Questions & Answers

The product's description claims it is for condenser microphones but there is a picture of a dynamic microphone?

In order for condenser microphones to function properly, phantom power must be supplied by Fethead Phantoms. Fetheads with a 48 V supply are not available in the other version of this product. If you are using a dynamic or ribbon mic, you should use that version. Although some microphones may work with either one, I am not inclined to Ensure that the Fethead you are using is rated for the type of microphone you are using, whether it is a condenser or dynamic mic. My own experience is that both of these mics are appropriate for their respective types. In terms of noise, they do a great job of adding gain with very little to no disturbance.

There seems to be a reason that this is increasing the noise floor and the mic input. Any ideas?

A quick look inside TRITON AUDIO FetHead Preamps for line microphones boost a microphone's output by more than 20 dB (when 48 V phantom power is With this adapter, ribbon microphones and other mics with low output levels are able to offer sufficient input to your mixer or external preamp so they don't need to run at an excessive level As a consequence, it is noisy. There are levels. I use a FlatHead device in line with a Shure SM7B microphone in one of my setups, and they are fed directly into a Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB Audio Interface with a built-in When I don't have the FetHead, I have to crank the audio interface's preamp input gain wide open if I wish to achieve the required The FetHead in line reduces noise generation almost to zero. With the preamp in line, only half gain is necessary, and most noise is not Likewise, I find it very difficult to control the volume when I use a ribbon mic. You should be able to solve your problem by reducing the preamp or mixer's mic input gain when using the FetHead (which should be thought of as an auxiliary preamp). Based on what you described, it sounds like your FetHead is working as intended.

Can you tell me about the input impedance range?

The FetHead of TRITON AUDIO has a nominal impedance of My RCA 44BX ribbon (clone) at 270 ohms and my Shure SM7B dynamic at 150 ohms are both connected. FetHeads have a high impedance, which causes them to be essentially transparent.

It's very expensive to get the K6, so can I use it instead for the Sennheiser?

This is currently being used with the Sennheiser E935 headphones. The program does an excellent job!

I've not been able to find a comparison between the Treflident Fethead and the sE Electronics DM1 Dynamite
5/5

At the time of writing, I was unable to locate a comparison of these two preamps. It was possible for me to do a side-by-side comparison of the Trident Fethead with the SE Electronics DM1 Dynamite.

TEST I am concerned. The acquisition of two SHURE SM58 dynamic microphones (both in pristine condition and purchased at the same time)*- The following Mogami Gold 2534 XLR cables are included in the package. Standard Triton Fethead - A dynamic dynamite from SE Electronics DM1 Dynamite-- Mixer for the Behringer XR18 - - The Ableton Live 64 bit DAW! You can record and playback with it - It had two mostly functional ear holes, and the mics were mounted side by side at matching inward angles on identical mic stands for desktop recording. It features up to 60 dB of gain and an excellent selection of features. As I wanted my peaks to be around -26dB, the mic with the Fethead was set to 26dB. Speaking at 9 dB is quite loud. In order for the mic with the DM1 Dynamite to match the output, the gain had to be set at The results were consistent regardless of the cables I tried or the port on the mixer I tried. With the additional gain, the noise floor rose a little, giving the Fethead a slight advantage here.

Additionally, size and weight are important characteristics to consider as well. There is a slight difference between the Fethead and the Fethead. There was a problem with the Dynamite sticking out farther on the back and interfering with the mic placement. I understand and use the Fethead much better than a mouse. It feels like both are well-built and well-balanced Both are well constructed, however the Dynamite would be a far more effective projectile.

Both have an insignificant amount of play where they attach to the mic, although the Dynamite felt a bit loose. There's an added concern with the Dynamite with its added weight and longer stick out from the body. However, we all know what to do about securing our cables. . . right? To me, the colors of the Fethead were more subtle because of the tonal contrast. I thought the Dynamite was a little punchier, but the Fethead was more crisp and clear. There was a bit of edge in the tone because of the DM1. You may get exceptional quality in some applications, but it might not be the best when you want to capture as much information as possible about the I think that this is more a question of taste and As a result of these factors, the Fethead seems to be the obvious choice when it comes to gear. It has a better overall sound and a more manageable size and has even improved my noise floor. A kit such as this is a great idea. I will purchase more Fetheads in the future. Unlike which would be the case with a $5,000 preamp, the 5 star rating is based on value for cost rather than comparisons with the $5,000 variant. *br*br *br *LLAP.

This is a smoother and more simple alternative to the Cloudlifter
5/5

I have a Cloudlifter that works well on my RE320, but after I added an SM7B, I was in need of another preamp I could use The solution to the problem. The FetHead is here! I think it's equal to the Cloudlifter, but cheaper, and I like the fact that there is no need for I. *br. *br. With the SM7B, I think the picture looks great!.

A very good signal - These are boosters that are used with There is a requirement for phantom power for them
5/5

In addition to Fetheads, I use a Zoom H6 recorder and a Shure SM58 microphone. With the H6, you have to crank the Zoom's input volume up to 7 or 8 if you want to get a usable signal. With Fetheads attached to the mics, the noise floor drops by around 20db and I can turn the input volume way down. That was bad. When the noise floor disappears, the room becomes quiet. Feetheads are not cheap, but they offer a much better value than their competitors and are MUCH easier to use compared to other brands. However, I have noticed that the microphones do wiggle a bit between the cable and the mics, and I would prefer if they were more firmly attached, but so far the wiggle does not appear to cause any problems We will see what happens in the future. As of now, I am very satisfied with the service.

In the past, Seller Photo offered a "Fethead Phantom" for condenser microphones, but Phantom Power ultimately killed it
3/5

A small edit I was contacted by the seller in response to my pointing out that the description stated "For Condenser Microphones," and he promised to correct that. refunded me the money as well when they told me the picture on the page did not correspond to the item being sold. I rated it three stars because of this. There are 3 stars due to the fact that the item did not work on either of my dynamic microphones. It seems like all of the reviews posted here are older reviews, showing dynamic microphones and they are from 6 months ago. The photo at purchase said "Fethead Phantom" for Condenser Microphones - this was not the Fethead Phantom, which was for dynamic microphones only, and did not work with any of my condenser microphones. As a result of my complaints, the seller changed the description, adding "condenser" as well, but still left the photo of the product with It can be hard to tell the difference between a condenser mic and a dynamic mic if you are not familiar with them both. The low power requirements of dynamic microphones result in their less sensitive performance. A condenser microphone is more sensitive and requires more power to operate, It is very possible that when you power a dynamic microphone with phantom power you will destroy your microphone, because that much power is not designed for a dynamic microphone. In general, if you try to power a condenser microphone without phantom power, it will not make any sound. Here are some examples of Dynamix microphones, Shure SM7B microphones, and ATR microphones Two-way radio, SM58, electro-mechanical There are a number of voice RE20s available. Here are some examples of condenser microphones, such as Blue Yeti, Rode NT1, Neuman N1a, Blue Snowball, etc. However, the picture that appears on the advertisement still describes this product as "Fethead Phantom," yet I received an item for dynamic microphones instead. As you can see in the picture, there is no word "Fethead Phantom" on the device, which led me to believe it was for dynamic microphones. Due to the fact that this is designed for Phantom Powered microphones, it did not work on my condenser microphones, and out of curiosity, I plugged it into a dynamic mic, with phantom power off, and it did not Quality control is clearly not a priority on this project. As I filed for a refund, I also pointed out the incorrect picture on the page, the various reviews that were for another product, and demonstrated that the one advertised was not the one that I received. The company wants me to return the item so they can check whether it actually doesn't work with dynamic microphones, instead of fixing their store page. There is an advertisement for condenser microphones, though.
