Separate rtl- jack is also included. It is better to use SDR radios and upconverters. A good reception sensitivity is provided by this radio. There is some overtone activity through shortwave to about 15 mhz, and it drops off considerably after Several places in that entire bandwidth are taken up by a local AM station. Mine is off by 62 ppm, which will be corrected with software in SDRsharp or any other reception software you choose. So far, I've used the VHF bands from FM radio (88MHz) to the 430MHz band and sensitivity is acceptable. It's a good way to get started and is not too expensive for the features. I use a longwire antenna about 50 feet long. In addition to the VHF ground plane antenna, a home made shortwave antenna is also used.
