Questions & Answers

Has anyone had kernel panic while using this on their Macbook Air?

I have the black MacBook Air 2013/2017 as well as the MacBook Pro 15 2015 retina - no issues

I've heard that nvme drives and these adaptors for macbooks have a shorter battery life. Is it accurate to say so? Is there a way to solve this problem?

Some Macbooks from 2013 and 2014 have a problem with hibernation. Hibernation must be turned off. With that in mind, I recently upgraded a mid-range laptop's hard drive from SSD to NVME. The hibernation issue was not present on my 2014 Macbook Pro.

Would this work in a macbook air 2013 with a WD Blue SN550 500GB nvme internal ssd?

Both MBP and AIR should be able to use it.

Is this better than buying the same thing but with a longer "carrier" that supports nvme?

Yes, it is more convenient to use, and before you order, double-check the SSD and laptop models.

You'll forget your Mac isn't stock because it's so good
5/5

Normally, I have a cut-off price of $10. I'm taking a break to go over some things. But this little guy is so good that I figured it was worth jumping on here and giving it a review. Earlier this year, I purchased one of the "other" M. br>br> I purchased two adapters from Amazon and installed them in my 2013 i7 MacBook Air, along with a compatible SSD. Although the performance was excellent, my Mac had to deal with the wake-up call. from- Sleep issues have been reported by a large number of people, even after updating the Sleep settings in Terminal. br>br>Fast forward a few months, and here we have this little guy. I eventually sold my Air, partly because it was 7 years old and partly because my wife already had one (a 2015 i5) and we didn't need two computers. Hers, on the other hand, only had a 128GB SSD, which I knew I'd have to upgrade if we were going to use it together. So this time I decided to use the JESOT adapter to replace her Air's hard drive with a 1TB Western Digital Black SSD (the same one I used in my previous Mac). I expected some issues, such as having to make the same Terminal adjustments and still having to deal with bugs; after all, it's an adapter, so my Mac shouldn't work the same as OEM, right? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no I've put this Mac through its paces in a variety of wake-up scenarios, and it works flawlessly. from- Sleep scenarios that would have given my other Mac a heart attack- There are no problems with this one. Read/write speeds are still limited to around 1350MB/sec (which is still fast compared to SATA III), but that's due to the older PCI interface on this Mac, not the adapter. This is the most energized I've ever been. approximately a br>br>However, if you want to avoid the Apple/OWC storage surcharge by upgrading your compatible Mac's storage, go with this little guy and a compatible SSD. You won't be able to tell it's not original.

NEED TO RUN BOOTABLE USB HIGH SIERRA ON 2017 macbook air WITH WD BLACK SN750 INSTALLATION TO WORK ON A 2017 MACKBOOK AIR WITH A WD BLACK SN750, YOU MUST RUN BOOKABLE USB HIGH SIERRA AND FORMAT THE HDD
5/5

br>AFTER FORMATTING, ALL I DID WAS RUN A BOOKABLE MAC OS CATALINA TO COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION. br>br>I was about to return when I came across another posting. When this is shipped, this should be included in a paper because it may lead to many people returning the product because they believe it is defective. Thank you very much: br>br>.

It does exactly what it says

This worked perfectly with my "MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch)" as advertised. inch, Early 2015)"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>"br>I paired this adapter with a WD_BLACK 500GB SN750 (WDS500G3X0C The adapter SSD fit perfectly in my machine (no issues with tolerances or being too long for me with this combination, as others have reported), and I was able to secure it in place and screw it back down just like the original drive. br>Before installing the new drive, I created a bootable usb drive for Big Sur (search for HT201372 on the Apple support website for the appropriate command to run), then installed the adapter new ssd, then booted from the usb I created, then formatted the new drive using diskutility (default APFS format for Big Sur), and finally installed the OS. br>There are no kernel panics or sleep/hibernation issues, as reported by others. It's simple and effective. Write and read speeds are faster than the original drive (as measured by the app store's Blackmagic disk speed test). When compared to the price of an apple-branded equivalent, it was a relatively inexpensive upgrade.

In Mac Pro 2013, it works perfectly
5/5

When I replaced the 256GB SSD in my Mac Pro 2013 with a 2TB ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro NVMe SSD, it worked perfectly. This SSD and the adapter are a perfect match. Consistent results have been found in multiple speed tests. I've had it in for nearly 24 hours and it's still working. There are no issues with sleep, and everything is in order. I strongly advise upgrading to macOS Mojave now that NVMe SSD storage prices have dropped to make it more affordable.

It appears to be compatible with the 970 EVO Plus
5/5

I'm not sure if this is a supported combination, but it appears to be working well so far. br>Used in a Macbook Pro 13" from early 2015 with a Samsung 970 EVO Plus. Because the bus interface is the limiting factor in my application, you won't be able to get any faster drive speeds (or realize the full potential of this drive) than before. However, it appears that this adapter is up to the task.

For my 2017 Air, this is a fantastic adapter
5/5

Works great on my 2017 MacBook Air, and no, you don't need a boot drive because I was able to install High Sierra directly to the SSD via the internet. I have a Samsung 870 evo with a storage capacity of 1 terabyte. It works perfectly and there are no issues with sleep or hibernation, as some users have complained about. Simply remove the old crappy ssd and place the new ssd in this adapter before plugging it into the air's motherboard, then turn it on and it will reconnect to the internet. After that, depending on which SSD you buy, you'll have 5x or 10x the storage. I recommend the Samsung ssd because it is the same ssd that came with the 2017 MacBook Air, but with a smaller capacity.

It's possible that this will result in the failure of the motherboard! Beware! 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, 2015 Samsung EVO 970, which I purchased to install
3/5

Apple 256 GB SSD was replaced with a Samsung SSD and this adapter, and the MacBook is in excellent condition. - Within a week The MacBook is no longer functional. With a suspected motherboard failure, I'm currently at the Apple repair facility. They'll look into it to see if this adapter was the source of the problem, and I'll keep you updated. A $7 was used to take out a $1,000 computer (perfect). Adapter number 00 UPDATE: The motherboard failed one week after I connected this adapter to my Samsung EVO 970. The failure, according to Apple technicians, could have been caused by the adapter! ALSO, for some inexplicable reason, Amazon is refusing to post this review, which is extremely concerning!.
