Questions & Answers

What kind of screen does it have?

You can use your phone or tablet for that!

Would it be possible to just purchase the bolts and screws?

It's highly recommended that you practice opening the unit and removing or replacing the screen while you can buy some hardware to help with that process.

Are there any updates to be made? Do you think that I need to spend the extra money to make that happen since I just bought one?

There is a possibility of updating it, but their updates are out of date at my residence. The new Interstate is not on it, and the highway has been open for over two Despite the fact that I like the product, had I known it had such outdated updates I would not have bought it. With the purchase of the product, I'm eligible for free updates. There is a real need for Rand McNally to be

Can this model be connected to a virtual logbook?

The 510 does not have this feature, so I would not recommend it. This is a bad thing, trust me. It is worth it to spend the extra money on the 730 or 720. It was great when I had the 720. Now that I have the 730, it's been even better. It's available on the 730, but you'll have to purchase the logging computer in addition to However I would strongly advise you to stay away from the 510 unless you like the freezes all the time, with or without updates, and you are always going to get lost. It is also true to put you under 12ft bridges. I hope I was able to help Patrick

This is a POS and you shouldn't waste your money on it

Two days later, it was completely For example, turning off and then not turning it back on again! After charging it for 24 hours before first use, it's dead! I followed instructions and charged it for 24 hours before using it. We tried getting in touch with the seller, but all attempts failed! I'm on my way to the truck stop to get one. Money is not to be wasted! It would have been nice if I had taken note of.

It was tossed out the window before I decided to return it

Using a PCMiler gps since the first one came out has been a joy to me as a truck driver for 16 years. I had my PCMiler malfunction after being dropped, and I installed I have no doubt this gps offers a lot of bells and whistles, but in my humble opinion, it provides HORRIBLY bad routing information. GPS units are designed to provide information to locate objects on the Earth's surface. When purchasing the unit, I read the other reviews, but threw them off as I felt it would be better than anything else We have a reputation for being unskilled in terms of electronics. You might misjudge me by thinking that I might be unable to set up the unit properly because I worked at home providing technical support for an AT&T company for 14 months out of the last 3 years. Because I used to work for an internet service where I had to remotely access customers' computers to fix issues, I am technically skilled. In the months of Nov thru Feb, I spent almost 10 weeks driving all 48 continental states, five provinces in Canada and six trips running team to Anchorage, AK. As I have a good sense of direction and know most major routes throughout the country, I mostly used my gps to determine how far I still had to go and for guidance once I got off the big roads. Please be aware that I am not implying that I am a conceited kno The whole. The reason why I was angered with this unit is not that the operator made a mistake. The TND510 allows me to enter destinations using an address and I can use the nearest intersection to pinpoint the address so I can enter the pickup destination via my smart phone. I haul a lot of air cargo and I use Google Maps on my smart phone to find destinations. I spent much of my time waiting for the unit to recalculate a primary route, and with the unit taking so long to calculate, I had to modify the primary route many times. In my case, I frequently haul freight into and out of JFK airport, and for some reason this unit won't route across the George Washington bridge (yes, the settings are trip. (For example, it wanted to route me from New York to Cincinnati via I am joking! Actually, I am SERIOUSLY serious! The same occurred when I tried to route to a point directly across the bridge! The question becomes, how many drivers follow the routing on these units blindly? As I sit here reliving the nightmare, I am experiencing an elevation in my blood pressure. I could give other examples of my frustration with this unit. This review will be closed with the following statement. You shouldn't put your entire trust in it to get you where you want to go. You may want to contact your friends and coworkers You can ask your co-workers what GPS they use and the experience they have with it. Although I admired the design of the main screen and the information provided during my drive, I really do not need an info-tracking machine to keep track of fuel tax, truck maintenance, log book updates, etc. I just need something to get me to where I need to be. My decision to replace the PCMiler is due to my own carelessness, not to theirs, as I have had good experiences with the gps as a routing device and only need to replace it because I lost it. You should be able to make your decision with this information. Keep your eyes on the road!.

The maps are at least five years old, and to get updated for a lifetime, you will have to pay an extra.

There is no point in doing If you spend the money on a "BRAND NEW one," that would be the best choice

I found myself in the middle of nowhere because it was not updated when I was on the road. Well, I just got a brand.

A GPS unit is almost necessary for all truckers who do not run exclusively on dedicated routes. There are worse units out there, but this isn't one of them. A GPS is supposed to keep you on truck routes most of the time, and do everything you would reasonably expect of one. A ride on the tram will not bring you to a dock nor will it offer you route options. do its best to meet them. The speed limits are reasonable, though you have to pay attention sometimes as they seem to be off. (Toledo, for example, does not measure Plus )

90% of the time, my directions and routing match the directions and routing provided by the customer and dispatch. This app features * Mileage is very accurate * Points Of Interest are always up to date * Easy to use It is simple to set up and use, the buttons are big enough that it is easy to pick a rest stop or truckstop on the go. Having trouble routing in North Carolina was not a problem once I was in North Carolina. Positive * Plug and play* ** Some recalculations take a whiles* * Once in North Carolina I couldn't get a route to my he was overweight at 80K, but changed the setting to 40K and did not experience any Despite being overweight, the road is legal)
* There are some instances of freezing. I tend to reset my router after checking the routing each time.
* Double check the routing after resetting it. 90% of the time, the directions I receive don't match the results I receive. The times it is on track are more than making up for the times it is off track. It works well for me to get from Michigan to points east. It can take me to and from Jersey, NY, and surrounding areas as well. I usually arrived at the truck gate the other half of the time when delivering furniture to military installations. I was also able to find the right building 80% of the time. YES, this is a very good GPS device and is a great tool to help you. A road map will help you on your journey. This would be a great buy again if you need it, and I recommend it. It received a score of 4 out of 5. (5 stars would be ideal, however having to reset the unit would be a 2-star review A bug occurring three times a month is something that should be fixed.

This unit was extremely satisfactory to me and I am delighted to tell my mother about it

Thanks for reading! I recently purchased the used Rand Mcnally TND 510. As it stands, I didn't make any updates to the model, I just plugged it in and plugged it in benefit to the update, if I had purchased the download for $89 + tax, would have been the updated speed limits in Ohio and Illinois (the unit still thinks it is 65 km/h, however it is 70 km/h). Electing not to receive voice modulating speed notifications will cause me to be totally overlooked. Despite the price difference, I was extremely pleased with the unit, and proud to tell my business partner that it was only $69+ tax for me instead of $499 for him. It's the same thing as when I pay $90 plus tax!.

I don't really mind it though
3/5

There have been many problems with it thus far. Despite repeated attempts, the touch screen did not respond. The screen will automatically choose the options it wants without requiring any input from the user. Every time the customer service person suggests it, they suggest checking the hub and removing any bugs that may be present. I think it's the screen that's the problem because it doesn't work every time. In the middle of the trip, the directions are changed. While on the trip, the screen will no longer light up, but the directions can still be heard. As I'm currently doing cross-country trips, I can not get back anytime soon to send back for a new one. I think I should return it for a new one, but it's annoying when I can't return for a new one. So until then, let's get back to what I'm good at. Here are some words I came up with. As long as it works, I'm fine with it.
