Garmin dezl 780 LMT-S, GPS Truck Navigator, 7" Display

The unit arrived a couple of days ago and I've been trying to get familiar with it for the past couple of days. My current truck GPS relies on terrible routing algorithms, so I purchased this new one to replace that. First I read the manual, then I updated the system, then I updated the maps now I am just trying to learn things so that I can be able to drive it safely. While it runs Android OS, you are not able to accomplish many of the things you can do with a tablet, even though it is an android tablet its main app is Garmin GPS. It has been a few days since I sent Garmin any issues about these problems. Obviously, Garmin CS only works bankers hours, so these are the problems with this unit, and I will probably return it unless I can adjust some settings or do something else to resolve the issue. During this time I was stuck in one place for 20+ minutes at a time, this rendered the GPS useless, as it would neither show a route nor plan one. The Garmin CS software I had to use on my own as I couldn't find it anywhere. I tried switching it off and then on again, but it did not fix the problem. had to reset it, then I had to download the map and system updates, which took about * Not to mention doing all of this on the road without WiFi If you have wi-fi, you would consume a lot of data. As soon as I get a solution from Garmin, I'll update this review. It was never replied to by Garmin. Apparently, they didn't know how to answer. In spite of the fact that they intended the review to be not only accurate, but also designed that way. It is hard to imagine how an impartial person could give more than one star to this unit.

This is an area where Garmin needs to improve. There is a lot of software trouble with this GPS and it performs like a kid. As a heavy haul driver, I drive a lot of kilometers. The ability to add trailers, axles, weights, and dimensions on the vehicle profile has allowed me to stay away from weight restricted roads and bridges for the most part.

- No way to change axle spacing. A lack of ability to search for a specific exit - The difficulty of knowing where you'll be in 50 minutes consists of figuring out where you'll be. It sometimes seems as though Leap Frog and Garmin have teamed up on I-n- d The process of locating the correct address is a pain, no matter which way you go. When you type an address, it ALWAYS looks up the address in the surrounding states and not just the city and state you type. The company received multiple complaints about this and offered to replace the part for free. In spite of the fact that the phone app says the GPS is connected, it does not recognize it. Although the app's content is borderline junk, it's still worth downloading. As long as everything works according to plan, I am happy. This is costly, there is definitely a better option available, trucker GPS is critical for a driver, the current device works well but is seriously flawed and overpriced, if google had a trucker type online map, I would buy it without hesitation. In addition, it is a real shame that the suction mount on the GPS falls from the windshield to the dash to the floor when it loses suction. It is not possible to design it so that both the suction mount and the sticky mount come with it?.

This is an updated Rand McNally device that I bought to replace my previous Rand McNally device. My next trip was so well planned that I even paid a little extra just to have it on hand! The round trip from North Alabama to OKC took me two hours, and before I got back I prepared to return it. After I drove out of my driveway onto the county highway and saw a sign that said no trucks were permitted, I knew it was going to be a bad day. There were more problems with the mapping, and trying to find gas stops and parking was too time-consuming. Almost when it is too late to turn will it tell you when to make a turn and is it possible to customize It's a fuhgeddaboudit. Is it their desire that you see all the POI icons that you want to see, and delete the ones you do not want to see? Not at all.

Although I have a battery in this GPS, it turns itself off by itself. There are problems with the satellite, and it takes a long time to locate it.
