Questions & Answers
I believe the questioner is referring to the old standard Ethernet port, in which case the answer is no. Take a look at the image and see if your port (or computer specs) has a 1394 port.
It can be used if the interface on your device is compatible.

I assisted with the capture of DV tapes. This adapter worked perfectly for me when I needed to connect an older FireWire camera to a newer FireWire port. I can't speak to its long-term durability (I only used it once for one project), but it did the job. It is highly recommended.
The connectors are nice and snug, and the signals pass through without a hitch.
Since there are no direct Firewire 400 to Thunderbolt adapters, I used this cable to connect an older device to a thunderbolt adapter, and it works perfectly on a new Mac.
I used this cable to connect my DV camcorder to my MacBook Pro and it worked perfectly.
It does exactly what it says. I'm overjoyed to be able to mess around with an old iPod once more:.
With the newer MacPro, I can now use my older Apple cameras.
Now I can sync and charge my old firewire iPods, which is a huge plus.
