Questions & Answers

Will this work with an Elna Embroidery machine that was designed to convert from RS232 to RS232 but no longer has a serial port because new computers don't have one?

Back in the day, I had an old police scanner that used an RS232 to RS232 connection. I should also mention that I purchased this scanner new, around 1998ish, and it was connected to my computer at the time. After upgrading my computer, I decided to give this cable (USB to RS-232) a shot. 232) to see if the scanner can be programmed with it. It went off without a hitch.

It mentions Windows 10 and higher, but not XP or 2000. Is it compatible with Windows 2000 or XP?

I've previously used PL2303 devices with both W2000 and XP, but drivers will be required. For the record, it runs smoothly on Ubuntu/Debian and Mac OS X. I'm confident you'll be able to find drivers on some technical websites - Sites that "focus on drivers" should be avoided. You could also look into FTDI devices, which are guaranteed to work with Legacy Windows. ftdichip. com. Digikey and Mouser both sell them. I needed a PL2303-specific PL2303-specific PL2303-specific PL2303- To avoid conflict with my Altera USB Blaster, which uses the same PID/VID as a stock FTDI chip, I decided to use an ARM-based device.

Has anyone used this with Windows 10 to connect to a GE relay?

It depends on your GE relay's pin outs; you can compare them to ours to see if they're the same; if they are, it should work. br>If you have any further issues, please contact us via email.

Is this a phony chip? It will not run on Windows 10
3/5

This adapter was purchased to allow me to record data from my car's wideband O2 sensor. I'm using Windows 10, and this is how my experience went. When I plugged in the adapter, it was not recognized by any of my devices. The driver was installed with the included CD. The device was recognized by Windows' device manager, but an error message was displayed, stating that the device could not be turned on. I tried restarting my computer, reinstalling the driver, and disabling and enabling the device, but nothing worked, so I let Windows look for a driver update online, which it did. Before reverting to its previous state, the adapter worked properly for about a minute. So I went online and did some research. It turns out that the majority of these adapters use a Prolific chip. However, most low-cost cables, including this one, use Chinese knockoff chips. Windows 10 is adept at spotting fakes and preventing them from running. I came across a website that claimed to be a work-at-home opportunity. around the use of a customized driver I removed the other two drivers before installing the custom driver. The adapter was still not working, and the error was still present. br>I've come to the conclusion that this must be a cheap counterfeit cable that won't work for my application, and I'm not sure if it would work on another Windows 10 machine (it might work on a Windows 8 or 7 machine, but I'm not sure). I simply returned the item and purchased a more expensive Plugable adapter, which I am hoping will perform significantly better.

It was a one-time job
5/5

I'm not sure if this is still operational. I was able to use it successfully once, but it wouldn't work on a different computer a few minutes later. So I went back to the first computer, which also didn't work. I updated the drivers, but the computer still won't connect to my RS232 device. br>I'm switching brands. br>It's too late to return or request a replacement. Correction! br>br>Correction! br>br>Correction! br>br>Corre When you properly connect the power to your device, it works perfectly! I was using a 12 volt power supply that wasn't plugged in to power my device. I had moved my device and had forgotten to plug it in. br>We're back to a perfect 5!.

If you have a serial modem but no serial ports, you're out of luck
5/5

What's keeping you from purchasing this? This is a fantastic adapter. My application consists of a Windows 10 host laptop running VMware Workstation and a Windows XP guest OS. I virtualized the XP machine because it had been running on real hardware that was failing. It had been a point-by-point discussion. Since the laptop doesn't have any serial ports, I had to come up with a solution. This guy was the answer. On the XP guest, I successfully installed the drivers (which were included with the adapter). This adapter was then used to connect the modem to the laptop. It was immediately recognized by the visitor. I created a test batch of credit cards using the point-to-point method. The batch was successfully processed by the modem and the sales system. Great value for money and (so far) a fantastic product.

Except in cool, well-ventilated areas, this is not a good idea
3/5

I work for Lumen as a Principal Network Architect, and I have a lot of different router/switch hardware at home because I'm constantly setting up PoCs to test network solutions for work. I bought a few of these feline companions. I have six cables for my house and PoCs. I used one of these cables from my Asus Wi-Fi router at home. My Tablo connects to my Fi 6 router, which streams over-the-air HD local channels to my Smart TVs. Yes, I refuse to pay $150 per month to cable companies when I can get almost all of the channels I need for free. From my Asus Wi-Fi router, I used a different cable. My Juniper SRX320 services gateway router is connected to my Wi-Fi router as a proof-of-concept. Another of these cables, this time from the SRX320 to my Juniper EX2300-based PoC. C switch with no fans. Finally, I connected one of my EX2300-based PoC Mist AP12 access points to the EX2300-based EX2300-based EX2300-based EX2300-based EX2300-based EX230

What I learned is that in cooler areas with abundant air flow the cables performed as expected about 85% of the time, only occasionally losing Any of the cables I'd connect from my home WAN gateway Asus Wi-Fi router to my large closet, which is room temperature with limited air flow, would be fine. My Tablo's Fi 6 router would fail after only one day of use. I tried switching to another of these cables each time the Tablo said it couldn't detect my local LAN it was connected to via the cat-5 cable after a day or so. 6 cable. After witnessing the same behavior in each of these felines, I just took one of my longer normal cat-6 cables out of my bag. I've been using these 5 cables for quite some time now. After upgrading to a higher-end cat-6 cable, My Tablo was able to see and stay connected to the local LAN indefinitely, as expected, thanks to the 5 cable. br>br>I then used one of these cat-like devices to move one of my PoC devices into the closet. It also lost LAN connectivity in less than 24 hours, proving unequivocally that these cables are defective and should not be used. I don't recommend them, and I'll stick to higher-quality options instead. end cat- Going forward, I'll use 5/6 cables; I'll just think of it as a lesson learned. It doesn't always pay off to be a frugal miser like me.

Using PuTTY, I was able to connect to Windows 10 x64
5/5

Installed on a 64-bit version of Windows 10. 316 - I was successful in communicating with my router's serial port. br>br>When I plugged it in, Windows didn't automatically install the driver, but when I opened Device Manager and selected "Update Driver" and let it search the internet, it was able to find and install it. I had COM3 and PuTTY could use it without rebooting. br>br>Creative+ paraphrase: I went out and bought a second one - It was excellent as well.

Without a doubt, this item saved my life
5/5

I work in the technology industry with a product called Southwest Microwave's Intrepid Perimeter Monitoring System; the system is their legacy Micro Point system (not II), and the modules communicate using RS-232. I thought I was ready to service this customer's site until I plugged in an older USB to RS-232 converter. I tried using a 232 adapter but couldn't find a COM port (? ) so I went into device manager only to find out that the driver for it is no longer supported by Microsoft! AAAAAGGG! Windows 10 is completely free! However, I remembered I had this one in my laptop bag that I had bought a month ago, so I plugged it in and WAMM- I was YNN in the same way that FLYNN was YNN. Thank you once more! Yes, for that service call, this saved the day.
