That is exactly what it is - a driving GPS. The graphics may not be the best, but the information about truck stops, scales, routes for trucks (and not for trucks), rest areas, and other stuff is enough to make up for it. This is, as far as I know, the best option out there. Though there are things to be improved, this GPS is quite good. It is imperative that as a driver you are aware of where you are going, as the GPS is only a tool when used without using common sense as a driver, bus drivers should implement this. I would like to emphasize the following Considering the price that you are paying, it is a good GPS. In San Francisco
Live traffic can be seen on the page. An annual fee of $19 is required for this service. The dock at Rand McNally is number 99. It is however only possible to view live traffic when the GPS is attached to a wi-fi network.
That's not really the case. It was in my trainer's truck that I used the 720. Large hands and fingers might find it challenging to tap on the screen of the 5 because of its size. However, quality wise it is almost
I suppose it could be, but if it begins with a 5 or 7 it probably isn't. A 720-inch screen is 7 inches in size, and a 5-inch screen is 5 inches

Despite the fact that I have never encountered any problems with delivery and the product did work, it was the most annoying GPS I have ever purchased! There are a number of little things that irritate me greatly about it. Exit names that are too long instead of just a short and concise name. The exit is not known by a name, but rather it is described as an endless chain of expressions that make up the exit until you finish it. The warning goes off every time you turn on the computer, even after you turn off the 34 hour/eight hour break feature. Besides that, there are other warnings that you cannot turn off, but it still tells you and keeps popping up until you hit 'Off'. It just so happens that I'm in the middle of traffic trying to make sure nothing stupid is happening in front of my truck, and then I can't see my directions because I told it not to display any important warning! My feet feel like they are going to step on baby chicks when I hear its voice. Additionally, finding one's naming for a given location can take a long time. I am irritated by a number of small things.
An RV owner purchased this for use in their vehicle. For years I've used a Garmin in my car. Therefore, I waited until I'd used this device for a few months before rating it. I don't want to lend it a lower rating just because of my familiarity One of my main complaints about the unit is that it was made for truckers, not RVers, despite the fact that it was There are a few convenience shopping stops and truck stops listed as POIs. Additionally, the display looks like it is from Windows 1 - there are a lot of pixels on each side and it is extremely busy - I found the graphics to be very poor. The display is barely visible even if I move the unit a bit from where it's placed - if only it was a tad bigger You can only see it if you are looking directly at The Garmin actually has a few features that are actually better than those of the App You will be able to see POIs along your actual route, rather than within a radius. The unit is very small for an RV, but it does what it needs to do. While in truck mode, the routes are not bad, but there have been times when it suggested detours of 50 or 100 miles and we didn't need such detours.
I don't know where to start. One thing I know for sure is that I am a Professional Driver and I use GPS devices almost 90% of the time. Let me get that straight right away. It appears that many people who use GPS devices tend to blame their device for every failed address attempt I was one of them. GPS satellites, as you know, perform the function of calculating their locations, and there are 24 of these satellites in use. It is primarily due to the State DOT company not forwarding the address information onto the mapping company that addresses are not working. My Garmin nuvi 465 was outdated after about 2 years and I wanted to upgrade to this GPS unit. Rand McNally was the very first company in America to make a trucker's GPS device. It's so much more capable than a Garmin or TomTom. Having used both, I know how much more you can do with it. Using The Extra POI Editor V5 to edit your GPX and Favorites file is needed for this device. Then, you can use the gps POI edited files. It is very easy to accomplish this with either 91 or your file manager. The best way to get the most out of your Manual is to read it.
Initially, I wasn't sure what this Rand McNally TND 520 GPS would do for me. Luckily, two of my friends have this model and they really like it, so I decided to give it a shot. As far as I know, everything is going well. It is a better idea to purchase refurbished items. You will save money and receive the same warranty as new items. It seems this way to me if you buy new, for example, you may get it and find it does not function properly, then you'll have to send it in for repair and you won't have it again until it returns. The term refurbish is used to mean that it has been repaired and retested before being sold. You would be doing yourself a favor if you bought reconditioned equipment. The new ones are better than the old ones. Making purchases through Amazon is such an easy process.
The McVista Company. The interface is poor, and it always sends me on the fastest route even though I set it to local. It is annoying to have this pop-up warning appear. The windows vista theme reminds me of it. In fact I bought the Garmin and returned it because it did not appear to allow 2D movement for me to see what's ahead, instead it would take me to another page to magnify and was not live. The Rand McNally allowed 2D navigation but was not more accurate. The Garmin had a 30% fee for returning it, so I tried to go back but just could not. As a result, I am currently using the 521 with my Samsung Galaxy Tab3 8" and the app co pilot RV version, which I appreciate. is available in truck and trailer versions that can adjust up to 13'. If I could have owned the Garmin without it's short comings I would have been happier than the 521 with its pop-ups.
This is a nice unit that has a lot Despite its software problems, it works well. In my opinion, it was released a few weeks earlier than it should have been. After running the diagnosis/repair tool a couple of times, I found 33 errors with the computer. The last couple times I ran it, it found just three. Since then, it has repaired them. In my role as a long haul truck driver, I use it pretty much every day. It takes time for it to "get going" when it has been sitting for a few hours or more. Nine times out of ten, it will start up, but none of the buttons Then you will have to reboot it to get it working again. I find that it works good once it gets going, except that I can't seem to figure out why it pops up every so often asking me to cancel the route/detour. In fact, I encountered it four times in the first 10 miles on my way out of Minneapolis As far as I can tell, garmins have fewer errors and just run smoother in my experience, but RM is much better at routing and mapping truck routes. However, I still prefer it to the Garmin. It is hoped that the errors on it can be fixed. After owning a TND 720 for an extended period of time, I found the 520 to be more stable but with a better designed interface and more attractive
UPDATE
Just a couple of software issues to be resolved! As a result of the issues I was having, I sent it back to Amazon and had a new one delivered. Their customer service is absolutely the best! While the old one had 33 errors right out of the box, the new one did not. A diagnostic/repair tool was run at the rand mcnally dock and there was no error. Besides being extremely stable and working perfectly, it is also very user-friendly. am in love with You need to make sure that you check the route before you take off. No gps is perfect. There are times when it may believe that trucks cannot be driven on certain streets and may take you all the way around the block five times when in fact trucks can drive there. Consult the atlas or google to make sure you have the correct information.
