Questions & Answers

It is shown to be made by Velo on the photos but in the description it is described as a Canon product. Would it really be a better deal to buy the Canon tripod ring instead?

In there is only one D Ring for the Canon Tripod Mount. Unlike Canon products, Velo is not a Canon product which is why it is so expensive. None of the Velo products fit like

Could you please clarify why it shows up in black, but the bullet in the description says, "Replacement" The white finish is the only option. Would it be okay if it wasn't white? Thank you. ?

The product I ordered has a black finish and I just received it.

What is the solution to this problem? Is quick release plate a necessity or would that be excess?

Canon doesn't have a dedicated quick release plate because every tripod system has its own features. It is a good idea to get an extra tripod quick release plate well suited for your tripod and attach it to this tripod mount ring. Every camera and long lens I own is fitted with a quick release plate that I have “permanently attached”, so I don’t have to worry about finding, moving, and fiddling with my plates every time I change lenses.

My Canon 100mm f/2 was purchased when I bought the lens. Two years ago, in addition to the Canon mmm 8 macro ll lens, I also purchased a inexpensive tripod mount ring from Amazon because I didn't think Canon's was worth the cost. During the first couple of years, I polished the inside of the ring to make it rotate more smoothly, and it worked well thereafter. However, this same lens broke the first time I held onto it when removing the lens from the camera. Although I still think Canon charges too much for their tripod mount rings, I bought an used one at a reasonable price. I really believe it is worth the extra money, especially considering that it supports $5K worth of gear and appeared brand new when I received it. Overall, the quality and smooth operation were far better compared to the copy I purchased for less money.

I am a little disgusted by the price, but in the end I am happy with the purchase

There is nothing better than this tripod mount. use it with a Canon 100mm f/2 lens. This is a Macro lenses with 8L IS. There was a lot of hesitation on my part before I bought Using a tripod, I took macro shots at the point of the head which caused the tripod to wobble to a great extent. After I shot that photo, it became apparent to me that I should get a tripod mount and see how well it works. Having a few weeks to think about it led to me being very happy. Although I still feel a little sick for spending over two hundred dollars on a tripod mount, it really helps me to compose the shots properly and switch from portrait to Since I got the lens for less than retail I justified its cost as being just one hundred dollars more than standard retail. I used this lens on a monopod, which helps me maintain stability at slower shutter speeds near 1 1. You can add 1 to this There's only so much image stability you can get when you're shooting with an aperture of f/8 and you're only one person. This is a great product for people who love taking photos - at only 5 feet from the subject. It's still a great deal of money, regardless of the price. It may be that Canon does not make much margin on their lenses, so they have to make a larger margin on their accessories to compensate.

I'm so glad I went with this one instead of As a consumer, I had to have this
5/5

My 100mm f2 original lens is in good condition. I had a Leica F8 macro (non L, non IS) and it was never comfortable to hang up the weight of that lens from the body. I like the fact that it can be mounted on my tripod, especially. In the process of purchasing the 100mm f2, I found it to be surprisingly sharp. I knew I wanted this collar when I saw it in 8L IS (a major improvement over the original BTW). Even though I was contemplating spending more money on the brand-x model, I decided instead to purchase a Canon. Although I was a little shocked by the price, I am very happy with my purchase. In addition to fitting and rotating perfectly, the mount is extremely rugged and well built. It is as solid as a rock mounted on the tripod. The most sensible choice if you're looking at it and waffling between it and the cheaper copy is to buy this one. Don't let this one pass you by.

This is an expensive product, but you cannot substitute it

My initial disappointment at not receiving a tripod collar after buying Canon's new 100mm L macro for $850 when it was first announced and released in 2009 was understandable. For a tripod collar, you'll have to spend 240 dollars! Thank you, but no thanks With that money in my pocket I will deal with the inconvenience of reorienting verticals on a tripod. It's unlikely people asking themselves *what* this is for or even if they need it have a valid reason for getting one. As long as you mount the Canon's new L macro to a tripod head, it doesn't have to be attached to a tripod collar because the balance is fine when mounted to my 5D. When this collar shines, it does so in the following ways 1) When you have to quickly change vertical orientations or horizontal orientations while macro focusing. This accessory can be used when changing between vertical and horizontal mode without requiring you to reset your tripod or head positions This was an exercise in frustration for our close-knit community A close-up or macro photograph. 2) Balance when using extension tubes or an extender My most frequent use of a 1 is when I'm typing. A 4x II extender with extension tubes can be used for greater working distances as well as Due to all the attachments that come with additional weight and length, the rig can become front heavy as a result of the weight and length of the lens. This problem is alleviated by the tripod collar, which moves the center of gravity so that it is closer to your camera body instead of as close as possible to it. 1) When shooting handheld, use the tripod collar as a mounting point for a second speedlite or flash bracket. This option offers me a variety of possibilities, and I really enjoy it. The tripod collar on any Canon super telephoto lens is just as sturdy as the construction of the top of the line Canon telephoto lenses. The tripod collar on my 70-200, however, is not as smooth as the one on my 70-200 I have a 200mm lens. A noticeable amount of friction can be felt during rotation for 8L II. I may have noticed this because there is a felt-like material on the collar instead of the velvet I usually use. As my other collars do not use felt, I question the durability of this material, and I would have preferred a smoother glide. Thus, I took a star off of this collar. A cheap chinese knock off I purchased on eBay seemed like a good idea at the time. I definitely got what I paid for and it was a horrible experience. Rather than re-entering the information a second time save yourself money, time, and trouble by not having to OEM is the way to go here.

A Choke Collar for the first time! In the age of heavy Canon lenses, neck collars aren't as stylish as they used to be, but they still serve a very useful purpose as fashion accessories
5/5

As a tripod, they have an important function, which is to hold a robust lens rather than relying on your camera body for support. As well as their practical application, I find them to be quite fashionable. I often hear people comment on the impressive setup I have when I am out in public. As I'm supposed to be taking pictures in the hope of capturing a picture that will go long in the record books. I mean, what's wrong with the occasional public acknowledgement?.
