Questions & Answers

To use this, what kind of xlr cables should I get? My microphone is a Shure SM7B. a male to a female? What cable should I get to connect my cloudlifter to my Scarlett 18i8?

It will take two standard XLR mic cables. One connects the microphone to the cloud lifter, and the other connects the cloud lifter to the interface. The cloud lifter is intended to be placed between the microphone and the interface. It is powered by the interface's phantom power.

What is the number of inputs in this mic preamp?

It's a 2- the "pre-" channel It is not a replacement for a microphone preamp. It's used with two mic preamp channels that can provide phantom power to this "pre-amp." pre". It's made to add an extra 25 dB of gain, which is useful if your actual preamp only has moderate gain and you're using low-output ribbon or dynamic mics. It's not going to work with a phantom-like character. A powered condenser mic or an "active" ribbon mic that requires phantom power are both options.

Is it possible to use it on a guitar?

I suppose it could work, but I don't see why it would be beneficial; It's possible that it'll cause a bit of a jumble. br>It's made for people who are on a tight budget. dynamic microphones and ribbon microphones with a high output It accepts XLR input.br> The input is not a 1/4" jack. It does not have a variable gain.br> It has a mic impedence of only 3000 ohms. br>It's intended to boost the gain of existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre- amps that should have plenty of gain for a guitar Regardless of the foregoing, aren't standard instrument output levels around - 20 dBu? The Cloudlifter can lift you up to 20 to 25 feet in the air. db of gain, which is intended to bring microphones with a - 60 decibels (dB) up to - With a guitar already in your possession - A cloudlifter with a gain of 20 dB could push signal output above line level - I'm afraid there will be distortion as a result, and I wouldn't recommend the Cloudlifter for most condenser microphones because they already have a loud output. br>In the end, I'm not sure, but I believe the majority of people will say no.

I noticed it has two mic inputs; would this be useful for a two-person podcast using two SM7bs?

That would be an excellent application for it.

Before you buy this, you'll need a phantom power source! This was purchased to use with my RT 707 reel to reel player in order to record with microphones
5/5

I purchased this without realizing that I required Phantom Power (which I fortunately already had). Please note that this method does not work with condenser microphones. However, it is quite remarkable for what it is. br>br>For my dynamic mics, the RT 707 didn't have enough mic gain, so the CL2 comes in handy. It's very audible thanks to the 25db clean gain boost. If you don't need the gain boost, however, a mixer might be a better option.

) Cloud Lifters come in handy when you need to tie a ribbon around something
5/5

For only $250, you can upgrade your SF12 to an SF24 with this. )br>br>Cloud Lifters are especially useful in situations where you need to place a ribbon mic some distance from your preamp(s), and equally useful if the recording conditions require ribbon mics to be placed a little farther away from the musician(s) than you'd like, and even more so if the source is relatively quiet to begin with. br>br>Ribbon mics produce extremely low levels of output, even in many real-world situations. Situations in which you should record your life The Cloud Lifter series raises ribbon mic outputs to condenser mic levels while also lowering the line driver's impedance, making the signal more susceptible to noise pickup over long cable runs. Both aid in the reduction of unwanted noise. They may also help your signal chain's gain structure. br>br> When trying to get the last 10dB of gain out of some mic pres, they become noticeably noisier - You will, without a doubt, do so with a ribbon sooner or later. Splitting the gain between the mic pre and what is essentially a line driver can result in a significantly quieter path. Not always, but frequently enough to turn these valuable tools into valuable tools. br>br>Another thing to keep in mind: The CL2 is much larger and heavier than the image suggests. Because it lacks a strap or other intrinsic way to attach it to a mic stand, you'll want to put it on the floor or velcro it to the base of your mic stand instead of placing it as close to the mic as possible (where it belongs).

Cloudlifter was in charge of the vocals! When I bought this, I didn't know what I was getting myself into, but I knew I needed something to boost the signal from our microphones
5/5

On the PA, I had to turn the mics all the way up, which left us with no good mixing options and a poor sound. Fill in the blanks- Turned on phantom power for our microphones - and boom! We can actually hear ourselves and sound amazing out in the audience with only a slight increase in mic volume. It's well-made, does exactly what it claims, and has significantly improved our sound - This is the best piece of gear I've purchased in a long time!.

This is a studio tool that you absolutely must have
5/5

If you've ever used a ribbon mic on a quiet acoustic instrument like a violin or an acoustic guitar, you're well aware of how well the ribbon sound complements the tone. You're probably also aware of how difficult it is to achieve a good level when playing a quiet instrument with a ribbon. Even with a clean preamp, there comes a point where adding more gain adds too much signal noise; the Cloudlifter solves this problem by amplifying the mic's signal before it passes through the preamp. Not only will your clean preamp sound better, but you'll also be able to try out your noisier, more colorful preamps.

On dynamic mics, it really cuts through the noise 5/5
4/5

It's reassuring to learn that this product actually works. Although video noise is a serious issue, guess what? as it may appear! It makes a lot of noise that's difficult to get rid of. It kills all the sound gains in the amps, especially if it's software/edited! This device does everything for you! by removing the noise from your dynamic microphones I am very pleased with this brand and have given it a 4 out of 5 star rating, but the price is a little high? That's a one-star deduction! The quality, on the other hand, is outstanding. br> I'd buy another pair of 2s if they went on sale.

Magic
5/5

I use a rode procaster, which is very quiet to operate. We had to run these at nearly 100% speed in order to get a good volume out of them. My life is forever changed when the cloud booster appears. We do not run the mics at 20 and they are extremely hot in all the right ways. It has completely transformed our post-production and production processes. For mics such as the procaster, SM57b, or low gain mics, the cloud booster is a must-have. Amazing.

It performs admirably
5/5

This is almost too good. It performs admirably. This is almost too good. On my Steinberg UR22, I tested it at 96k on both my SM7B and my refurbished SM58. When this thing is in close proximity, it becomes quite loud. With the volume barely half-way up, I was on the verge of clipping. br>br>If you need a boost, this will do the trick; just make sure you have a decent compressor to go along with your signal chain. br>br>Before buying this product, I had to turn the volume all the way up to get decent signal on my SM7B, and even then, there was heavy room noise. br>br>If you need a boost, this will do the trick; just make sure you have a decent compressor to go along with br>br>Also, this product is made in the United States by members of the Navajo Indian Tribe in Arizona; I live in California, and I was blown away by how quickly it arrived; it was the fastest a product has ever arrived at my house. br>br>By purchasing this item, you will be helping to restore America's greatness.

Wow! I believe I've finally grasped the meaning of silence
5/5

I recently purchased a USB interface that has a very low power consumption. Even at maximum gain, noise preamps are a problem. I did, however, want more gain for the dynamic mics I already had. I bought the CL 2 after doing a lot of research online. br>br>Without a doubt, it provided me with the gain I required for the mics. But it was what I discovered after comparing level-to-level comparisons that took me by surprise. compared tracks that had and didn't have the CL 2. The CL 2 tracks had even less noise than the CL 1 tracks, in fact, any noise that I could barely hear on the CL 1 tracks (and barely see on a frequency analyzer) was not present on the CL 2 tracks. br>br>I believe I've finally grasped the meaning of silence!.
