Portable HD sound system that sounds great
5/5

Due to my purchase of HDR-compatible equipment, I would like to apologize to you It was out of stock on Amazon at the time I ordered 16, so I ordered it from another seller. As soon as this radio was announced, I became interested in it. Almost a week ago, I received it. It is a new technology, and I'd like to run through each aspect of it separately. I'd also like to make a few general comments about HD radio for anyone who might be considering this technology for the first time. The sound quality is excellent. There are separate bass and treble controls using an electronic control on the volume control of this radio, and the speakers appear to be of high quality. The result is that you can tailor the sound anywhere from brassy to deep, with both the bass and treble playing a role in a realistic, satisfying way. (I'm not a fan of muddy sound, and I get very good bass mixed with a "sparkling" treble out of this radio when I set It is possible to receive AM radio waves. When it comes to AM radio, this radio is a beast. There are lots of radios I own, such as a Grundig Satellit 700 and a Panasonic RF-S700 The 2200 and GE Superadio are two of the most powerful models currently available. There are some nuances when you get to higher levels of performance and I'm not yet ready to say that it's better or as good as any other radio, but the reception at this point appears to be OK. HD on AM is nice as the difference in sound quality is really noticeable. (Switching from regular AM to HD AM is like switching from low-priced to ordinary diesel Using Skype to make a phone call. 2) After the HDR, A number of distant AM stations could even be picked up in HD during the night when 16 was switched on The station (WCBS/880 New York) was almost 1,000 miles away in one case.
Appearance and design. A sharp-edged razor An outer cabinet in gloss black looks nice, nicely finished - This radio has a fold-flat handle for when you're using it as a table top radio and not a portable radio. Unlike some displays, this one is bright, large, and

Operations and Controls. It feels like the controls are extremely responsive An important attribute. In addition to two alarms, an internal clock, and a menu/setup system, it has two alarms. It should not be too difficult to operate any of them. It is a second language An HDR-compatible cable can be plugged in to use the HDR-compatible feature Using a 3. 66-inch screen, this speaker system is the perfect matching unit for your phone or tablet. It would be more convenient to connect to this radio via a 5 mm cable because the audio quality is so good. There is a Record Out jack that can provide a fixed audio level to an external recorder or amplifier - this is a nice feature. It is not possible to receive FM signals. While the reception of HD appears to be somewhat better than that of either of these, there are not a lot of differences between the HD reception of various FM radio stations. As far as I can tell, the primary issue you face with FM HD is the FCC's limitations on the power of HD signals, which are much low than the frequency ranges for analog. As for analog FM, this radio is one of the best I've ever used. HD FM is more limited in reception than analog. If you wish to listen to HD FM, you need to keep that in mind. You will be far away if you are farther than 30-minutes away In an area that is 35 miles from the tower of the station, you may have to experiment with different radio positions and (perhaps) an external antenna to latch onto the station(s). There is an approximate 45-mile distance between my location and the transmitter sites of many HD stations, and reception is mostly reliable on some channels, fair on others, and very difficult on others. get the best results if you are able to put it on a second or higher floor, when you are near an exterior wall or (even better) an exterior window, or outside. Then you don't have to worry about any of this if you live or work near a big city. There are additional HD subchannels available on HD FM if you aren't familiar with it. Your radio will show HD2 or HD3 if you are not familiar with HD radio. The nearest station with an HD4 does not exist within walking distance for me, but I believe it is is the digital version of the scroll through each subchannel, first let the radio lock onto the HD1 signal, then move the tuning knob clockwise one click. The radio will display the HD designation without any number after it when this is the case. I've used, including this one, is that if you have HD station but can't switch the radio into HD mode, the main analog channel will sound like it's not You have to change the orientation of the antenna to correct this (which might result in slightly reduced signal strength). As soon as the radio is no longer detecting an HD signal, it will cease attempting to switch into HD, allowing normal reception to resume. The majority of stations that fall into this category can be irritating if you listen to them for long periods of time. Other than sharing this oddity of all HD radios, which most likely stems from some peculiarity of the IC used to decode HD, the FM performance is exceptional, as it is an analog FM unit. It is possible to get, for instance, a digital-only version of a It is the only FM station that transmits at a distance of 90 miles -- and the frequency of this station's transmitter is adjacent to that of a station with a transmitter and tower just three miles away. Despite the fact that there are a lot of radios I own, most of them are not able to pick up this station as the nearby strong signal completely overpowers this weak The radio I own is one of just a few devices I own that can pick up that type of signal. There has been no opportunity to check battery life so far - the original ones that I put in are still working, obviously. I want to thank Sangean for using the longer one A "C" battery is longer lasting than the current "D" batteries A nearly-perfect score The battery pack has a universal "AA" size. There is also an AC adapter included. Since I own many Sangean products and am familiar with their quality, I had high hopes for this radio as well. You will not be disappointed with it. I have to say the sound quality is one of the biggest features, followed closely by AM and analog FM sensitivity and selectivity. The HD portables sector is a small but growing one, so it is an excellent addition to the market.

I hope you enjoy this The 16 is a HIGHLY versatile portable radio that has also been designed to operate as a tuner

I have a hard time writing a good review on I find it hard to provide an honest opinion here, since I am unsure whether or not I want to keep It was this radio that I chose after doing research on which brand and radio model I wanted
3/5

There is a good side to it A simple setup with simple buttons, simple tuning, and simple volume controls. Other radios have 100 buttons I cannot figure out, but this one doesn't have that problem. I really like the sound coming from the speakers. THINGS TO AVOID You can see the HD radio coming in and out as you listen. There is a noticeable difference when it drops out, the music adjusts, the lights flicker and it is very disruptive. The only HD I get is when the device is on batteries, something about plugging it in the wall makes static, resulting in There is a serious flaw here. My deal breaker for this is the fact that this isn't optional. In addition, it doesn't seem to matter how close I bring this to the window, I can't get consistent reception (despite the fact that I'm in NYC). The reception on this radio for the most part is actually better than that from my older dial-in boombox. Also, did I mention it seems very fragile? It's very likely that this thing will fall over on the table and break the plastic for only $100. You feel like you're using a $25 radio, not a $100 one. Additionally, we had the annoying yellow light, which came on and off every time HD went on and off. It doesn't look like I'll be keeping this, but I've got a few more days to think about it.
