Questions & Answers

I'd like a better description of what "Smolder" smells like. ?

That is a very subjective question; I have both the soap and the aftershave, and I love the lather and the scent. My wife and daughter, as well as myself, are enamored with the fragrance. I believe you will enjoy it if you give it a shot.

Is there a badger hair brush included, as shown in the picture? The text is vague, and I've learned that if it doesn't say it, you won't get it. ?

I can't guarantee that it will come with a shaving brush, but when I purchased this soap, it did. Regardless, this is a fantastic soap:

What is the thickness of the lather? I'm currently using Taos Sandalwood Cream, and I really like how thick it is. what is the equivalent of?

Although the lather isn't particularly thick, it's extremely slick. Unlike other creams, I've never had a bad reaction to this one.

This product does not have a size or weight listed on Amazon, but I'm guessing it's around 5 oz. ?

It's also not listed on the tin, but I simply compared it to a 4. It's a perfect match for a 5 oz. puck of Stirling. I'm going to go with number four. 5 ozs.

It's not bad, but it's not as good as other products on the market
3/5

I like Blades Grim aftershave and wanted to try some of their other products; this isn't a bad product, but I won't be ordering it again. In the end, it isn't bad, but there are better soaps out there. br>br>Because the shaving soap smells so good, it's a great way to start the day. It foams up about as well as a shaving soap should. That is to say, it takes time, so plan accordingly before purchasing. br>br>The reason I won't be buying this product again is that it didn't provide me with as much lubrication as I'd like; it lathers well and goes on smoothly, but it doesn't hydrate or lubricate my skin, and shaving causes irritation. I've even preferred bar soap and water because it provided a layer of lubrication that this product lacked, and you must offer me something better as a shaving soap. After using this product for about two months, I've returned to my old shaving soap because it simply works better and is more convenient for me. br>br>Again, this isn't a bad product; it just didn't work for me, and if you have similar skin to mine and need some protection from your shaving soap, it might not work for you as well. In this price range, I believe there are better options available. I'll order other Blades Grim products in the future, but not their shaving soaps.

Review by a member of the United States Navy Get Some! Barbasol was my go-to shaving product for years as a Navy man because it worked well and was inexpensive
5/5

As I've gotten older, I've developed a taste for the finer things in life, one of which is The Blades Grim's Smolder shave soap. I was initially put off by the price, as I could get 7 cans of barbasol for $15, but after reading some reviews, I decided to give it a try. With this soap, I never felt the need for a fancy shave bowl; instead, I simply lather up some suds on my wet brush and get to work like the uncouth heathen I am. br>br>I will recommend this soap to anyone for two reasons: Despite shaving nearly every day, this soap has lasted me a year, which is quite remarkable for 4 ounces of anything, let alone something I use on a daily basis. What a fragrance! I don't know much about aromatherapy, and I don't stick to any particular deodorant (I usually go with the one I despise the most), but I do have one cologne and one shave soap that I use because they both have a scent that I like, that isn't too expensive, that is manly among my peers, and that is dark enough to be mysterious yet sweet enough to be enticing to women. Smells are difficult to quantify, so I'm not going to waste my time trying to explain what hundreds of others have already done. I look forward to shaving because of this soap; the scent lingers for a long time after you shave, both on your face and in the bathroom; and one can easily last you a year (if you don't feel the need to shave like a soapy Santa Claus every time); you could ask for more, but I expected less and have been pleasantly surprised. br>br> br> br> br> br> br> b This is not a paid endorsement; I paid full price for the product and will continue to do so until I die or the company goes out of business, whichever comes first.

Excellent Shaving Soap with a Wonderful Aroma
5/5

Recently, I've been on a major shave kick. In the last few years, I've bought a lot of shaving products, ranging from pre-made to custom-made. From shave oils to shaving creams to shaving soaps to aftershaves (and even colognes based on my favorite shaving cream scents! ), there's something for everyone. I came across this gem while looking through the Taylor of Old Bond Street catalog. After reading numerous reviews and descriptions of the fragrance, I decided to give it a shot. br>br>For starters, the scent is difficult to describe; I'm sure others have tried, but what I smelled couldn't be described in words. In any case, I'll do my best to assist a new buyer. It has a strong masculine scent to it. It's sweet, but with a smoky undertone that balances it out. I was genuinely concerned when people said "smoky. " I didn't want to smell like a campfire while walking around, but that isn't the case. The smoky element is not overpowering, but it is necessary. This product was purchased by a friend of mine, who noticed a hint of vanilla in it. This is, in my opinion, fairly accurate. Do not, however, be put off by the term "vanilla. " It had a slight vanilla sweetness to it, but as I mentioned, there's a subtle but distinct smoky scent that helps to balance out the sweetness and add a musky, manly odor. I have a variety of sandalwood products, and this one smelled deeper, sweeter, and more masculine. My wife is not a huge fan of sandalwood, but she enjoyed this scent. I agree with everyone else who says that this fragrance is unique. It's absolutely fantastic. To put it in perspective, I was so taken with Taylor of Old Bond Street's "Sandalwood" scent that I bought the Sandalwood pre-mix. Shaving oil, cream, aftershave, and cologne (for days when I don't shave). That decision is now making me regret it. I've found a new champion after using the "Smolder" fragrance. This fragrance is unlike anything I've ever smelled before. Smolder will appeal to anyone who enjoyed Sandalwood. That friend (the one who mentioned Vanilla) has a number of Bay Rum-scented items. He's beginning to value Smolder as much as, if not more than, his Bay Rum. Smolder was a pre-order item that I purchased. shave, and shave, and shave, and shave, and This is a scent that I can't get enough of. I wish this scent was available as an aftershave. br>br>Let's talk about the lather/soap now. One reviewer complained that the lather was too thin, causing his blade to skip. He was, however, not lathering properly, in my opinion. One reviewer uploaded a YouTube video, and you can clearly see how thick you can make your lather in it. He essentially made a paste, demonstrating the power of the lather that can be created. With this soap, I easily had one of the best lathers I've ever had. While I was showering, I put my brush in a hot shaving mug. I gave the brush two solid flicks when I got out to remove the majority of the water, but not all of it. I then worked up a good lather on the soap with the brush. I dumped out my mug and picked up my mug to continue working the brush around the inside of the mug once I felt I had a good lather going on my brush. Because there was still some water clinging to the mug, this thinned out the lather a little. After that, I slathered my face in moisturizer. I'll be honest, this produced the smoothest, nicest, thickest lather I've ever experienced. This was far superior to the Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving creams that I had previously used. I will say that this shaving soap has a smaller margin for error than shaving creams, but if done correctly, it produces a much better lather. There was not a single skip in my blade. My blade glided effortlessly across my face, effortlessly removing the hair. This was by far the best shaving and lather experience I've ever had. date. Other shaving creams I've tried produced either a very thin lather or nothing at all. The lathers produced were mediocre at best. This lather did not run, clung to my face, smelled incredible, and gave me a very close and comfortable shave. As I work through this The Blades Grim shaving soap, my Taylor of Old Bond Street collection may begin to collect dust in my cabinet. br>br>In conclusion, this product was well worth the money; it is inexpensive and provided me with one of the best shaving experiences I've ever had. The scent is both warm and masculine. You can make a thick, smooth lather with it. In the future, I plan to purchase more of this.
