Questions & Answers

Is this compatible with the Uniden R3?

Uniden R1 and R3 are not compatible with this product. This mount was purchased for DFR7 and it performs admirably. This is what I'm doing with my R1 right now. Because the mount point/slot on R1 and R3 is on the back plate of the radar, when you use R1 or R3 with this mount, it will sit a little further back than the DFR7, which has the mount point/slot on the top of the unit and a little closer to the center point. Your R3 and this mount will work together without affecting radar performance. BTW, this is an incredible radar that is well worth the money.

Is it legal in California to do something like this? Would I be issued a ticket because it obstructs the line of sight?

In California, what does not result in a ticket?

The escort mirror mount is one of my possessions. Will it be able to hold the Uniden r3?

The mounts are identical, but the Uniden will require a Clip. We charge $8 for each clip. Free shipping on orders of $99 or more. Regards

Uniden R3 is compatible
3/5

I bought this for a Uniden R3 and the bolts that came with it were cheap and too short. Clipping is an effective technique. The mount is where most of the action takes place. Except for the chinesium bolts, which are only a few millimeters long. br>br>The issue I was having with this mount. There are two custom made "wing studs" that clamp the center adjustable part, allowing you to adjust and tighten it into place. I'm not sure if mine was defective or if the person who made it was just cheap, but the bolt end is barely long enough to grab threads. Perhaps one of the threads has gotten a hold of you. It couldn't keep the detector in place because it couldn't get it tight enough. It always sagged, no matter what I did. The bolts and plate threads eventually wore out. I simply drilled out the plates to fit some bolts I had on hand and threw a nut on the other side, and it worked perfectly.

I didn't have any of the issues mentioned by other reviewers. This mount is made entirely of metal, not 'pot metal' or any other low-cost substitute. o An alloy of aluminum It looks like it's made of solid steel. The bolts are the same, with the exception of the two adjustment bolts, which have diamond-cut threads. It comes with two different lengths of screws for the mirror stem and has shaped plastic heads to make it easy to adjust by hand. br>br> My stem, which is a big fattie, fit perfectly with the shorter ones that were installed. The diameter is most likely an inch. The other two were slightly longer and came in the same bag as the rest of the hardware as well as an allen wrench. br>br>I'm sure the 'teeth' cut into the two halves of the stem clamp do a little 'cutting into' the mirror stem, but it won't slip. br>br>If you don't want your mirror stem to be marred by these teeth, you can always put some inner-teeth on it. Before clamping it on, wrap tube rubber or something similar around the stem. I'm not sure why anyone would be interested in this, but who knows? That's probably why the stem clamp has longer screws. br>br>Because my radar detector is a cheap Uniden DFR1, it's fairly light. The mounting hardware that goes into the radar detector is a perfect fit. It's a little snug, but I'd rather have it that way than having it rattle around. br>br>Oh, and it appears that you can probably just buy that clip piece and screw it into the same bracket if you get a different detector. br>br>Recently, my development installed speed bumps and speed tables, which cause the vehicle to shake a lot. Despite the hammering, the radar detector remains in place, and I haven't experienced any 'drooping' issues. Some said the screws didn't go very far into the clamp, and only one or two threads were on, causing it to strip out. I didn't have to sock it down that hard, and I didn't have to sock it down that hard. As you can see from the photos, I had no such issues. Both of my screws went all the way through the bracket and are flush with the sides. br>br>Overall, this mount has pleased me. It was more expensive than I believe it should have been, but there aren't many alternatives. One is a less expensive plastic one with significant drooping issues, and the other is a very nice metal one that costs three times as much. That one looks fantastic, and I'll be picking one up when I trade in my Kia Sorento for a Ferrari. br>br>I hope this information is useful to you in making your decision.

Junk
3/5

First and foremost, the installation was simple enough; the knobs felt snug, but after a few miles on the road, I found myself having to re-adjust my detector's position because it would simply start working its way down. When I got home, I tried tightening the adjustment screws with the Allen wrench, but the bottom one simply stripped out (the bolt threads). I removed the device and discarded it, opting instead to modify the large sticky cup mount from my old escort detector, which works a million times better. The parts on this thing are simply cheap, and the ball things prevent it from tightening down properly, which is a poor design.

Good quality product that will fit the Uniden R3 on the 2019 BMW 3 series (G20)
5/5

I drive a BMW 3 series from 2021 and have a Uniden R3 radio. I didn't want to use suction cups or sticky mounts because I had tinted my windshield. As a result, I was looking for a less expensive alternative to BlenderMounts(139). Because of the mixed reviews, I was pessimistic. It was a fantastic outcome. The item is made entirely of metal and includes all necessary tools. It's fairly simple to mount if you follow the instructions. I also used scotch tape to prevent metal from rubbing against metal, but other than that, it was a good fit, and I took it on a road trip for over 800 miles with no vibrations or rattles. This mount also has no effect on rear view mirror access or movement. br>br>I'll update after the summer to see if any of the parts deteriorate or if the mount comes loose. However, for the time being, this is a high-quality product at a reasonable price that serves a useful purposebr>br>FEEDBACK: I'd like to see some silicon or washers provided by the manufacturer for the part that touches the metal stem.

FINALLY - It's a product that simply works! A+
5/5

I bought two of them. One is for a Subaru Outback, while the other is for a Ford Transit. In both, I have Uniden R7 units and dash cams installed. Despite the fact that the cheap junky hardwire kits I ordered didn't work, this mount did! It's easy to set up, takes less than 5 minutes, and perfectly secures the R7 units. While there is "some" flex in the mount, it is a rock-solid foundation. In any case, there's a lot less movement than with suction cup mounts. Overall, one of the best buys you can make for the money. There are far more complex products available for four times the price (you know which one), and they aren't any better. br>br>The only stipulation is that your mirror must have a barrel between the mirror's ball joints and the windshield. If your mirror is mounted directly to the windshield and has only one ball joint, you should replace it. This device is most likely not going to work. Thankfully - The barrel and two ball joints are found on the majority of vehicles. Purchase with confidence, as this is an excellent product!.

Money swindle, I'm going to buy a new set
3/5

They should be ashamed of themselves for pulling such a stunt. The detector's holding bolts are weak, and they get stripped because they can't tighten them enough to keep the detector in place. I'm going to look for a better quality one somewhere else. The rest of the parts are fine, but when the bolt that holds my joint ball in place is weak, it seems pointless or like a money-making scheme where I'm sure they sell extras. I'm sure they do, and I'm sure they do it in large numbers.
