Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
The MirrorTap is made of 24 gauge wire and has a black braided flexible sleeve with a 2 amp inline fuse. The total length of the cable, including taps, is 10". Without the taps, the cable assembly is 8 inches long.
Unlike any competitor's power cord, the new MTX Series MirrorTap comes with all four Tap-Size Pairs.
No more coiled cigarette lighter power cords; the MirrorTap Power Cord simply slides into the wire harness (exposed OR concealed) of your Auto Dimming Mirror. There will be no cutting or splicing of wires.
Escort, Beltronics, Valentine One, Radenso XP/SP, and Uniden DFR6/7,R1/R3, LRD950/850 are all compatible radar detectors with an RJ-11 jack.
Design Patented in the United States

Questions & Answers

Will this fit my 2015 Ford Mustang V6?

If you have one of those mirrors that dims automatically when someone is behind you at night, that means the mirror has power, which is all you need to connect this connection. It makes no difference what else is in the mirror (compass, house keys, etc.). link) as long as the mirror's plug can be plugged in. The cord has nothing to do with the engine type or size, and mine has been working flawlessly so far. I have the longer 20" version, which allows me to position my device that is powered by the cord more freely, and the instructions that come with the cord are also excellent.

Do you have the ground and power female conector taps in stock?

They come with the Mirror Tap, of course.

Hello, I'm just curious if this product is compatible with the 2014 Honda Accord. ?

Yes, as long as the auto dimming feature is enabled, it should work.

Do you have the same connector for a 16 pin, 3 pin, or 10 pin F/M to connect to a dash cam?

My dash cams, "VAVA, Viofo A119," are installed with supplied hardware, Viofo A119, and I use the supplied cigarette lighter plug to power both the front and back window cams. The duel port cigarette lighter plug that comes with VAVA also powers it.

Although it functions, it is easily broken and dismantled
3/5

It started working right away. To blow dry shrink wrap, I removed the leads from the mirror. It didn't work after I brought it back and installed the leads. Should also mention that the unit worked for a minute before all of the above (I got it to work by opening up the shrink wrap again), so I zip tied it, and it stopped working after that, and I had issues with it coming apart or breaking. I had to cut zip ties off as well, so I didn't have any left. The leads had come apart during the shrink wrap drying process, so they had to be cut off and reattached. Then, from the mirror end, the leads emerged. The leads kept breaking or becoming stuck in the cord part, and eventually the leads wouldn't go in the mirror or come out as easily as they had before, and one broke, and the lead eventually broke in the cord part, rendering it unusable. The cord itself had also frayed and unraveled to the point where it was no longer usable. Going back and forth with all of this took about an hour, and I was sweating in the garage (while doing all of this in an awkward position in my car). br>br>I ordered again because there was no other choice and I didn't want to pay the price, and it worked right away. When I tried to put it back in the mirror, however, it stopped working because the shrink wrap process had caused the leads to come apart again. So I ditched the shrink wrap in favor of electrical tape, garbage bag ties to hold it all together, and another layer of electrical tape, wrapping and testing it with each wrap. For the first time, the unit continued to work (unlike before with shrink wrap or before wrapping - Both caused the cord or the mirror to separate from the leads). The best method was to use electrical tape, which took about ten minutes to finish. When I thought the unit was securely wrapped in shrink wrap, I had to cut off the initial zip ties. So I went to Home Depot and bought some more, which worked perfectly. br>br>I found Brandon Chin's YouTube video on how to install this to be very helpful - The instructions in the package are not very clear. After installing the Blendmount, it's easier to work with and you'll know it's safe. To keep it from moving around in car washes, I zip tied it to the mirror stem. br>br>I should mention that I'm a woman with no mechanical skills, but I was able to install it without difficulty once I used the electrical tape.

Smart idea, mediocre execution, and high price for what it is
3/5

This item was given a one-star rating by me. Because the red (power) wire came loose from the inline fuse, it received a one-star rating for ease of installation. I figure it out after a 30-minute troubleshooting session. I had to cut the heat shrink and remove it before soldering the fuse to the wire. br>br>2- Value for money is given five stars. The connections aren't soldered, and the wires are about 26ga (very small), making this item, in my opinion, very fragile. The lack of soldering is difficult to forgive considering the item cost $45 for a 10" cable with maybe $3 of material; I was lucky I had a cheap soldering iron or I would have wasted a couple of hours and had to return it. br>br>If you order this, don't be concerned about it being too long. I didn't measure it, but I think calling it 10" is a stretch. Is it possible that it's a 10" Asian? In any case, I should've gone with the 15" model. br>br>I also ordered another model for a different vehicle install, which went off without a hitch, so perhaps this was an outlier rather than the rule.

Is very good at what it does! I had my doubts
5/5

I had already purchased the detector maker's hard-wire kit and planned to route all of the wires and connect them to the fuse panel under the dash. This would necessitate the employment of a double-jointed Munchkin with an electrical engineering degree. While looking for a mounting bracket, I came across this wiring kit and decided to buy it. For the materials included, I thought it was way too expensive. I reasoned that I already had a backup plan and could return it if it didn't work. I'm really happy I bought this power tap kit! Every component worked perfectly the first time, and the installation was very clean and completed in a matter of minutes! There will be no tying wires to the windshield, avoiding airbags in the pillar, or poking around under the dashboard with an electrical tester. This is the only way to power your radar detector if you have power feeding a "smart" mirror! I'm so glad I bought it! When I consider how much trouble it saved me, perhaps it isn't so overpriced!.

I chose this because I can't stand seeing wires, and it's very easy to install and allows for some very clean setups
4/5

My vehicle's center, in particular, was dangling. This kit includes a variety of connector sizes so you can find the right one for your needs. My only gripe is that once you've determined your correct size, you're left with about six additional sized connectors that you don't really need. So, if at all possible, speak with someone who has done it before in a vehicle similar to yours and knows the exact size you require so you can order just that size and save money. I had no idea what to use, so I had to get the varsity pack to see what fit best. When choosing your size, make sure the prongs fit snugly. Obviously, it should necessitate such a large amount of force that you can feel it bending or breaking them. However, if it slides in with little to no force, go up a size, as they may come loose. Using a multimeter to determine which wires in your car are ground and power is recommended for setup. I was able to do this without any prior knowledge of which colors typically represent which wire, and my detector was always receiving power even when the vehicle was turned off the first time I did it. Not good. So I rearranged a few things, and now my radar detector turns on and off in tandem with the vehicle. It's a little pricey for what it is, so I'd suggest figuring out which side connector you need and ordering that along with the cable separately. I'm very happy with my setup and would buy it again for another vehicle.
