I use an HP laptop with Windows 10, but I don't see why it wouldn't work on any laptop.
Yes, I think so. It can read all types of DVDs. I've added the letter r.

It's as simple as plugging it in and getting started. Before purchasing this, I went through two "generic" external drives that were not the same brand as my computer. It's incredibly simple to use. Simply plug the USB into the computer and you're ready to go. I was able to burn an audio CD after uploading it. R works without a hitch, and there's no need for any extra software. If you own an HP computer, this is a must-have. It's a little more expensive than the "generic" versions, but it does the job!.
For those looking for a CD/DVD player with USB capability, this is a five-star device. I've watched two movies and listened to 10 to 12 music CDs on this little player, and it works perfectly. It's about the size of a CD, but not quite. It's also quite light, which I appreciate. Definitely a good investment!.
It was a reasonable price.
It works as it should; there are two models listed with the same model number, but they are not the same! One is faster and less expensive (this one); neither is particularly quick at writing, but both are adequate for the money. There are others, but this is the one to get if you want HP.
One. A fantastic piece of add-on equipment for extending the capabilities of an All-in-One. Only one computer was available. It's simple to set up and works perfectly!.
There were no problems installing or using it; I wish the price was a little lower, but when you buy original parts/software, you have to pay the price.
HP F2B56AA External Portable Slim Design CD/DVD RW Write/Read Drive, USB: To transfer some old but still useful software from CDs to my new disc-based computer I needed an external drive because I didn't have an HP Envy laptop, and this HP drive was twice the price of others and didn't have Blu Ray. But I went ahead and bought it anyway, assuming that a same-day delivery would be available. So far, there have been no issues with brand drive compatibility. It was immediately recognized by my laptop. The CDs were read and loaded in a quiet and efficient manner. without flaws It's all gravy if this external drive can do anything else.
