Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this cable if the screen on my 2008 imac has stopped working?

The software will support booting in target mode if both Macs have the appropriate Firewire ports. mode of the disk br>Take a look at how the connector ports on both machines are shaped: The connectors on this cable are square. If one or both of your Macs have a connector port, you can use it to connect them together. a square on one side, a square on one side, a square on one You'll need a different cable if the edges are beveled on one side.

1ds camera from Canon. Do you know if this will work with a DSLR camera? I have an older camera that requires a firewire 9 pin to 6 pin connection on the laptop. ?

I have no idea. Mine is the one that connects the hard drive to the computer.

Is this the dc interface to IEEE1394 that I'm looking for?

I'm not sure what a "dc interface" is, but an IEEE1394 connector has six pins. A 9-pin IEEE1394b connector is used here.

It's a great way to make two old Macs last longer
5/5

As a collector of Apple Macs deemed "vintage" or "obsolete," I can attest to the fact that this low-cost cable has improved the maintenance process on both my PowerBook G4 and 27" iMac, which were the primary reasons for purchasing the cable. The second justification is that a used LaCie D2 Quadra enclosure with multiple ports, including FireWire 800 came to me only a few days after I had placed my cable order. br>br>The drive responded almost instantly after removing the cable from the package and plugging it into the aforementioned computers and hard drive. br>br>Copying 14 GB of data took between 5 and 10 minutes, compared to 15 minutes previously. FireWire 400 takes 20 minutes, while USB takes more than an hour. br>br>With the assistance of Target Disk Mode - which can be accessed by holding down the "T" key while turning on your Mac - Without having to open the PowerBook's cover and risk damaging anything, I can quickly and easily back up or transfer data. Overall, this is an excellent low-cost cable. I would strongly advise it to anyone who requires a FireWire 800 cable and does not already have one or requires a replacement.

It's perfect for an iPod Classic from the first generation! This cable was used to connect an iPod Classic from the first generation to a 2015 Macbook Air with Thunderbolt 2
5/5

I first tried connecting a Firewire 400 to 800 adapter to an Apple Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter, but it would only charge my iPod, not sync it. This cable worked flawlessly when connected to an Apple Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter. It's a thick cable with a good amount of tensile strength.

This adapter is ideal for connecting older hardware to a Mac Mini from late 2012
5/5

This was purchased to connect a Presonus SudioLive 16 that was the first generation. 2 to my Mac Mini from the end of 2012. This cable enabled individual tracking of all 16 channels, as well as bus mixes and other effects, and was an excellent way to complete my home studio. The construction appears to be sturdy and well-built to last for an installation that will not be moved frequently.

Great adapter wire; it's done the job I've asked of it! Great adapter wire; it's done the job I've asked of it! br>br>Good value for the money, made of a good quantity of materials, and solid connections
5/5

br>br>I have excellent video and audio connections. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars is because I'm an audio/video professional and there are much better cables available, but they're much more expensive!br>Thus, consider my 4/5 star rating a 5/5 for price! quality. What you pay for is exactly what you get. br>br>However. . . br>br>I would recommend this to anyone looking for a low-cost adapter cable. 😁.

An adequate "iLink" cable is required
5/5

This is what I used for my mini-project. An iLink cable was required to transfer video from my DVD recorder to my Mac. Although there were some issues with recording the media to my computer, this cable was ideal for the job. I'm not sure whether the problem is with the tapes, the player, or the cable. I'll look into it further, but for the time being, the cable will suffice.

It was a lifesaver right away
5/5

When I discovered that my upgraded Mac and venerable recording studio Interface used two different Firewire connectors, I attempted to install a second PCI board, but even MAC did not have drivers for that old design. This was a simple and inexpensive fix that resulted in a high-quality cable. It comes highly recommended!.

Recently, I've had a string of bad luck with cables
3/5

Recently, I've had a lot of bad luck buying electronics on Amazon - Simple things such as power adapters, data cables, and power cables aren't working. I'm starting to see how such basic products can get such low Amazon ratings. br>The only saving grace of this product was that it appeared to be well-made, but I can't comment on its performance because mine failed.

It does exactly what it claims
5/5

This cable didn't seem to exist any longer, did it? It's great that they're still producing it. It does exactly what it says it will and I have had no issues with it. Using an old Presonus FireWire audio interface to connect an early 2011 MacBook Pro.
