Units lie to each other all the time. On this unit 5X, there is no internal mapping, and there are no cards or anything else that can display a map. False visual ads are displayed on the visual advertising. Even the box it came in depicted a marine map, so I bought the 5X based on advertisements that showed a It looks as if Lowrance is putting a less advanced model 5X into the box for its five. Several blank white screens can be found on it, and a white GPS screen is displayed. You make your way points on these screens and refer to them when needed. You can't find a map there! I urge you to stop the cheap nonsense and tell people what they are really buying. The situation is not good! You have to watch a tutorial on YouTube on how to use the 7 Hook Reveal and compare that to the 5X Lowrance, if you really hope to learn how to use the 5X Lowrance. Laughing out loud, that's what you are! I finally gave up on the 5X due to some additional problems I encountered with it and I bought a Hummingbird. The Hummingbird comes with an instruction manual that covers everything I need to know. We will never do business with Lowrance again.
WE ARE BACK AT WORK! I like this unit so far. There is a bit of a learning curve, but nothing too difficult if you are an experienced user of fish finders. My GPS plotter is basically useless and I'm disappointed at how it works, but I didn't buy it for that since I didn't really need it. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase. Downscan, Sidescan and Sonar are all very useful, wish it was a bit cheaper but I would still recommend it. EDIT
The 18th of July, 2021 It was set up to do some mapping on a pond/lake today, but it is showing a white screen with water temp and speed but no sonar, down scan, etc. It says "Stopped" and can't connect to the Currently, I am unable to locate information on this issue, so I am unsure how to proceed. We have returned it to its working condition and it was a stupidly simple fix as well. I said it was an easy fix, but it isn't. My last contact with Lowrance was more than six weeks ago, and I have yet to receive a response.
