Questions & Answers

Is this the type where you moisten the brush and dip it directly into the can, or do I take a small amount and hold it in my hand or bo?

The soap in the container is fairly solid, so I just dip the brush in. I get nearly a year's worth of shaving out of one container (if I shave every other day).

Is there any parabens, BHT, or propylene glycol in this soap?

I was out of town for two weeks, so I apologize for the delay. I looked over the ingredients and saw none of the ingredients you were concerned about, and I've gone through three jars of this product with nothing but positive results. You could also look into ARKO, which is a similar product made in Turkey. This item is handcrafted in Italy. I've tried both and found them to be excellent shaving soaps.

Is the bowl's lid screwed on so it's secure for travel, or does it just press on?

The lid is a snap-on style. It has a good grip on the body. The sum exceeds the limit of two. 5–3 ounces You won't be able to bring it as a carry-on unless you put it in checked baggage. If you do end up in your checked baggage, you should be fine, but I would recommend putting it in a plastic bag just to be safe. If you are flying on a private plane, I believe you will be fine because things aren't tossed around as much. I hope this has been of assistance. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do.

Williams, Proraso, Taylor sandalwood, and Mitchell were among the brands that I purchased
4/5

I gave them all four, but they all had different shaving styles. I bought Williams shaving soap, Taylor shaving soap, Mitchell Sheep Fat shaving soap, and Proaraso shaving soap in the green plastic container, and I gave them all a 4 out of 5. br>br>The Willaims was extremely inexpensive and performs admirably. It also cleans well. It's great if your skin isn't sensitive. My skin is sensitive, and the Taylor soap has a strong sandalwood scent. br>br> I'd buy it just to throw it in the bath and slop some water on it every now and then to keep the odor at bay. It's not as soft or smooth as the Mitchell or Proraso, but it's smoother than the Williams. , as well as the incredible aroma. It was filled with genuine items. It doesn't feel as good on my skin as Mitchell or Proraso soaps do. br>br>The Mitchell Wool Fat soap was the smoothest on my skin and softened my hair the most; it doesn't make as thick a lather as the others, but I didn't mind because I hit myself with the brush as needed. It left my skin feeling the most at ease after I used it, with visible signs of irritation and burning that I experience after shaving dissipating quickly. While shaving, I found the Proraso soap to be the least irritating, but I believe it contains something like mint oil to help deaden the skin. br>br>The Proraso soap was the most pleasant to use, probably because it contains a small amount of mint oil (which I can detect) and slightly deadens the skin. It shaved with less stinging and left my skin almost as unaffected as the Mitchell. The Proraso is less expensive, but it is less dense, and more of it appears to be used up when shaving, so I expect it to end up costing the same as the Taylor and Mitchell. br>br>I seem to use the Mitchell the most because it has a gentle shave, but if my face is already burning, I switch to the Proraso because the mint soothes everything. The Taylor soap has a wonderful scent, and I prefer to use it when my face isn't burned. I'm using the Willliams soap as a bath soap, oddly enough. It cleans better and costs about the same as the store-bought bath soap, and I would use it if my skin wasn't sensitive. It's a lot less expensive, and I've been using it as shaving soap for years.

Worth it
5/5

All I can say is that it's well worth the money; it's the best I've found (and I've tried four others, including one from WalMart). As much as I dislike admitting it (what with me being a senior on a fixed income), the quality of the facial lubrication and shave it provides is well worth the few extra dollars. In fact, given how well this lathers with just three swipes of a badger's brush, it may not cost much more per shave. Proraso does have a menthol scent that you have to like, or get used to, or both, but it's very tolerable and doesn't seem to bother people who are sensitive to perfumes. (We square dance, and you can't have strong scents in a room full of sweaty old people on a hot summer night without someone getting "the vapors"). So, if you're able to make do with the less expensive items, kudos. You can rely on this Proraso if everything else fails.

On the top, there was mold/fungus
3/5

The one star isn't for the product itself because I've ordered it before; it's for the quality because when I opened it, there was some sort of mold/fungus on top. I'm not sure if this was not sealed properly or if it's super old because it had some sort of mold/fungus on top. The best word to describe my reaction to the state in which I received this product is disgusted, and it will be thrown away. There is a clear need for better quality control.

One job
5/5

It was designed to do one thing: provide a luxurious shave without bleeding, and it succeeds admirably. I was switching between Mach 3 and Merkur 34c on a regular basis. The Merkur is gentle and suitable for beginners, but it does not stand up to my steel curly whiskers. Mach 3 outperformed the competition. I have a 35-year-old Walgreens butterfly razor that draws a lot of blood in one pass, is painful and irritated, and I'm surprised it has tracked me down. Proraso vs hatchet, 3 passes (against the grain as well) BEST shave I've ever had! I ordered a Roclwell 6c razor because I'm running out of hatchet with all of this opulence. By the way, I prefer to take my Proraso boars head brush out of the container and whip it up in a bowl. For this African American man, baby butt skin means no ingrowns. Love it.

Wooow
5/5

Who'd have guessed it was so different? Head shaving has progressed to the next level. It's a huge step forward from the tube proraso. A brush should be purchased. To create lather, use a small bowl. Aggressively apply it to your head. Reapply after shaving. Shave a little more. Take pleasure in the end result. It's a lot lighter than shaving cream, but it still protects the hair on your head. To make lather and apply it, you'll need the brush. In contrast to most shaving creams, its lightness allows hair and used soap to easily wash off the razor. Because each pass with a razor leaves very little residue, reapplying is essential. It's incredibly simple to see what you've shaved and what you've left out.

The coolest (pun intended) shave you've ever had! I'd heard of this soap before as a wet shaver of about three years
5/5

I'd heard stories about how it's a classic and staple of every wet shaver's shave den, and how it's cooling and refreshing. I bought this soap, as well as the pre/post shave cream, and decided to give it a try. I began by applying the pre/post cream after a thorough face wash. It starts to tingle. I'd read that it's best to let this stuff sit on your face for a minute or two before applying it, or to let it "work. " It felt like an arctic blast struck my face after about 5 seconds. I start the lather process, which is unique among shaving soaps. This is more of a "croap" than a typical puck of soap, as it is softer than a cream but firmer than a lotion. It only takes about 10 seconds to load the brush. I prefer to lather on my face rather than in a bowl, so I begin by building a lather. I'm using hot enough tap water to make steam, but all I get is menthol's icy numbness. That sensation, or lack thereof, persisted throughout all three passes, and there was still enough soap in the brush to complete at least another three passes. After rinsing off, I used a small amount of the pre/post cream as an aftershave, and the results were less noticeable. The menthol wears off about 15 minutes after shaving, and I have no irritation or dryness. As long as Proraso makes it, I'll keep buying it!.
