Questions & Answers

Can this tuner output digital signals via coaxial or optical cables? The back of this unit isn't shown in any photos. ?

Optical and electrical capabilities are included in this unit It provides coaxial output side by side. You can view specs, etc. by searching for the model number.

Could this radio be used with an external yagi roof antenna connected using RG6 coax cable? Is there a built-in antenna or is it permanently connected?

In Andrew's words Sangean is equipped with an FM input for 75-watt radios Your external antenna will connect to the RG6 wire so it has an ohm (RG6) so it is compatible. It comes with a FM loop antenna, but I use an external antenna and it works perfectly.

Receivers such as this one support HD-TV How many signals are there?

The answer is yes. The manual says there are three kinds of HD, HD 1, HD 2 and HD 3.

Does it store station memories if you unplug it or lose its ?

This is my first shot in a while. I have a Sangean HDR-80 There is a radio called the "18" that operates very similarly to this receiver. disconnected it in order to move it and I did not lose any radio stations I had set up.

Selected User Reviews For Sangean HDT-20 HD Radio/FM-Stereo/AM Component Tuner Black

This radio has good HD quality, has no unnecessary features, and does not require a 1U housing
3/5

I think Sony and other HD radios have an advantage that other HD radios don't they're small! While I like it, it has a few flaws Is it really necessary to make it this large? This is not the case. There is no other HD tuner on the market, so there is no other manufacturer we can rely on, but these guys didn't put enough thought into design or planning our There is no need to have the volume, mute, sleep, alarm, alarm1, and alarm2 on the front of this device. The only way I would be ecstatic would be if they made a 1/2 space unit without that crud. Do you have an idea of the number of users who use a full 1U sized receiver Your stereo rack would have benefitted from this item. In addition, I dislike LED lights or glowy lights that remain on even if they aren't connected to the power (especially blue lights). A strange behavior occurs when you turn on the unit first it lights up, then goes dark after a few moments. You can see a light come on when you power it off. In my opinion, it's kind of backwards. In a muted shade of blue, the display is displayed. There is no white person on this planet Poor pictures can be found on Amazon. However, the display doesn't stay on, and when it is, it's )

Now for With a 3 out of 5, it's There is a 5mm headphone jack on the front (not necessary). It has coax (RCA) SPDIF jacks on the back (THANK YOU!!! The sound card includes the following -) plus L/R analog RCA outputs. What was the reason for my purchase? While I am in front of my computer, working on my studio/office, I want to have better sounding FM and to be able to receive secondary stations. Now, let's get to the In LA there are a lot of HD+ stations, but I have no idea how it compares to other cities. While there are a few fades in and out of HD feeds, it also picks up a few I wasn't aware of. In this case, we need It's good to be here. However, if a 1/2 size or smaller unit was available, it would be ideal If I had the money, I'd buy one It would be nice for all American receivers and AVRs to have HD tuners built in-- Almost all car audio systems utilize this technology! The following are a few things I would Problem #1) The gigantic You can tell this by the fact that it spins REALLY slowly when you turn it. This problem has been fixed If you are in the USA, click here You need to set the TUNING REGION to 87 while you are going through the setup. Item 9 to Item 13 I believe that B will suffice A 200 kHz sine wave is circulated in the air It would be easier and faster to use the manual tuning dial if it didn't spin and spin and you couldn't A push on the dial will seek up the frequency (or preset) if you last dialed UP, a push on the dial will seek down the spectrum if you last dialed down. In addition to those buttons, there is also a seek up/down button. To go to an alternate / piggyback HD station, you must first lock a HD station (even if it was programmed as a preset) before you can tune the alternate/piggyback station. We must wait a few seconds for the silence to pass. Those are not the ones you can reach directly by turning the dial. I'll move on to presets now Issue # 2) How do I create a ten preset list? Is that so? Can you ten? I am so grateful for your generosity! It's just 10 FM or 10 AM) Big whoopee! At least 20 presets per band? If there aren't more than 10 HD stations in your area, remember that it can also tune regular FM stations. So, I think asking for more than 10 presets isn't unreasonable at all, given I'm having an issue # 3) With the buttons. Are we a little over the top when it comes to the buttons? Is there a sale going on for the items? To get to a preset station you need to hit the "preset" button first, and then the button that corresponds to your station preset - I understand they are dual-purpose, but it shouldn't be that hard. IDEA THAT IS REALLY DUMB! The reality is that, by accident, if you achieve preset 6 (which is "menu" by default), you get into the setup functions and accidentally change things, and then you have to wait until it times out to exit This is stupid! In the "6" / menu section, the more you click the more your score will decrease The more it cycles through the setup functions, the more chances there are for you to make a mistake. It is not possible to go back right away, you have to wait until the process is completed! When pushing the buttons at the top, it should be priority to select the presets first and foremost THE SECOND/ALT BUTTON SHOULD BE FLIP POPULATED WHEN ALTERNATIVE FUNCTIONS ARE AVAILABLE. * * *' The following text The following text IF THIS IS TO BE CHANGED, FIRMWARE UPDATE A IS NEEDED. I'd like to point out that IF THE SCREEN TIMEOUT IS SET, IT CAN NOT This is set to very short and the screen will automatically go dark unless you press another button.

Audiophiles may find this HD FM tuner very useful for listening to music
4/5

The pros It picked up FM stations I had no idea were in my reception area due to its sensitivity. With this unit, you can connect it by plugging it in s & p. Using my rooftop antenna, my A/V receiver and optical TOSLINK I connected the FM antenna to the FM dial and began tuning. In my listening area, all FM stations have at least one HD channel, and most have three or more HD channels. There is no doubt that HD stations have a higher audio quality than FM stations do. Despite HD stations' high quality audio, not all of them are outstanding. In other words, this is more of a problem with the compression rates and bitrates than with the Digital artifacts can be seen on a few stations Highs are tinny and the bass is weak. The HD channels of the same station sound fantastic while other HD channels sound good too. The fact that this unit has both analog and optical/RCA digital outputs makes it a versatile accessory for connecting your receiver to your A/V system. I'm talking about the cons here. There are many problems regarding the remote control, but the most significant is its poor performance. It is very difficult to operate the remote control in a reliable manner when the viewing angle is It is still not working. I ordered new batteries several times (just to be sure that the "new batteries" were not tired). My learning universal remote has been programmed with a few buttons from the Sangean remote, but it doesn't seem to be working. In this case, the radio has a very narrow IR sensor, which makes it impossible to scan the entire screen. The radio does not respond to the remote if you do not point it pretty much directly at the IR sensor. Second, I'd like to mention the following minor issue. When the power goes out, the radio loses its time setting even for a short period. It is a good thing that the programed stations are retained. Three issues to be addressed An FM listening area with a lot of metropolitan stations will need more than 10 buttons to get the stations they prefer. We have a brand new It is hard to get AM to perform well. Regardless of that, I live surrounded by power lines, and in my area it's pretty difficult to receive AM broadcasts without a ferrite rod An AM wire loop antenna supplied with the kit does a poor job of canceling As a whole This is a good HD FM receiver for audiophiles. Once you set up the radio stations, it is extremely easy to operate, and the audio quality is outstanding for HD radio.

It's all right in the end! Other than that, there does not seem to be a good HD component tuner
4/5

In terms of performance, it's pretty good. There have been other reviews that point out its sensitivity. There is a good antenna tower with amplifiers and good antennas on it. We are witnessing the stuff of miracles here In Philadelphia, I get WXPN, which is a college station (University of Pennsylvania). Wikipedia indicates a capacity of 2,650 watts (analog) and 105 watts (digital) for this station. The closest I can get to it is 60 miles away! I would say that was a good The sound quality is as good as HD FM can be expected to be. It's hard to watch HD FM without making compromises There is absolutely no issue with the sound that is the Sangeans fault. However, you need to learn a lot more bits of information. There is a lot it can do, but it simply involves touching one button and then another, or holding one button for a second to achieve something more complex. There is no button to press to go to a memorized station - it can't even be set up in this way- If you want to select one of the 10 preset channels, for example, you will have to press the "PRESET" button before you can use I'm thrilled with the way the channel scan is working. NOTHING is missing that would make it useful! The biggest complaint is that you have to turn it off when you do so, so it becomes one of your "vampire power" collections. Turning off the computer does not actually stop it It stays in what is called "standby" with the clock still running. My logic is almost in line with theirs, but I wanted an exceptional stereo component, not an alarm clock, to plug into my hi-fi A tech old school stereo with a separate preamplifier We offer 1000 watt rms power amps and amps of up to 20.
