The wire is nine feet long. 5in.
11mm or 14/32nds.
You can use them, but you'll need a 9 V clip connector to do so. These cables are capable of handling the voltage and current that a 9V battery in a smoke detector can deliver.

The wire is not 18 AWG as stated in the description. I'm using 18 AWG wire to connect these, but this wire is a fraction of that size, I believe it's 22 gauge. I wouldn't use these for anything close to the 5 amps they're rated for in the description.
On a scale of 22 to 23, the core measures 22 to 23 Awg. 18 Awg is what it's said to be. Although the product appears to be of high quality, it is marketed incorrectly. I reached out to the seller as well, but received no response.
These were used to charge 12 volt batteries, and I wish I had purchased some from a different manufacturer. When you plug the male connector into the female connector, the exposed metal on the front ends of the connectors makes it easy to accidentally short out the inner and outer conductors. resulting in sparks and possible battery damage.
These turned out great, so I stripped them down and tinned them at the end. The wire gauge appears to be around 22 AWG, which is my only concern. It would have been preferable if they had gone with something like 18-points. 20 AWG. This is a pretty small wire to have at a junction point if you have a 50-foot or longer run of wire. As previously stated, these worked for me, but I wouldn't recommend using them on a PTZ camera with IR LEDs that could draw several amps. I'd gladly pay a few dollars more for wire with a thicker gauge.
Because the ones that came with the devices were too thin and frail, I needed to replace three barrel plugs on different projects. After breaking the cables a few times and having to repair them, I decided to replace them entirely. br>br>When I came across these, I had to have them. They were precisely what I had been searching for. It was simple to replace the cables, and they are now color-coded in the manner that I prefer. The molded cable and plugs are extremely well insulated and built to last. br>br>This is a complete set that is a great value for the money, as well as being of excellent quality for added peace of mind. They get 5 stars from me and I highly recommend them.
What you pay for is exactly what you get. Because my project must be disassembled and moved from place to place, I purchased these so that everything would be plug and play. After laying out my project and ensuring that everything worked as it should, I began soldering all of my wires to gather and applying heat shrink to all of my solder joints, and got everything ready for my first test when I plugged in my power supply, a 12 volt battery, but nothing worked! One of the plugs was getting hot when I checked it! It was replaced with a new one, and the result was the same. They all have enough internal power to ground shorts, as it turns out.
I was able to get every male connector on the inner conductor to fail after about 20 insertions (ohm meter shows open circuit). The voltage was never higher than 12 volts. 5a. This failure was not discovered until after all of the soldering and heat shrink had been completed. I tossed them and replaced them with more expensive RC battery connectors. br>br>An alarming rattling sound could also be heard in both the male and female connectors.
