To use the unit for the first time, you must connect it to your home PC, upload it, and update it using the easy instructions about registering the device. Throughout my trucking career, I have hauled all hazmat across the country and have never been let down by this GPS. *DO NOT TRY TO UPDATE OR UPLOAD OR REGISTER FOR THIS APPLICATION FROM A TRUCK STOP WHILE USING WIRELESS INTERNET. I will. It will not let you down when you do it on your home computer*. It is a great GPS.
Since I was ten years old, I have been learning how to drive from my father who has been driving for 42 years. We asked him if he could help us get our heads around the roads. I was helped by him since he has driven all kinds of equipment, including military equipment. They then suggested you try one of these new trucker GPS devices. Upon being mentioned to him, he said Rand McNally would be his first choice. I laughed when the old man said that he thought it would have been great if they had these back then. Depending on my mood, I travel between 100 and 450 miles You can use this product to get to where you need to go, but you should still use common sense to do so. With this GPS, I use a combination of road maps (usually the Rand McNally truck atlas), knowledge of roads, signs that are all over the road for a reason, and Google Earth to get an overview of the area of my destination and directions. When I have used this GPS I have been able to reach my destinations or have helped me arrive at all my stops. In addition to NY, NJ, PA, DE, VA, OH and MD, I also handle other states. It has helped me get to a lot of my destinations that would seem out of place for a truck, but no matter where I have to go, the GPS has taken me there or helped me get there. A tractor or a truck running straight- Trailer combinations of 38 feet, 45 feet, 48 feet and 53 feet. Some destinations on big lots may not always lead you right to the front gate, so the GPS may not direct you there. The address is the whole piece of ground that your destination occupies. Nevertheless, as long as you use a little common sense, you will succeed. battery life needs some improvement, which is why we gave it 4 Starz. Apart from that, this is a great GPS for TRUCK DRIVERS, for whom such a device was designed.
My career was going well for two years, then it ended. My goal was to have this one shipped overnight, so I could have it by Monday. All I need to do is connect to Dock, download and update, just as I did the last time. After I put in my settings, I took it to my own vehicle to test it. There is nothing. All you see is a Rand McNally screen in black. My order has been returned, and I will order something else in its place. I really like this unit, so I regret to get another one, but I think getting another one will be the best thing for me.
The female end to charge this battery fell inside when it was only 5 months old. I bought a 3-year protection plan but was told that it was The report is not covered! I wouldn't recommend buying this unit or the insurance through BC it is a waste of time.
