Questions & Answers

My merrells are worn out from working 12 hours a day in an emergency room, and I'm looking for a good all-day shoe. Has anyone compared the two brands, keen vs. merrells?

Merrells are nice, but I've always preferred Keen. I haven't tried the Merrell clog, though. I work in a busy cafe and have been wearing my Keen clogs seven days a week for the past six weeks, and they still look and feel brand new. I strongly suggest it.

Is it appropriate to wear with slacks?

Dress pants, Chef pants, short pants, and jeans can all be worn with them. They're not something I'd wear with Man-made materials. Pristine, on the other hand.

Is your sole tigid or flexible?

I'd say the soles are a little stiff, but they feel great. They're the ideal work shoe for me, as I spend the majority of my day on my feet.

Is your sole tigid or flexible?

The sole is made of a hard, rigid rubber. Walking causes the sole to flex and bend. Shoes that are extremely comfortable.

This item is not slip-resistant
3/5

These are not slip-resistant in my opinion. They don't work if the floor is even a little damp. They last just as long as cheaper shoes for the same price. The shoes are large, clumsy, and uncomfortably large. I've had these for a few months, and as the threading on the bottom wears down, they become increasingly slick. I've had better shoes for a lot less money than the $100 I paid for these. br>br>I'd stay away from these because they're a recipe for disaster.

Only the shoe is covered by a one-year warranty, not the insoles
3/5

2 APRIL 2018 UPDATES - For the past month, I've been wearing these shoes with Keen's replacement insoles. Their K20 insoles serve as a stand-in. They don't feel the same as the originals that came with the shoes, in my opinion. These new insoles accomplish two things: The first thing I noticed was that the fit wasn't as good as it could have been. That is, I was aware of the support structure's undulations. It's not quite as comfortable as the originals, but it'll do. Second, the K20s are a little thicker, which makes the shoe a little tighter; yet another minor irritant Keen's K10 insole, I believe, would be a better fit, but I'm not sure. I'll keep you updated if I buy the K10s. 4MAR18 - 4MAR18 - 4MAR18 - 4MAR18 - 4MAR18 - 4MAR18 - 4MAR18 - The shoes are fantastic, but after less than three months, the insoles began to fall apart! The INSOLES, as well as the shoe, are not covered by the 1 year warranty, according to the folks at Keen. Keen, on the other hand, graciously made an exception and provided me with a replacement. This is fantastic, but these insoles should have lasted a lot longer. I have two pairs of Keen Howser-style shoes with their original insoles that I have. Each of these lasted about two years. And, unlike the insoles in my most recent pair of Keens, they did wear out (along with the rest of the shoe). These new insoles appear to be less durable, but they appear to be the same as the ones I had for a long time. br>br>The shoes are still my favorite. The only difference now is that they must pay more for maintenance.

Commercial kitchens are not safe, and the floor is not slip-resistant
3/5

These shoes aren't suitable for use in the kitchen. Before I bought a new pair, I had the same ones. Before they became slip resistant, the first pair required a "break in" period. My second pair has been in use for over a month, and I still have to catch myself from falling when there is any water on the floor. Not safe. I'm perplexed as to how the same product can be so dissimilar from one pair of shoes to the next. I won't be buying anything else.

1 year ago this month, August UPDATE FOR 2018! For service work, this is ideal
5/5

For service work, this is ideal. Shoes aren't always an option when I'm moving into new homes. After a week, these shoes are still in good shape. The shoes were perfect for me; they were a little tight at first, but they quickly broke in. When it comes to trying on shoes, I have a high arch and a wide foot, which can be a problem. These shoes are the cats' meow, and I'm glad I found them. Also, it is long-lasting. I used some Great Stuff spray foam on them, and it scratched right off without leaving any residue. The shoes don't have a lot of padding, but they're comfortable enough for my old bones to wear for a 16-hour work day. br>It's time to make a change! , and it's a good investment! I paid $91 for them last year and just paid $114 for new ones. br>After a year, I ordered another pair. These are the shoes I wear on a daily basis. I've climbed ladders and walked on roofs. Slipping is not a problem for me. The grip on this is fantastic. I've seen complaints about insoles that have peeled slightly but aren't a problem. Only the fabric liners are showing signs of wear, but I walk a lot and am used to it. They are both used and abused by me. Take a look at some of the images. I'll keep using my old ones for the really dirty jobs until they're completely worn out. br>I usually wear out cheap work shoes in 3 to 6 months. Those that are more expensive usually last a year to a year and a half. Only for the sake of appearance, I'm replacing my old ones.

So far, it's the best in the kitchen
4/5

In the 18 years I've worked on concrete and tile floors in kitchens and retail, I don't think I've ever found a shoe that is this comfortable for long periods of time on my feet. My body is all messed up as a result of it, and I'm going to see a podiatrist soon. Returning to work after a long period off due to the pandemic was a huge wake-up call for my feet. . . I was in excruciating pain every day and night once I was back on those hard, hard floors. Heel? The pain is stabbing. Midfoot? It appeared to be littered with shattered glass. Toes? Broken. My calves, ankles, knees, and back were all tingling with pain. My free time was spent stumbling around in a wheelchair. MISERY. br>br>No shoe can fully compensate for the effects of concrete and tile. br>No shoe can be expected to last more than a year if it is subjected to 30 hours or more of abuse per week. Even before the shoe fails on the outside, it will begin to hurt your feet. Given the size of a shoe compared to my entire 200-pound frame, it's only natural. br>br>However, I feel a lot better in these than I did in my old blundstones (and even better than I did when they were new). It was only a minor annoyance. I've reclaimed a significant portion of my life. Outside of work, I do a lot of things standing up. br>br>I tried Hokas before, but they hurt and I didn't like how my foot didn't bend. Shoes for crews. . . lol. Danskos and Birkenstock clogs—both HARD no. Mozos, both fell apart. br>br>These keens simply have a list of nice support, especially in the heel, but my foot is still able to bend. They don't feel like clogs in the sense that your foot has to work to keep them on; instead, they feel like a shoe. I didn't find them to be as tight across the top of my foot, which can be an issue, and I appreciate the toe room. There is no need for a break-in period with these, which is fantastic. I don't have time for suffering. br>br>I understand what others are saying about the slip resistance, but to be honest, I've never fully trusted a slip resistant shoe and always tread carefully. br>br>The right shoe has a sloppy assembly where the rubber toe and leather meet, but given how many returns end up in landfills, I decided to keep it. br>br>When these wear out, I'll buy them again.
