You need to read the instructions before asking stupid questions! Read the comments as well
5/5

People seem to have a problem wrapping their heads around the fact that there are no maps included with A GPS is installed in the device. By creating its own map, it determines the best route to take. Also, I see a lot of stupid questions relating to the waterproofness of the transducer. I think that all of the stupid questions are from the same boaters who end up in the water with their trucks or launch their boats without plugs.

I would not recommend buying cheap junk from NO MAPS! There is no reason for Garmin to be proud There is nothing to be proud of about this thing! It is a shame that Garmin is in the news
3/5

On several of my boats and my motoryacht, I have Garmin navigation systems. Previously I owned a 21ft tender that I bought for my yacht. This is a small, combination unit that I purchased for this tender. I can't find any charts on that thing! There is no such thing as So I have an old garmin 76 with charts in it from 2005. Don't tell me it's a memory thing, as memory has only gone down as it costs less in general. Now I have a transducer mounted to my boat which is in water and now what? I will never buy garmin equipment again after discovering this piece of pathetic junk. That's exactly what you just did to me ruin my perception of your brand. A GPS device that does not show you a single street would be like selling me a car radio that has GPS but does not show you your coordinates. Garmin will never see my $300 again! It's time to go back to Raymarine. I would have spent more, money isn't the issue here deceit is. A fish finder with a completely useless and non-upgradable GPS receiver that does absolutely nothing was delivered to my home as a combo unit for a tender.

It is not possible to generate charts
3/5

It is of no use to have a GPS. There are no charts included with the unit and no way to upgrade it. The picture on the box and the website shows a boat on a chart. The unit should be loaded with charts. There is a section in the manual that talks about Wi-Fi SD cards and Wi-Fi are both available for uploading, but there is no slot for cards nor any Wi-Fi In terms of a depth finder, it is fine, but the GPS is not that useful unless you just want to watch your boat sit there On the box and in the web, the picture of the boat is placed on a chart, but I cannot figure out why. Garmin really confused me. It's my fault. Don't hold back on the spending if you're just after a depth finder. DR your way home if you want to know where you are.

A great base model from Garmin I do not have any complaints
5/5

There are some people who don't read the descriptions of the products or don't search for reviews on YouTube. They do that on Amazon and you can see how that shows up in the There is nothing special about this particular Garmin GPSMAP unit, other than the fact that it has their great traditional and clear view technology, comparable to that of their GPSMAP units that cost three times as much the screen display is sufficient for the price. The tablet has a split screen and a dual-screen Although the frequency display of the traditional sonar seems a bit overkill for the price point, it offers an added luxury many will never take advantage of. A great feature of ClearView is the ability to run it traditional and clear view. The transducer included in this system is less than $300, and it has a lot of technology and an easy-to-use menu. We need to find a solution to the complaints that there are no About 58,700 natural lakes and 53,119 manmade lakes can be found in the United States alone even the higher end Garmins only contain maps for about 17,000 of these lakes. On lakes you frequent, this feature is easy to use. All you have to do is search for instructional videos on YouTube and you will learn how to use it. This is not the fancy box you saw on your favorite fishing TV show. It's not the fancy box you'll see at the local marina hosting offshore fishing boats either. A budget sonar with basic capabilities, no wifi, no active captain, and no SD slot, that's why you won't find it for more than $300. I'll beat a dead horse, "it's the In addition to having Striker 5cv installed on a 16' aluminum boat, I have a dual Garmin 76xx on a Grady White G120, so I am well acquainted with both the 76xx and the base unit. It's better to open your wallet to a far greater degree and move on from the Striker if you want the capabilities of the higher end sonar/gps. In any case, this is a good little boat box for kayaks and small boats.

Drawing maps is not part of her job
3/5

This device seemed to be capable of creating topographical maps based on its description. This is not the case. Maps cannot be created, as it track GPS coordinates and path but does keep track of the coordinates. This would have kept me from buying the unit if I had known. Very disappointed in it.

I warn you
3/5

Despite the fact that it is a Minn Kota trolling motor, this unit does not work with it. As soon as the trolling motor comes on, it gets a lot of interference. I have tried everything and still there is Simply switch units to Lowrance and you will no longer have problems. It's also kind of pointless to have the mapping feature on the unit. If you want charts, you can get a unit with them on it or get a I wouldn't buy this product.

Now that I've used this gps for couple months, I really like it. I really like it! If I could find a video or instructions on how to use the mapping program.
