No, it only functions as a replacement for an ide hard drive.
There are no jumpers or DIP switches for Master/Slave/CS, so I don't believe that's the case.
It is possible that you will need to partition/format the SD card to whatever your system supports, but it should still work. I've got these in a couple of systems (486 Dos and Win98) and they're great. For older machines, it is worthwhile to invest in a good "industrial" SD card.
There isn't a way around it. Some drives may auto-detect and become slave (on some drives, I believe this is a Drive Select jumper setting). Otherwise, master, in my opinion.

I have a server that will not boot from a USB drive, so my only options are IDE (PATA) or SATA. I need to keep the SATA for a specific reason, so IDE is the best option. Using USB adapters, SD images can now be easily burned. As a result, this device is fantastic.
It's a breeze to try out different operating systems.
In the normal SD slot on the PC, I flashed the SD card. In SF Rush, I moved to this card and got it to work on the first try.
I've used these before to replace hard drives in older computers and they work great. br>I'm running it on a 486dx2 DOS/Win 3 machine. For best results, use it with a good, high-quality SD card, especially if using it on older computers. br>Make sure to pair it with a good, high-quality SD card.
Excellent item.
