Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this to support a laptop that has been turned upside down? I'd rather not have a monitor attached to the wall. ?

I tried it, and I hope I understood it correctly. Does this mean that the tray holding the laptop should face the floor? However, I'm not sure what you mean by "not having to mount a monitor." br>br>I experimented with it on my Surface Book 2 (13. 3" tall, 1642 g I'm 62 pounds and 18 inches tall. Height: 32 mm). It functions satisfactorily and appears to keep it in place. Although I'm not sure I'd feel safe just hanging it there with the two plastic holders holding it up. Adding an extra strap to keep it in place would feel a lot safer. And for laptops larger than mine, the two plastic holders may not hold it as well as mine did, necessitating the use of an additional strap.

What is the height of the bottom nubs that prevent the laptop from slipping off? Is it possible to fold them down?

They're about an inch tall and can be folded, yes. I don't use mine for a laptop; instead, I use them to power a Pioneer CD player, and they work fine when folded.

Can the side clips be adjusted in height? They should be lower, in my opinion. ?

Yes, they can move them up and down on their own. The distance between the bottom knobs and the bottom of the side clip is approximately 8 cm at its bottom and 10 cm at its top when at the bottom.

What is the maximum angle at which the laptop can be opened with the LCD screen still visible vertically? 180?

I haven't tried 180 yet, but the base is well-secured and has feet to keep it in place, so I expect it to work.

Poor attachment points, flimsy side clips, and insufficient for 17"/heavy laptops
3/5

This was purchased to go with my Alienware 17 r4 laptop. Despite what the product listing on Amazon suggests, the tray is good for laptops up to 15. br>br>When I received the mount in the mail, the first thing that caught my eye was that the box claims that, contrary to what the product listing on Amazon implies, the tray is good for laptops up to 15. 6". This isn't encouraging. When I opened it, I discovered: br>br> * The sheet metal is very thin; br> It's only thick enough for three screw threads at most. The screw thread quality, I believe, suffered as a result of this. The screws were held in place by two of the screw holes, but the other two wobbled. Other reviewers have mentioned this (but I assumed they were just unlucky;) * The VESA attachment scheme doesn't feel very sturdy. I didn't realize the sheet metal was so thin)br> Instead of a full 75x75 square, the top four screws of a 100x100 pattern mount are used, resulting in a total of about 12 screws. A total of 5 square centimeters of metal come into contact with the mount. As a result, moving the monitor arm via the tray causes the tray to flex quite noticeably. This is on the page in the photos, but I had no idea how insecure it would make me feel. Worse yet, there's another way to mount the tray that requires only TWO screws. I'm not sure who would do this or why, but it seems like a good way to get your laptop's gravitational potential energy down quickly. br> * The tray's side clips are made of cheap plastic. These aren't the thick, strong-feeling plastics; instead, they're more like the super-thin, super-strong-feeling plastics. Black injection-molded plastic with a brittle feel to it. Furthermore, the 'rubber' gripper pads on the sides are not hinged or flexible. They're permanently molded in the manner depicted in the image. I wouldn't put anything heavier than a 15-inch MacBook Pro in these. br> * Even if everything else were fine, a large 17" laptop like the 17 r4 sticks way over the back of the tray, and unlike the AmazonBasics tray, there is no length extension mechanism. br>br>As a result, I returned it without using it and replaced it with (which appears to be secretly identical to the Ergotron 50-1). 193- Tray for 200 notebooks).

It gets the job done
5/5

This is actually more effective than I anticipated. I assumed the clamps would be spring-loaded, making it difficult to insert and remove the laptop. No, you simply adjust the width to your liking and snap them into place. It also glides in and out easily. br>br>I bought this with the intention of mounting my MacBook Pro 15" high, above my two external monitors, and almost vertically on the 39" Vivo pole. I was worried that this mount wouldn't hold, but it seems to work fine; I don't have it quite vertical, so the (somewhat flimsy) clamps aren't fully relied upon. The clamps are adequate for the job, but only just. br>br>However, the body of the device is quite sturdy, and it easily attaches to the pole's VESA mount. Overall, I think it went well.

I have a 1 inch thick laptop base with a slanted lip, so the overall product is great
4/5

I was worried that the 7/8-inch tall tabs on the bottom wouldn't be strong enough to keep the laptop secure. Fortunately, the mount comes with two attachment options: flat or tilted forward. I am confident that my laptop will stay in place when I use the flat configuration. My laptop is also quite heavy, weighing in at nearly 9 pounds, so the 4/5 star rating is due to the fact that the vesa plate attachment only uses the top four screw holes. I'm guessing these are the top two images from the 100x100 and 75x75 sizes. This does not appear to be as sturdy as I would like, but only time will tell. Another reviewer mentioned that the side arms are difficult to move, which I agree with, but it isn't a big deal, and it actually makes me feel safer. This product comes highly recommended from me.

Basic, long-lasting, and cost-effective
4/5

It's easy to set up, does exactly what I need it to, and it's a great deal. It's great that the display can be adjusted to two different angles. I really like how the clips that hold the laptop's sides in place are removable and adjustable. br>br>It would be nice if it had things like clips or bands for cable management if I were going to improve anything, but I'm sure I could rig that up myself.

Nice, but the side clamps only fit up to 14 inches
4/5

Laptops with a width of 5 inches are preferred over laptops with a width of 16 inches. However, my laptop, which is exactly 16 inches, does not fit in this mount. The side clamps do not fit laptops that are 5 inches wide (from left to right), which is a shame because one of the pictures in the publication says it fits laptops up to 16. It's 5 inches wide (I'd say it fits a 14). inch- maximum laptop width). Fortunately, the side clamps are optional, so I didn't use them and it worked fine; however, without the side clamps, I'd recommend making sure that the stand you attach the mount to won't slide down easily, as this will prevent the laptop from falling down.

Otherwise, it's a good tray, and at this price (around $20), I'd buy it again
4/5

The tray is exactly what it says it is, and VESA mounting is fine (unlike some other reviewers). For a couple of minor annoyances, I deducted one star: 1. br>br> On the tray, the MacBook Air 13" is a little shaky.
2. The bottom stops keep the laptop from sliding down, but they also allow the bottom of the laptop to move up and down as you type, adding to the wobble. br>br>Otherwise, a good tray; at this price (around $20), I'd buy it again.

No, it's just that it's not easily accessible
3/5

This is extremely well-made. The design is made of heavy metal. However, it is simply too large for today's thin laptops. It has an excessively large profile (as seen in the photo), and the clamps for removing the laptop are inadequate. It takes a long time to adjust them to close and use in clamshell mode. They're also made of plastic, which makes them feel flimsy. I purchased two of these, used one for a few weeks, and then exchanged it for a much better one.

Keeps your laptop safe
5/5

I had a spare monitor arm after purchasing a set of monitor arms. I was looking for the best price/safety combination, because I've seen other trays where the computer just sits there, with no safety, and they're twice the price; this tray, on the other hand, has it all. The computer is held in place on the tray by clips, and the bottom has breathable slats. There isn't much more one could ask for!.
