There appears to be corrosion primarily in the flex point of the original straps As far as durability and performance go, I hope these backstraps fare better than the original, substandard Chinese metal!.
As far as what they are designed for is concerned, they are quite effective. These brackets worked well for me though I had not found anything better, so these were used instead.
The ones I use most often are the ones I use to mount things around the house, but I frequently make brackets out of these as well. The material can be easily cut with snips, and it is sturdy enough to withstand repeated installations and removals. They are something I always have on hand, and I find new ways to use them all the time. It is recommended.
