Yes, I was an idiot and bought a computer case without a DVD drive because I didn't think I needed one, but I also bought Windows on a DVD because I was an idiot. So I bought an external DVD drive, plugged it in, and booted from the external DVD drive in the boot menu, and it worked. My motherboard is an Asus, and I'm assuming most motherboards now have this option, but make sure it's USB 3.0. On the motherboard, there is a value of 0 (zero).
Yes, I used this with the install disc to put Windows 10 on a new hard drive.
Hello, due to the low power USB port on the Surface Pro 3 for external DVD drives, I recommend that you google some results. If your Surface Pro 3 is running Windows 10, you can try getting a USB 3.0 port. USB 3.0 Y Cable (search for USB 3.0 Y Cable on Google). Can you understand what I mean by a 0 Y cable (available on Amazon) to provide additional power? If not, please continue to ask me, and I will respond as soon as possible.
It's an external DVD-RW drive that works in the same way as an internal DVD-RW drive, so if a computer game can run on an internal DVD-RW drive, it'll work on this one as well.

The drive arrived, and while it works, it is a Region 2 drive, which is intended for use in Europe and other countries in that region. Because the United States is a region 1 country, video DVDs will not play properly. Whoever created and sells this drive should be aware that region-locked hardware should not be sold to a location that is not intended for it. br>br>The built-in cable for this is also extremely short, bordering on unusable, and appears to be prone to breaking where it connects to the drive; if it does, the drive will be rendered useless. This item does not have a cable that can be replaced. It should simply use a detachable cable, as this would give the end user far more flexibility and allow for the replacement of broken cables. EDIT: br>br> Within device manager, I was able to change the region lock from R2 to R1 by going into the device properties. It was then able to read video DVDs for the first time. The seller's suggestion of simply using VLC to make it work is ineffective. No media player was working because they either didn't work and didn't tell you why, or they didn't work and did tell you why and gave you an error about region incompatibility. Thankfully, you can change the hardware region, but you can only do so a few times, and the end user shouldn't have to figure out how to change the hardware settings in order for the product to work at all.
When I couldn't get it to work on my laptop, the tech support was extremely helpful. Even though it is evening here, they responded almost immediately (probably due to overseas support). The email address is @roofull if you need to contact them. com (double "l" because the product insert was missing one). They also suggested that I download some free media players for my laptop. I'm overjoyed that I've finally found a DVD drive for my laptop that works!.
Thank you for the "tips" on how to use my B01N8WV4EQ, Mr. Chi. Despite the fact that I've only had the device for a short time, I'm happy to report that setup was quick and painless. I've only used the drive a couple of times so far, but it's worked flawlessly. It's small and doesn't take up much desk space, which I like. It's connected to a brand new iMac desktop computer that I have. I'm sure your drive will get a lot of use over time as I burn music CDs for our family car and DVD movies to save family photos and videos. br>br>I am relieved and comforted to learn that you provide "after-sale customer service. " After-sale service, more than anything else, is what matters to me. Why? Because the majority of products are made at a low cost, with low-quality materials and "cheap" labor. As a result of faulty internal connections, cold joints, defective materials, and design, there is downtime. Any product that fails to provide reasonable service in relation to the product price tag and intended use NEVER receives our repeat business, and is subjected to a barrage of NEGATIVE advertising to everyone we know and do business with. br>br>With that in mind, we'll call it a day for now and hope you enjoy your optiarc product as much as we do.
It was delivered on time and in good condition. I installed everything according to the instructions. This was not a simple plug-and-play situation, as I had assumed. I was able to recognize it on my computer, but I was unable to play it. I had to download additional programs as recommended, but it still didn't work as expected. I was so disgusted that I put it in a box, but due to the amount of time I spent trying to get it to work, I missed the return deadline. I'll have to hire someone to see if they can fix it. If that fails, the item will be donated to Goodwill. br>Recent changes: After finally getting it to work, I gave it a four-star rating. There must be a program for on your computer. BUP is required in order to play DVDs, which my computer did not have. I finally downloaded a program that allowed me to play DVDs after a lot of frustration. Despite the fact that my return window had passed, the company offered to send me another. They were more than willing to work with me, but I wasted HOURS and HOURS trying to figure out why I couldn't play the DVDs, so I could only give them a four-star rating. It would have been beneficial if the company had included this information with the small amount of instructions that were provided. I was pleased with the customer service, and I am now able to watch DVDs.
It has a very appealing, contemporary appearance. If you plan on using it with a USB hub, make sure to get one that is powered, as it consumes a lot of power, as stated in the instructions. Anker makes one that I'm currently using and it's fantastic. The only flaw in the design is the small cable that comes with it. It is extremely brief and non-committal. It's removable, and it appears to be flimsy, as it causes my hard drive to disconnect frequently. Surprisingly, when plugged into my USB hub, it disconnects less frequently than when plugged into my laptop directly. For the price, I'd say it's a good buy; it'll suffice for occasional use.
This device was purchased to supplement a computer's CD/DVD drive. This device, in my opinion, is well worth the money and much easier to set up than those that must be installed within a computer. Overall, I'm happy with how it performed. Anyone considering purchasing this device should keep in mind that the speed with which it operates is determined by the type of USB port it is connected to on your computer. This device was created to work with a USB 3. 0 port. 0 port, which will provide you with the best possible results.
Five stars for customer service. Although I read that this drive should work with Windows 10, it did not work with my new Asus laptop. At first, I was irritated. Rooful customer service, thankfully, follows up on any problems you might have. I took advantage of this feature, and received a response with instructions on how to resolve my problem in less than 24 hours after submitting my request for assistance. It was a simple and straightforward process. Now it works perfectly, plug and play, exactly as it should. Rooful, thank you so much! Also, the silver appears to have come with my laptop; it is smooth and elegant.
