Questions & Answers

How do I know what kind of Wii drive I need?

As sellalltoall mentioned, you'll need to disassemble it, and you can look up your Wii model to see what drive it uses. However, this is for the White Wii's first release. Others, as seen in the first image on the product page, have different cables.

Is there a built-in ejector on this?

The eject motor is, in fact, a component of the disc drive.

Is this compatible with the white Wii Remote? 3350? Some people claim that the drives aren't interchangeable, while others claim that they are. ?

According to what I've read, they're all interchangeable. It is compatible with all models.

I was able to find a solution to my issue
5/5

When the Wii was first released, about 15 years ago, I purchased one. Let us fast forward to the present time. My wife and I have two children, one of whom is a six-year-old boy who enjoys playing Super Smash Brothers Brawl on the Switch of our neighbors. I dusted off my Wii and bought a copy on eBay because I didn't want to spend $300. It was impossible to read the disc. I bought a new copy because I thought the first one was damaged. Same. After some research, it was discovered that early versions of the Wii couldn't read double density DVDs like Smash Brothers and Metroid. I asked Nintendo for a fix via email, Twitter, and DMs. I then contacted their customer service department, who informed me that they used to repair these for free, but that they no longer do so, and that they have no plans to do so. After feeling defeated for several days, it occurred to me that replacing the hard drive might be the solution. It had an effect. My son is now enjoying Smash Brothers, though he still wishes for a switch (damn!). Installing it can be a little difficult, but if you follow the many YouTube videos, you should be fine.

The "Unable to read the disc" error is no longer an issue! I'm a hero, and I'm going to tell you about it
5/5

Our Wii had been broken for years, and I was able to fix it! We'd been missing Mario Cart for a long time, and this was the answer! It'll have teeny-tiny Phillips and triangular triangular triangular triang Screws with wings. I did, however, buy a triathlon triathlon triathlon triathlon triathlon triathlon tri wing screwdriver (in the shape of a Y) For Phillips screws, I also had a glasses screwdriver set. Follow along with a YouTube video (I watched Justin Peters' video; he shows how to take it apart but not how to reassemble it). To keep track of all the screws, I used a piece of paper cut out in the shape of a Wii as a template. Facetings, stickers, and rubber pads Phillips appeared to be hidden beneath the rubber pads and the tri-pod. Underneath the stickers were a pair of wings. If you get the message "Unable to read the disc," it means your computer is having problems reading the disc. If you need assistance troubleshooting, consult the Wii Operations Manual. " We attempted to clean the lens but were unsuccessful. Best of luck!.

"OEM" is a term that refers to a product that is "new
3/5

" The box says it's new, but when I open it up, the part is a little scuffed. However, if it works, I will not complain. Unfortunately, this is not the case. It will accept a disc and spool it, but it will not read, and the reader head will not move. I'd just finish the job that whoever started it on and refurb it from there, but that's not what I paid for. I've placed an order for a replacement, so we'll see how things go. If everything goes well, I'll update my rating. Just a heads up to those interested in purchasing: getting a working unit may be a crapshoot. QC does not appear to be on the list for these. To the vendor, I say: Because this is a disc drive with no other external protection, it's probably best to ship it in something other than a thin cardboard box and one layer of cheap bubble wrap.

This method is ineffective
4/5

Disks do not fully load and the computer hangs up. Disks do not spin or read if the guide arms are pushed to help it seat. I decided to give the dealer the benefit of the doubt and place an order for a new one. This POS should be avoided at all costs. Tested? I don't think so. When the new one arrives, I'll let you know. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> Today I received a replacement hard drive. The response time was quick, and the drive was smooth.

We were able to solve all of our problems
5/5

Easy to set up (if you've worked with electronics before) and fixed all of our Wii's problems - Disks are not being read, the computer is freezing, and there are random errors. Look for a video on the internet and watch it a few times. You'll be removing (and re-installing) a lot of screws. several of which are hidden beneath rubber feet and plastic tabs while inserting). A tri-pod is required. You'll also need a VERY SMALL philips screwdriver and a blade screw driver.

screwdriver with a blade (deserves an extra star) I appreciate the fact that this seller included a unique tri-blade screwdriver. That worked! All DVDs were no longer recognized by a friend's Wii console
5/5

We tried blowing air into the dvd drive to clear it of dust, but it didn't work. I ordered this replacement drive, figuring it had a 50/50 chance of working—couldn't the issue have been with the Wii itself? So far, it's been a success. For only $20, you can get your Wii back to full functionality. Yay. Tip: Before you disassemble your old drive, make sure you press eject to remove the disc from inside.

It's fantastic - If it weren't for the noise, I'd give it a five
3/5

The drive arrived today, and it took about half an hour to set up (thanks to YouTube). The drive works fine, but it is extremely noisy, and delivery was extremely fast. It's only a low-level hum, but it's audible. That is why the rating is three stars. It's loud enough for everyone in the room to hear it all of the time. br>If it wasn't so noisy, I'd give it five stars.
