This 8L macro lens is ideal for close up work. In the past few months, I have purchased a Canon EF 100mm f/2 lens. This 8L macro lens is ideal for close up work. This same lens was a Christmas present my wife received in 2009. Based on her experience, I knew if I wanted to shoot macro on a tripod, a lens collar is a necessity. At the time, I only had the Canon tripod ring to choose from. With a price near $200, that was quite a steep price to pay. It was nice to find a lens collar at a reasonable price, and with an Arca-style plug built in I didn't need any additional adapter plates since I have a Swiss foot. Despite its amazing macro lens capability, it works exceptionally well for me, allowing me to get very sharp photos. It's Bill again.
A tripod collar plate from Manfrotto was placed under the foot of the tripod and it worked perfectly. As far as the additional plate is concerned, I hoped not to need it. All in all, I'm not quite sure what is out of the ordinary. Neither this product nor the Manfrotto heads can be compared to them. You can watch the video accompaniment to see how it is done.
The construction is solid. There is very little friction between the ring and the knob, so it will not disengage unless the knob is pulled, making it a very safe device for your child. I really like the design - The two parts fit together like dovetails. The Canon foot is outrageously priced, so this is a great alternative!.
The mount I was using was better than the hair mount. As I rotated the assembly, it sounded like there were bad gears inside. There is much more smoothness to this Haoge. As well as the integrated ARCA plate, I am grateful for it. You'll have one less connection or adapter to deal.
The macro in question is 8. The ARCS Swiss mount is well made, fits well, is not subject to movement when tightened, matches the lens color finish, is inexpensive, and does as it says it will. Great value for the price, and not having to purchase an additional mounting plate for my existing tripod mount.
