A half-covered Mount Baldy in Arizona, where these microspikes were used for an elevation training hike at the beginning of May, was half covered in snow when I used them. In my ignorance, I didn't put them on on the way up the mountain, so I was slipping and sliding, but when I put them on for the trip down, I was definitely more secure. The shoes I didn't put on earlier now make me regret it! With the snow that was hard packed, I had a much better grip. As soon as I figured out how to stretch them over my shoes, they were easy to put on. On a side note, these should not be mistaken for crampons, which have bigger spikes and are used for digging deep into deep snow.

When plowing or shoveling or going for a walk, I wear a Size Medium in my Sorel Trivoli women's boots in a size 10. It is the first time that I haven't slipped or fallen onto them even on slightly inclined surfaces in the two winters that I have used it. It is relatively easy to remove and put on. We just got back from Glacier National Park, and these were a lifesaver. I am handicapped and was able to cross snow trails despite being sure footed. Since they are the Mercedes of microspikes, people wanted to know what kind they were. The boots fit tightly in these, it was difficult to put and take off.
