Not at all. There are two outlets on this device. A radio connects one to the antenna, the other to the radio. To run the cable from the radio to the meter, I bought a 2 foot cable.
There are a lot of factors involved. Cables must be shielded and have good quality. If you plan to connect a cable to a power source, make certain it's not near a surge protector or anything else that could cause Metal pipes and cables should stay away from each other. Ensure you have a good antenna and that it runs in the right location.

Small, fragile and extremely liberal with calibration, this is not for the faint of heart. The swr can be measured 5 times on a small wattage and have 5 different variables that are not close to each other. I feel embarrassed for having purchased this when I could have purchased another Surecom. It's like a toy you find in a 25 cent gumball machine. I'm dismayed at the financial waste. On rock bottom electronics like this, there should be some level of quality control.
This has been helpful to me in several different settings. My Firestix 5 foot antenna consistently reported that I was not getting the length right. After two tries, I bought a brand different from the one I usually buy. You are free to draw your own conclusions.
CB is useless if it is not connected to a tester by jumpers. There is a good chance that you will be out at a CB shop within a week or two unless you scroll though all the Q/A and realize the connectors aren't included. A $15 bill. It would be helpful if images of those not included were listed. The product is good, but the description is incomplete.
These old school SWR meters work much better than those electronic ones that you have to spend hours in order to get them to work, so you keep them.

The price was very reasonable and it works great for me. I have a Cb radio that does not include a SWR meter this one was accurate enough for me to set my standing wave on my little Willy mag mount antenna. Since the antenna is not perfect, please help me set it to just about.
It is able to do the job It was packaged in a factory new condition. The dial was easily set to the desired "set" zone for me. Tuning my antenna has not been a problem. It makes me wonder about some of the other reviews that portray this unit negatively. As far as I'm concerned, it works fine.
Thank you so much for your help! It seems to work fine. I give it five stars because it seems to Seeing as I haven't used another meter to compare it with, it would be unfair to lower this rating. In the process of adjusting my base antenna, I'm using it again. The swr light on my meter had a tendency to flash occasionally when transmitting before buying it. This is no longer the case. I'm so happy!.
