Laptops with a built-in CD/DVD drive are becoming increasingly rare. There isn't really a need for one. When PC manufacturers stopped including floppy/diskette drives, for example. br>br>I needed one to install software on my new Alienware M15 (because I still have software on DVDs- LOL), This little guy has done an excellent job with the reloading. There have been occasions when- particularly on laptops with built-in hard drives- that the door will not stay shut when you push it in. To get it to click shut, you had to press it in several times. And it was a different story when I opened them- I recall repeatedly pressing buttons in an attempt to get it to pop out. This is a no-go. br>I'm not sure how fast it is, but it appears to be sufficient. The cable canal on the bottom (shown in photos) is a very nice (and neat) touch. It tucks away neatly and conveniently. They did not, however, end there. When the cable was out and being used, they made another small slot for it to be pressed into. This is very kind of you. It also has a power light and an indicator light that indicates when it is busy. br>It connected as the "D" drive with no problems at all. br>I haven't tried burning any discs (but I assume it works fine because everything else has). br>br>CON: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is not the place

This does not work on my new iMac from 2019. I didn't get a chance to try it out right away, and it's now too late for me to return it. ADVERTISING THAT IS NOT TRUE! BUYING THIS PRODUCT IS A MISTAKE! After seeing my review, the seller offered me a refund IF, and only IF, I removed my negative review and replaced it with a positive one. Really?.

This ultra-compact, ultra-portable CD/DVD drive is exactly what it says it is: a piece of cake to use. When you plug it in and insert a DVD, it asks for the region, and then you're ready to go. It's simple to use the menu for other CD/DVDs. I like the built-in cord and plug storage, and I have MACs and none of them have had any problems with it. It's a great value for the money, and I highly recommend it.

This DVD Optical Disc Drive was recently purchased so that I could play DVDs on my new Mac. It was advertised as a plug-and-play experience. set-up-and-play I found the instructions to be a little difficult to follow, and in the end, they were preventing me from completing the set-up. It was made to appear more difficult than it was. It was obvious that they were written by a non-native speaker. Person who is able to communicate in English fluently. Even though the instructions said I needed to get a different DVD and initialize the DVD SuperDrive before it would play a disc, I only needed to use the DVD Player Application that was already installed on my computer to get a DVD to play. So, once I figured that out, the new DVD Optical Disc Drive worked perfectly, but it took a long time for my admittedly tech-illiterate self to figure out how to use it. I pushed myself to figure it out.

What's nice about this drive is that it doesn't require any additional software to operate - it just works. The system is completely self-contained. My laptop recognized it right away, and the disks were read in a matter of seconds. The cord could be a little longer, but it's nice that it fits neatly in the bottom of the drive, so you won't have to store an extra cord or have it hanging off the drive if you carry it around. The USB C adapter is already attached to the USB connector, so there's no need to look for a loose little adapter in the box. This laptop accessory has been a huge hit with me.

Because I recently bought a refurbished 2018 MacBook Pro running Big Sur, I needed an external CD drive. Although this is an excellent laptop, it only has USB ports. C ports. It also has Big Sur (OS 11. 2) installed. 1), which has resulted in a number of software issues. I was worried that this tiny CD drive wouldn't work, but it does! Although the drive is small, it has proven to be effective with both music and software CDs. I've only used it for ROMs; I haven't tried it with DVDs. It was a plug-in device. There were no additional drivers needed, and it was plug-and-play. The drive also came with a USB to USB-C adapter, which was a pleasant surprise. You can use it with either type of plug thanks to the C adapter. This is a great value for a lightweight, low-cost drive in my opinion!.
