The clamp should be able to make full contact with the surface after about 3 inches.
Yes, I have a Dell laptop with a 15-inch screen that fits perfectly.
14" wide x 12" deep is the size of this piece. A 1/2" tall lip runs down the sides and back, as well as a 3/4" tall by 6-inch wide lip. When your laptop is sitting at an angle, a 1/4" wide lip sticks up in the front to keep it in place.
The tray measures 14" in width and 12" in depth. Because the back is open, you could probably squeeze a few more inches in for the docking station. The true test will be whether it can go low enough to be useful. On the lowest setting, it's about 2-inches tall. 3 inches above the surface of the desk

Producers are people who make things. STUDIO GEEKS are a group of people who enjoy working in a studio environment. THIS IS ESSENTIAL FOR YOU. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE. TRUST ME. I am not a professional reviewer who is paid to write reviews. I paid cash for it. So let's get that out of the way right away. So, what exactly is it? On Amazon, there are about 10,000 of these kinds of setups. br>Please allow me to save you from THE BS. I've personally gone through a lot of trouble to find THIS ONE, both in terms of time and money. br>As you can see, there is a clear SEE. This is capable of multitasking in a large number of ways. br>What is Arturia Keystep? Beatstep? What are synthesizer modules? A Laptop? What about a multi-effects unit for the guitar? br>THE ANSWER IS YES TO EVERYTHING. and MORE. br>This is one of those "best of" Amazon purchases for my studio that I've made. They're great for saving space. Every studio eventually reaches a point where vertical thinking is required. Take a look at this stand. br>It's made to look like a TANK! I went with the drill-through mounting method. And it's. Above and beyond "strength!" "br>In addition, the Clamp option was IMPRESSIVELY BUILT. And I have no doubt that everything will be fine. I drilled because I was able to. br>I'm going to buy a few more of these because once you have one, you won't be able to live without it. You'll be wishing for more. br>Studio nerds will be ecstatic. THIS IS THE DROID YOU ARE AFTER.
The arms and all of the accessories are excellent, but the cheap laptop stand attachment brings the whole thing to a halt. It's extremely thin and far too large for a typical laptop, so you're wasting space. The part that irritates me the most is that the small metal ridge that holds your laptop in place on the stand is devoid of any rubber or protection to prevent scratches on the edge of your laptop.
This is, without a doubt, the best-made product we've ever bought! My husband put it together quickly, and we clamped it to an old drop leaf table next to my piano keyboard, where my laptop is safely stored. I can easily maneuver this into the best position so that I can read sheet music and practice piano via YouTube, Piano Marvel, Sheet Music Direct, Muse score, and many other sites. I had no idea that such technology existed! This is also positioned so that I can rotate my arm 180 degrees while watching a DVD on my laptop! WARNING! THIS ITEM IS EXTREMELY HEAVY! DO NOT DROP IT AND ENSURE THAT IT IS FIRMLY ATTACHED TO A STABLE OBJECT. If it fell on your keyboard, it would cause significant damage, and if it fell on your foot, it would almost certainly break bones!.
I was blown away when I saw how heavy-duty it was after I took it out. The quality and construction of the stand/clasp is excellent. Bolts and metal are thick and heavy, but not too much for the desk. br>br>It has only one fatal flaw- how flimsy its vesa plate (the one that connects your monitor to your computer) is It's as if they spent a lot of time on the stand but not on how it connects to a monitor. I, on the other hand, use it for a specific purpose. I'm using it with a drawing tablet, which will obviously move a lot more than a regular monitor. The attachment is extremely simple; it simply slides into the stand's part and is secured with a single bolt (awful design). The bolt even has room inside the hole, which adds to the wobble. After securing my tablet to it, I noticed that it does not fit "snugly" and wobbles when I nudge/touch it. It's not a big wobble, but it's enough to make me worry that my 22" tablet will fall out. I'm lucky in that I'm using it at a low enough height that it can rely on the desk. The 90-degree tilt was the main reason I bought it; after installing it, the tablet could sit comfortably in front of me, almost as if I were drawing at a table. br>br>Perhaps they allowed it to wobble a little so you wouldn't break your monitor, but it makes me concerned about its sturdiness in more demanding situations. My tablet weighs about 15 pounds, according to the manufacturer. The stand is securely fastened in place, but the plate's design isn't particularly appealing. Other than that, they should have made it more durable. But I suppose it doesn't matter if you're just using it as a stationary monitor stand; I'm not sure how well it'd hold up with both the tablet and the heavy laptop holder it came with (which is quite heavy). br>br>One more thing about its sturdiness: it's probably due to the weight of my tablet, but if I raise the tablet higher, the arm begins to sag. br>br>Anyway, it works if you won't be putting a lot of weight on it and need a heavy-duty desk mount. If you want to use it as a drawing tablet stand, keep in mind that the plate is not particularly sturdy. Everything else is fine, and if anything goes wrong, you can always return it.
It was exactly what I needed! With a wide range of motion, this laptop arm is ideal. The screen is brought up to eye level, freeing up valuable desk space. Parts for attaching a monitor are included as well.
This was purchased for the edge of my desk so that I could comfortably reach my laptop without having to lean forward over my desktop's keyboard; it is sturdy even when the laptop (Alienware 17 R5) is placed on a 20" cooling pad. I'm also only using the clamp; I didn't bother to drill a hole for the other option. It has just the right amount of movement and comes with allen keys that attach to the pole for quick adjustments. I ended up cutting the pole down to make sure it didn't get in the way of my TV, and it still works perfectly.
