Questions & Answers

Is there any pre-applied thermals on this?

No, but it does come with an nt-tube. You can apply the h1 thermal paste yourself.

Is there an am4 bracket included with this?

It also includes an AM4 mounting system. A backplate is also included in the system. br>It fits perfectly and is simple to install. Even when running at high speeds, the fan is extremely quiet.

Has anyone had any experience with an overclocked CPU and this fan? How far could you go in terms of overclocking?

My Ryzen 5 2600 is set to four cores. In a case with extremely limited airflow, 0ghz. In most cases, it's fine (40-45 minutes). 70°C), but synthetic loads will quickly raise the temperature to 100°C. After lowering the processor to 3, it's time to move on. It operates at a maximum temperature of 90 degrees Fahrenheit at 7 GHz.

Maintains the same speed as my 3400G Deskmini A300W
5/5

After a week of using the stock ASRock cooler on my Ryzen 3400G in an ASRock Deskmini A300W, I was sick of the loud fan noise and ordered one of these. The installation was simple enough, but a little fiddly because you have to install pieces on both sides of the motherboard at the same time, with the possibility of thermal compound sliding around. However, I was able to put it on with only a little slipping. br>br>During a CPU stress test, the package temperature hovers around 75 degrees Celsius. Other reviews had led me to believe that I should expect a temperature of around 60 degrees. However, 75°C appears to be a suitable temperature, as it runs between 55 and 60°C. In normal gaming, the temperature is 60 degrees Celsius, and the temperature is 35 degrees Celsius. When surfing the web and watching videos, the temperature should be around 45 degrees Celsius. I'll remove the cooler one day and reapply my thermal compound layer to see if it can run even cooler. br>br>I wouldn't call it "nearly silent," but it is noticeably quieter than the stock model. I can't hear it unless the room is nearly silent because it's just to my right on my desk. Any music, video game, talking, or the house's A/C running, and the cooler is barely audible with normal game audio, which is a big improvement over the stock cooler, which could drown out faint game sounds. br>br>I'd prefer stealthy black to the distinctive Noctua color, but that's just me. br>br>I had hoped for a little more cooling than I'm getting, but it's a good compromise cooler. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I've been running it for over a month and have had no issues with it getting too hot. The fan noise is never noticed. This is much quieter than my MacBook Pro.

This isn't going to work for me
3/5

Along with a Ryzen 5 2600 and an ASRock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-X, I purchased this. Over Black Friday, I purchased ITX/ac for a small home theater build in a Fractal Design Node 202. NH-Br>The NH-Br>The NH-Br>The NH-Br>The NH-Br Despite several heatsink remounts and making sure the area around the fan is free of wires, the L9a ended up being worse thermally (but quieter) than the Wraith Stealth cooler included with the 2600. br>br>I narrowed the cause to this motherboard's CPU socket orientation, which blocks half of the find, as well as a set of G. Due to the use of a Skill TridentZ in this build, airflow was compromised, and the 2600 had to be undervolted significantly to keep load temperatures below 90°C. br>br>The CPU dropped 10-fold after returning to the Wraith cooler. At stock settings, it's 15 degrees Celsius under load, and while it's a little louder, I think it's safer to keep it there for long periods of time.

For 3700x, it's almost good enough, but it's still a 5-star rating
5/5

stars. At the bottom of the page, you'll find a TLDR. br>br>I purchased this to replace my Scythe Big Shuriken 3 with a NF-X. Because of turbulence noise, I used an A12x15 in my Ghost S1 (no tophat) for my 3700x build (on a B450I Gaming Plus AC), and the cooling was excellent; most games didn't even reach 70 degrees with the default fan curve. br>br>Temperatures are around 15 degrees Celsius, which is what I expected. I wasn't disappointed when I saw temperatures of 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit, which was 20 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the previous cooling solution I used. Destiny 2 costs 80 cents. I honestly could have left it at that temperature because 80 degrees isn't a bad temperature for this cooler, or for CPUs in general. br>br>Because I had a few extra fans, I decided to use the NF- Because the stock 92mm fan doesn't cover the entire heatsink, I used an A12x15 (any fan would have worked) instead, and temperatures dropped to an average of 66°C. The extra fan couldn't be mounted because there weren't any available mounting points, so it's just held in place by the PSU cables. The extra fan, like the CPU fan, has the same fan curve.

- Scythe Big Shuriken 3 NF-A setup from the past. The dimensions of A12x15 are 15 x 12 x 15 x 15 x 15 20 degrees cooler than L9abr>- L9a + NF- A12x15 on top of a 92mm fan equals about 5-inch diameter. 8c worse.

Be wary of 95W CPUs
3/5

This is used to cool a Ryzen5 1600x processor in a Node202 case. I wasn't planning on overclocking because I know it's not recommended with this heatsink, but I ended up having to slightly *underclock* my processor to keep it from thermal throttling. It's a decent heatsink for 65W applications, but it'll struggle with even modest 95W processors. br>I also wished I could have rotated the heatsink so that the fins directed the hot air flow away from my ram. br>br>I am a big fan of Noctua products and will be upgrading to the NH-. After I take some clearance measurements in my case, I'll be able to make an L12S. br>————br>9/19 Update - Those interested in running the New Hampshire-based marathon L12S will not fit in a Node 202. Unless, like me, you've already ripped a hole in your case. Pros - Cons - Excellent cooling and direct external air ventilation. DIY isn't easy.

It's almost silent and ideal for a small space
5/5

Build an ITX HTPC with a Ryzen 3 processor. This fan is almost imperceptible in operation. Unless you put your ear against the case, my HTPC with a Ryzen 3 2200G is deafeningly quiet. This HTPC is 4 feet from my bed in my bedroom, and I sleep in complete silence, never being able to hear it, even when I tried. When idle, it maintains temperatures in the high 20s Celsius, and when watching movies on a 4K screen, it maintains temperatures in the low to mid 30s Celsius. I used the low-noise adapter that came with it, which reduced the rpms slightly but still provided excellent performance. On my build, there are no case fans or anything to keep my Ryzen happy, just this guy. Simply put, if you want a silent HTPC cooler, this, along with its low-noise adapter, is ideal and should fit into almost any HTPC case. My silverstone 6b mini-van has plenty of room for it. Installing the ITX case was simple and straightforward.

It performs admirably
5/5

All I'm cooling now is an athlon 200ge, which has a TDP of 35 watts but is overclocked to 4. It deff got a lot hotter real quick after 1HGZ stable. Previously, the stock cooler was extremely loud; now, it is eerily quiet, to the point where it is frightening. In my house, the temperature is usually between 44 and 46 degrees Fahrenheit. When gaming or doing something more intensive, the temperature should not exceed 50 degrees Celsius. Basically, it's a definite plus and a must-have for any SFF build. br>br>Based on its performance, I believe I could put a 65watt ryzen 5 or even a ryzen 7 with a tiny OC in it and still be fine. AKA perfect. Don't buy this and then OC the shit out of a ryzen 5 or 7 and then complain that it can't cool enough, or that it's too small to handle such OC. Yes, you can probably end up with a nice subtle powerful build using this bad boy if you do it just right. br>br>All I have to do now is wait for the Ryzen 3rd gen CPU to be released before upgrading.
