Questions & Answers

Is this compatible with Intel's LGA 1151?

Yes, I have an 8th Generation CPU, and it worked flawlessly.

Has anyone tried this with a 5800x and if so, what temperatures did they get?

I HAVE MINE WITH THE WS Z390 PRO MOTHERBOARD AND THE i9 PROCESSOR, AND IT RUNS AS COOL AS A CUCUMBER AND AS QUIET AS A MOUSE FOR HALF THE PRICE OF THE COMPETITORS WITH DOUBLE THE WARRANTY, AND IT HAS WORKED FLAWLESSLY FOR OVER A YEAR. I DON'T KNOW HOW THAT COMPARES TO A 5800x, BUT I THINK IT'S VERY CLOSE. I DON'T GAME, BUT I DO USE MINE FOR HEAVY DUTY GRAPHICS. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Is there a fan mounting clip included in the package?

No, there are only clips for one fan in the single fan version. I bought the duo version, which came with two fans. On my Ryzen 2700, it's a very quiet cooler with great cooling.

It was a perfect fit in my bag! On a Ryzen 2600, I have it installed in a Thermaltake Versa H17 case
5/5

While running prime95 with the stock cooler, my temperatures soared to over 70 degrees Celsius. I can now overclock all four cores to 4 GHz using this method. I run prime95 at 0Ghz, and the temperature never rises above 64 degrees. It was simple to set up, taking me less than 5 minutes. My motherboard was still in the case, which I didn't remove. My computer is now almost completely silent all of the time. Definitely worth the money. This cooler is 157mm tall, according to the information I found online. The maximum CPU cooler height listed on my case, the Versa H17, is 155mm. Regardless, I took a chance and gave it a shot. It fits perfectly, and I had no trouble putting the side of the case back together after installing the cooler. Between the cooler and the case's side, there is still some space.

Not compatible with MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max Motherboard
3/5

I did some research before purchasing, especially on the Arctic Freezer 34 and Freezer 34 CO - Arctic Freezer 34 and Freezer 34 CO - Arctic Freezer 34 and Freezer 34 CO - Arctic Freezer 34 and Freezer 34 CO - Arctic Freezer 34 and Freezer 34 CO - Arctic Freezer 34 and Freezer 34 CO - To ensure compatibility, install on AMD AM4" and check the Arctic website. Then I tried to install it on a MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max AMD AM4 Motherboard, which Arctic recommends using the backplate that came with the motherboard (note the raised screw holes in the first picture). The Arctic then provides four standoffs (of various types - see below). I tried the ones for AMD and even the others when they didn't work) that screw into the holes in the backplate on the other side of the motherboard, two brackets that support the metal heatsink by going on top of the standoffs, and four thumbnuts that are supposed to secure the heatsink brackets. br>br>First and foremost, when the backplate is mounted on the back of the motherboard, the raised screw holes still protrude a significant amount on the mounting side of the motherboard; when the standoffs are screwed in, they do not compensate for the protruding screw holes - As a result of the remaining space between the bottom of the standoffs and the mounting side of the motherboard (hard to see, but space between motherboard mounting surface and bottom of standoff can be seen in second picture), the mount is loose. That means the mount is incompatible with this AM4 motherboard, and Arctic should have provided their own backplate to be flush with the mounting side of the motherboard, or washers to be placed between the motherboard and the standoff to prevent the mount from becoming loose. They didn't do it. Second, in order to see if anything could be solved by placing the heatsink on top of the standoffs, I discovered that the thread on the tops of the standoffs that go into the mounting bracket is insufficient to screw on the thumbnuts more than a small amount (third picture). Even if the standoff issues were not a problem, the mount would still be insecure. br>br>The bottom line is that this CPU cooler is incompatible with the MSI B450 Gaming Plus AMD4 Motherboard, and I will return it out of disgust for wasting my time due to Arctic's lack of attention to detail in designing a CPU cooler for this motherboard. While MSI does not make it easy with the poorly designed backplate, it is up to Arctic to design around it or inform the customer of any incompatibilities. As previously stated, all of these issues could have been easily solved by using a simple flat backplate bracket and longer threaded standoffs (on top of the standoffs). This is not uncommon in the case of CPU coolers. The majority of them are poorly designed for mounting and are made of low-quality materials. I'm curious if any of these companies have ever used their own products.

Great cooler terrible fan and customer service
3/5

First, the cooler is amazing but the fan that comes with it makes awful noise at anything above 80%. I filed an Arctic support ticket after hearing a loud whine and a vibration noise, and received a response in three days stating that the fan would be replaced. Okay, no problem, I replied with the information they requested. After ten days, they close the ticket without informing me whether or not the fan has been shipped or if it will be shipped. I then reopened the ticket, inquiring if what I had provided was adequate and if a new fan would be sent. It's been a week since they've contacted me, and I've received no response. I also have two Arctic 140mm fans, one of which has started making a horrible noise, and I will never buy anything from Arctic again because of their response time and issues. br>br>First edit: br>Because Arctic was taking so long, I ordered a replacement through Amazon, and it arrived on April 3, 2020. The second fan isn't as loud as the first, but it still makes a loud whining noise at certain rpms. Because the fan is so loud, I believe I will be returning this cooler. The cooler is fantastic in and of itself, but be wary of the included fans.

The aesthetics are pleasing, and the performance is commensurate
4/5

This cooler was purchased to replace the stock cooler on my Ryzen 5 2600, which was becoming a little noisy during extended gaming sessions. I looked into all of the popular coolers and ultimately chose this one because it complemented my build's black and white aesthetic. While I liked the way it looked, I didn't anticipate my temperatures dropping as much as they did. My temperatures dropped by 12 degrees while I was sitting idle. It's 14°C and stays that way while gaming, and the best part is that it's almost silent! My case fans will most likely be replaced with artic fans, which will match my cooler and look great. br>br>So, what's the big deal about the four stars? Well, I think the hardware packaging could be better. I received a bag containing adapter screws and standoffs, which appear to be very similar at first glance. It would be helpful if those standoffs were separated into small zip lock bags with the appropriate socket labeled on them. The majority of people do not consult the manual, and it would be unfortunate if someone installed the incorrect standoffs and subsequently damaged their system. Regardless, I highly recommend this cooler and will tell my friends about it. Now let's talk about overclocking. br>br>.
