In these days, it is difficult to find a standalone tuner - There are few choices today Sangean, the latest companies to discontinue their remaining models, are among the latest to do so. That's why I was happy to find a rental unit at an affordable price. I like how the sound is and how it can be configured very easily. My favorite thing about these rack mounts is that they can be removed for esthetics. For me, the only drawback (and it's a minor one) is that the very bright power indicator LED is on when the unit is not in use. There is a lot of speed (a few minutes per day) in the unit, but I'm not sure it's connected to the unit.

A remote is required to turn on the tuner, which was not included when the tuner was shipped. The remote is necessary to even tune in to stations. Documentation is scant and does not include a telephone number. When you searched the web for the number, support reports that their inbox was full. A remote would not have been included, so I would not have kept the unit. Having a look at it was fun.
