Questions & Answers

How well does Max2 filter out false K band alerts from modern car collision avoidance systems?

Every time I come here, I learn something new. Now I understand why there are so many false alarms in the K bands. My guess is that because the detector relies on GPS to determine where the K band is coming from, it won't work in the presence of moving vehicles. I simply remove the signals by hand. Aside from that minor flaw, this radar detector is excellent.

Is a windshield mount for the Max2 included?

Yes, but be aware that if you drive a shaky vehicle (for example, a 2014 Mustang GT without cats), the unit may split in half due to vibrations. I'm currently using packing tape to keep the two halves of the unit together, and it seems to be working just fine.

Is the escort 360 radar better than this one? I'm considering purchasing one of them, whichever is the better. ?

To be honest, there are two reasons why I chose the Passport MaxII HD over the 360. The first was a price difference of nearly $250. Second, before the 360 is worth more than the Redline, it needs to be immune to RDD; if you need the arrows, go with the 360. Because my Passport MaxII HD falses so infrequently, I simply check my speed when it does, and because the signal is so sensitive, I keep an eye on it for escalation.

Which is the superior option? I'm torn between getting the Escort 9500ix and getting the Passport Max 2. Which do you think is the best option?

The Escort 9500ix is an older, less capable version of the Escort ix; however, for all radar testing companies, the Max 2 is far superior to both. The Max 2 is currently $50 less expensive than the IX, which is surprising. However, radar detector prices fluctuate for a variety of reasons; the IX cost $348 a month ago and now costs $499.

Selected User Reviews For ESCORT MAX 3 Laser Radar Detector - Bluetooth Connectivity, Premium Range, Advanced Filtering, AutoLearn Technology, Voice Alerts, OLED Display, Escort Live App

Right out of the box, perfect performance! Over the years, I've owned far too many radar detectors (Fox, Fuzz Buster, BeL X3, Cobra, and Escort)
5/5

I've always run RD without filters because I'd rather deal with false alerts than no alerts, and I use my detectors to keep track of my surroundings. If I'm listening to music, it's a good reminder to check my speed before entering a school zone. With this explanation of why using a Radar Detector was ethical, I received three bonus points on a Business Ethics final. I'm getting off track here, but there are three identical residential streets with three different speed limits. In a three-mile stretch, the speed limit changed four times. You're in a hurry and lose track of where you're going, so you're driving 45 mph in Carmel, Indiana. Carmel will summon you to hand over your green in exchange for the paper you were given. Carmel has added three new speed traps to my commute to and from work in the last three months. They're all hidden until you're right on top of them. br>br>I've been running an Escort Smartradar Android with Escort Live (EL) for the past three years, and everything has been fine. Last year, I lost contact with EL via Bluetooth. No problem; I simply used EL to report police encounters manually. Then, last month, I discovered that the GPS sync was erratic, so I began looking for a replacement. During my research, I discovered that Escort had released an app for Android called EL Android 2. EL Android 2 was rushed with a score of 6 and rushed with a score of 6. This week, there were a total of seven releases. br>br>I made the decision that I wanted the Escort Max 360. However, because it is not RDD stealth, I have a hard time justifying spending nearly $700 on a radar detector that performs worse than the Escort RedLine. Are you listening, Cincinnati Microwave?
Just my luck Big Box BB decided to liquidate their Escort Max2 inventory with 30% mark down to $429 and Amazon price matched the mark down to $429% Even though I have a FICO of 830, BB doesn't like my credit ratio or something, so instead of a 12-month same-as-cash loan, I took a 6-month Amazon Store card with Prime delivery. br>br>All right, the Escort Max2 arrived in the mail on time yesterday, so I took it out and synced it with EL. I removed all of the filters and am left with only X, K, and Ka. Checked with a laser. I set out on a 25-mile round trip to visit a friend for dinner. As I leave the neighborhood, I'm greeted by a K band signal that continues to build for another 6 blocks before I pass the unmarked vehicle approaching me. On K band, I make my first save of over a mile, and then I pass the CVS. Even after numerous passes over the past three years, WG doors the Escort Smartradar Android with Escort Live (EL) still reported. After the airport, there is another CVS. Returning via a different route with one more K band false from the Escort Smartradar Android with Escort Live (EL) in the past. br>br>Here it is folks, the Escort Max2 had one legitimate K Band alert of over a mile and ZERO false alerts out of the box with all filters removed and I did nothing. I'm using it in the same way that I used the Escort Smartradar, which would have caught the K band alert as well as at least 8 false alerts during the 25-mile trip. br>br>My new Co-worker is Escort Max2. Pilot! br>Welcome to the party!br>br>Update: br>Transportation from Indianapolis to Louisville In 124 miles of I-95 travel, there were only two alerts for Your Speed Signs. The Escort Passport Max2 is worth the money just for the number of false alarms it eliminates, let alone the time and money it saves.

BUGGY APP with FALSE K ALERTS I'm very dissatisfied with this Escort detector; I sold my 8500 to get it, and it was a terrible decision
3/5

br>br>This detector has a nice appearance and is simple to hang. br>br>Con: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is not the place FALSE K ALERTS! br>FALSE K ALERTS! When I was driving on the highway, my K alert detector would go off every 2 minutes, but it would only go as high as 1-minute. It was just on long enough and then off again that if I muted it, it would ring again after 3 bars. It started to irritate me. I updated my PC's radar to the most recent version and tried every other "solution" I could find on the internet, but nothing worked. The only way to stop the false K alerts was to turn off K, which means I'm screwed if a cop is actually using K. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO MY 8500. There have been so many complaints about this that I'm not sure how they can keep selling this product. br>The next issue is that this radar gets its stats from a mobile app that is extremely buggy. You have to start the app every time you get in the car because it logged you off, and it always says "request timed out. " I'm pretty sure this is due to my house switching from 4G to wifi. When switching from 4G to wifi and vice versa, many apps work perfectly. As a result, I have to start the app every time I get into my car in order for it to send data to the radar. When it couldn't locate my radar, I had to unplug and re-plug it. Then there was a weekend when I couldn't log in at all. br>br>Overall, this ostensibly "technologically advanced" radar is incredibly buggy and out of date. I'm not sure how this product can be sold if it can't even be used.

It works, but it is dependent on how you drive
4/5

It works, but its overall value is determined by where you live and how you drive. br>br>The magnet suction cup works well to hold it to the window, but because the detector sides into a magnetic pin, it is held secure, but it wobbles constantly while driving. But for me, the inconvenience is outweighed by how quick and easy it is to put on and take off to hide or carry when I'm not in the best of spots. br>br>For example, I live in California, and cops rarely use radar on major highways because they prefer to pace, which provides no protection in this case. br>br>However, if I'm driving on a more isolated freeway, such as to Vegas, this will definitely help because cops tend to hide and run radar or laser. It detects the laser, but laser is instant, so by the time it alerts, it's basically telling you you're getting a ticket. br>br>For my daily use, I've found that it works well on city streets that are part of my normal commute because the auto false detector blocks out things like speed signs, malls, and grocery stores with automatic doors, which operate off radar. It's already saved me from hiding motorcycle cops on radar on a couple of occasions. br>br>The app is fine; I mostly use it to block my false alerts; however, I haven't gotten any useful information from the alerts from other drivers, so I won't be renewing my subscription after my free year is up.

Seriously, you've slashed your cable budget? I've only had this device for a month, and the stock charger has already failed
3/5

br>br>No update cable, poor audio quality, and lack of simple alert functionality in the app; I'm sure it's a great radar detector, but given the prices and functionality, or lack thereof, Waze appears to be a far superior ticket avoidance option. br>br>The radar detector appears to work properly, but I'm docking two stars because the peripheral came without the proper update cable. At $300, I expect your device to include everything I require in the case. I'm being cheated out of a tenth of a cent. It's complete nonsense to use a 50-year-old data cable. I will not replace this device with another escort product when it becomes obsolete.
