Sturdy and well-made created a unit The fish finder on the boat can be placed in a variety of positions. The lack of a clear explanation on how to connect to the track system (the video on the YakAttack website appears to skip this step) is one flaw. So, for those of you who are having trouble, I created my own video. Ignore the naysayers who claim it doesn't work with perception Gear Trac or other track systems. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I ended up removing the middle link from the mount because I didn't need the arm to extend quite as far or as high as it does in the mount for my kayak. On the first try, it worked perfectly.
I like how stable it is and how easy it is to adjust it; I can even tilt it to lay "flat" (facing up) when I'm fishing and want to look down at the screen. This stand does everything you could possibly want and adjusts in a variety of ways. **5 out of 5 stars *
br>Contrary to popular belief, br>It's a bit pricey; more than $40 for something like this seems a bit excessive. **Dismiss one star. *
br>The unattractive: br>The track mount base is not included and must be purchased separately for an additional $10. And the fact that the base isn't included isn't made clear in this listing. It actually says "with Track Mounted LockNLoad Mounting System" - which is correct. Is it possible that I was supposed to get the track mount but didn't? In any case: **Lose one star*
br>As a result, I can only give this a 3/5 due to the exorbitant price of well over $50 for a fish. (albeit a good one) finder stand, and a very shabby-looking camera. product description that has been carefully worded.
For those who gave it a one-star rating. Obviously, the rail to which this mount is to be attached is not included. It is never stated that the rail is included, so you are to blame for not reading the description. This is a very well-made fish finder mount, and I like how it locks, allowing me to easily transport the entire mount (minus the base piece). This mount is superior to the railblaza in my opinion.
So, I ordered this item, and it fits on my hook2 5", but it does not include the geartrac that is shown in the picture? It's not good business to charge 45 dollars and not inform customers that they must purchase the mount for the MOUNT.
P. Because the mount appears to be a great product once I get another mount, I gave it one star and no mount for the mount!.
For the past five years, I've been fishing with my Humminbird Helix 5. There are six different outings to choose from. It's extremely stable, and the two tilt-adjustment points function flawlessly. My track mount on my old town topwater pdl just doesn't fit it snugly enough. I'm not going to buy another mount for a while because it does the job; it's just that the track mount is super wobbly and doesn't tighten up.
The Garmin 4cv fits perfectly on this, and even though there were no instructions, the top part was simple to install - It's a different story when it comes to the yak trak - I'm not stupid, but either my base is broken or missing, and I can't tighten it once it's in the track - Any yakattack videos I've seen were either completely useless or showed a completely different base than the one I have - I'll rig it up to make it work, but man, what the hell is going on here?br>br>Edit: Without the instructions, I had no way of knowing whether or not the fast release clip could be fully opened without breaking - After that, the piece needed to screw the base down onto the track fell out of its jam and I was able to use it as intended - I'm not an idiot, but they should include instructions because I had no way of knowing - My one-star rating reflects the inconvenient nature of the experience.
I had no idea what to expect and was worried about the mounting option's strength and security. I'm confident in the Kayak's security after several months of use and about ten outings. Having an expensive piece of electronic equipment mounted on a Kayak (Hobie Outback) may seem risky at first, but this mount is safe and easy to adjust for optimal viewing. I had assumed I'd require a safety lanyard, but breaking this mount would be extremely difficult. It holds up well during surf launches and is simple to put on and take off.
It depends on which gear track you attach to. This mount has exceeded my expectations so far. The mount is sturdy in and of itself, but if you want a rock-solid installation, you must also consider the gear track you're mounting to. a firm foundation br>br>I used a Yakattack geartrac (plastic) as a mounting platform for mine. On stability, it's fine, but I can see why this mount has been labeled "unstable" by some. Because it is made of plastic, the geartrac in my case has some flex. This allows the mount to sway just a little bit. It is not an issue for me because I have a striker 4, which is a small and light unit. br>br>The moral of the story is that if you want to use this to mount a heavier fish finder, make sure you get a VERY sturdy mounting track to go with it. It's best if it's made of aluminum and has mounting screws on both sides of the gear track rather than just down the center. br>br>Again, stability isn't an issue with lighter fish finders like the Striker 4. It's not a big deal if the mount has a little bit of wiggle room. I've given this mount a lot of abuse while out on the water, and it's held up well.
