This is similar to what's happened to me with MicroCenter USB drives. It is a ruse to inflate the capacity. After a short period of use, the drive abruptly switches to its true capacity, which is significantly less than the claimed capacity, especially if the drive is reformatted; I've also experienced this with MicroCenter 64GB USB drives. They were actually 32GB drives masquerading as 64GB drives. Now I only buy well-known brands.

I strongly advise against using it in this manner, as the drive is a ruse with a 1 TB capacity. It only has 64GB or less, and you will lose data if you use it.

THIS IS NOT A GOOD ITEM TO BUY. I got the first one about a week ago, and it's fantastic. Transferring data from an older USB to this was painfully slow, and then there were a slew of issues accessing anything that had been transferred. The data on this drive was corrupted, even though it was fine on the original drive. I returned it to you. br>br>It was only last night that I received the second one. When I tried to transfer data again, I ran into the same issues. Couldn't transfer folders and files, good data became bad all of a sudden, and I couldn't delete what I'd transferred - junk. br>br>I'm pretty sure it didn't have two stars when I first bought it - I wouldn't waste my time with a two-star rating, so this is clearly a con, as far as I can tell. Others have speculated that the seller plagiarized a good review from somewhere else and pasted it here to make this appear popular. I'm not sure how that was done; I'd like to believe Amazon had better data security than that, but the proof is in the pudding, and what you get is clearly junk from what I can see. It was a bad investment. It's very nice looking. It's fantastic. You'll be happy to have it when it arrives. UNTIL . You're attempting to load information onto this flash drive. Data is lost every few days. On the stick, errors develop. The computer will scan for errors and correct them, but the data will need to be reloaded. THEN . This was a gift for my son, so I purchased it. Unfortunately, it took a few weeks for me to be able to give it to him after it arrived. It had been 32 days since he bought it when he tried to use it and realized it was defective. Returns are only accepted for 30 days after the purchase date. My son tried multiple times to format and use the drive, but it kept giving him errors and nothing would ever copy to it; it's just foggy, but now that I've read the other reviews, I see this is a common problem, and this product is garbage. Save yourself the time and money by looking for a different product; in the future, I'll always check reviews first.
When I ordered a new drive, it came used. The packaging was simple to open and close, and there were no product specifications printed on it. Other reviewers claim that the drive is only 64gb, despite the fact that it claims to be 1TB. I was adamant about not plugging it into any devices to check for malware. Other 1TB drives cost ten times as much, so if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.
Please be aware that this is a complete sham. All I needed was a simple storage device to move all of my image and video files to in order to free up space on my hard drive; it seemed simple enough, right? Guess once more. This not only copies files slowly, but it also loses the majority of them. It locks you out of your own folders, corrupts all of your files, and deletes everything as soon as there's a significant amount of data on it. All of the negative reviews' claims that this product has flaws are completely accurate. I'm kicking myself for not doing my homework before purchasing this. I lost a lot of digital art and media files because of this piece of garbage, which I will never be able to replace.
