what source they are on, whether they are DVD, Blu Ray, or 4K Ultra HD. A combination of audio and visuals will take your breath away. It's important to keep in mind that this is a mid-level assignment The range goes from just under a high In order to interpret the playback this machine is capable of, you will need a receiver that can interpret the output. Speakers at the entry level are good, but are best matched with speakers at the entry level To maximize their potential, AV components need to be balanced to maximize their effectiveness. With Defintive Technology's BP speakers and Integra's CDC 3, I'm able to run all of the apps I need. With the Yamaha A-470, you'll be able to play four CDs Running a 5 is easy for me. There are two surrounds and two subwoofers in the room)

The A- is this A 1080 receiver operates warmer than any receiver in the Yamaha "V" line, but not as hot as a Marantz or Integra receiver. In a case with more than 3 inches free space on top, you should be fine. If you have only 2 inches free space, an AIRCOM cooling unit (or external fans designed specifically for components) may not be a bad idea (it can't hurt). As a precaution, take the following measures. This A-grade is the best It is true that the 1080 does not have the new IMAX technology that some of the updated AV receivers from other manufacturers seem to include. Neither one of them mattered to me. This might not be the case for others. Apps for Yamaha's AV system are one of its greatest features. To my mind, it's still the best out there. As well as the Yamaha MusiCast app, there is the Linear Artist app. Considering this is a big, somewhat heavy receiver around 17" deep, you will need at least a 16"-wide shelf to place it on the shelf The cabinet and/or shelf must be at least 18 inches deep. There are a few more buttons on the remote than you would find on an Integra or Onkyo, but understanding it isn't hard, and this remote ILLUMINATES when buttons are pressed, so you can illuminate the entire remote if the room is dim. A big display screen makes it easier for those who may get distracted to read and dimmer controls allow those who get distracted to dim the screen. For me, large displays aren't a problem, so I'm always happy with them. I have a word of advice When buying anything like this, always make sure you get a service contract. Give yourself peace of mind when investing in anything electronic, especially in the middle of the year. You can categorize your range by There is no infallible thing in the world. The fact is, no matter what you spend on something, it will break. This is why most unhappy customers fail to protect their investment and leave bad reviews. Basically, it is their fault for not protecting their investments In the event that you purchase the Yamaha RX-X, it comes with the following features I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how well A1080 performs.

high-quality receiver well worth the asking price
5/5

This great receiver is worth every penny. These past few weeks, I have been on the lookout for a receiver that fits my needs. As an initial purchase, I bought a less expensive Sony unit that lacked the features I wanted or did not have the sound quality that I sought. As a result of reading all the positive reviews, I decided to get the Denon X3500H. The receiver was difficult to operate, the setup menus were unintuitive, the remote appeared cheap, and the audio sound quality was unnatural, bright and too bright with my Klipsch RP-90 surround speaker system. It is a speaker model 8000F. This unit has been a huge improvement after I returned the old one. It is an RX-type device There are plenty of features in the A1080 that result in a warm, natural soundstage. There is a soft touch material on the backlit remote and it feels good to the touch. It is a product I could not be more pleased with.
